Title: My Mech KB is causing my computer to not boot.
Post by: killeraxemannic on Tue, 17 January 2012, 14:20:51
I have a Razer Black Widow keyboard, and if it is plugged in my computer won't boot past the bios screen. It will get to the bios splash screen and stop. If I unplug it all is well and it will boot up. The keyboard works just fine if I plug it in after windows is booted. It also boots fine with another USB keyboard plugged in.

Any ideas?

I am guessing you have tried other USB ports?

It may be down to BIOS settings perhaps make sure support for legacy/all USB devices is enabled or even try disabled (although that might need a ps/2 keyboard to get you back into bios). I'm sure i've had a simmilar problem in the past with a mouse or something but I can't quite remember.

Make sure your BIOS is up to date.

Just realised the blackwidow may have a firmware update: http://www.razersupport.com/index.php?_m=downloads&_a=view&parentcategoryid=189 which may or may not help at all. I'd try that before flashing a working BIOS version.

Might have to do with the boot order in your bios. Just make sure it reads from the hdd before usbs.

If the above doesn't help, try it with another computer to find out if it is your BIOS settings or the board itself.

Try plugging in a mouse in the USB port on the right
