Awesome! I was going through the Penumbra set trying to find a black TKL to get an idea of the beige on black look, but this is perfect. Thanks :)

Wow, those renders are awesome.  :D  Really hoping this goes through to the GB stage at some point.

I was actually about to submit it but I just want to be absolutely sure that I haven't missed anything major.
Though, if no one is opposed to anything here, I'll submit this design some time next week.

that's gonna be a nice set!
is there a plan to support colemak keys?

Not very many people have spoken out for this.
I don't plan on doing so for the moment but to all others who do want this: please post about it if you want it to happen.

I like picking up colemak keys when possible but it's not a huge deal and I know the colemak/dvorak sets aren't usually huge sellers. At home I typically just leave it qwerty because I switch back and forth when I'm gaming but at work I put colemak keys on when I have them for a set since it's always colemak there.

I like how even the RGB/CMY look retro  :)

I'm totally in for this.

Don't do it yet, otherwise I shall be bled dry like a vampire victim  :o .

Hold off another week or so at least wait till the current Joker key-set passes through, so that us unhinged individuals will have time to purchase your set.

Been following this set for a while. It looks absolutely awesome, my only suggestion would be to add a mod/pack that basically allows an HHKB style layout (AKA an R2 backspace key to replace |\ key)

This could be a possibility. Though, I don't know how much of a concern this really is.
The hacker layout is not too common and of the hacker style boards I have seen, rarely do they have the 1u |/ and backspace.
I see this as mostly a vanity concern and since I have not heard from anyone else I can only assume there is little to no interest.

btw FrostyToast no planck kit for this keyset ?

The planck layout should be easily achievable through the relegendables and the regular alphas, though the 2u spacebar may be an issue.
I may have to look into this further. Though, like many of the other requests, this is not one that many have spoken of.

I'm seeing a few suggestions for add-ons here and there, however, rarely anyone is speaking out.
I have had a single request for colemak, a single request for hacker keys, a single request for a planck kit... you can clearly tell why I am reluctant to add kits for any of these; I simply see no interest.

Just a quick update:
Someone else is planning on running their set very soon so this one will be pushed back.
That's fine though since it gives me a little extra time to look at the set more and see what it's missing.

Three to four years ago when a Group Buy started there was simply an above view of what the key-caps would look like in a traditional 87 and 104 layout.

That was it, no three dimension rendering or even an exact colour that is specified within those image(s).  You just had to take a guess and buy into it plus it all depends upon who was running the GB at the time, needless to say it was all exciting because you never knew what will turn up on your doorstep months ahead.

Was never disappointed with the results whether SP or GMK made them, all were quite unique and perfect for a large amount of CherryMX based keyboards.

Now we have everyone doing fantastic illustrations to impress those with little imagination and no idea of how key-caps are constructed by either factory.  I always liked the idea of not knowing EXACTLY what's coming down the line which added that extra excitement when the boxes got delivered.

We all need to trust the designer a lot more and give him the appropriate confidence to go forward with his chosen design.  This place has reverted to a place where kicking the designer in the crotch and making all your mates laugh as a joke but in the end they didn't even want to participate in any Group Buy.

Too many clowns thinking they know something about design yet never passed a degree in college or even know what colours are for.  They're the ones constantly trying to derail any GB for their own amusement and that's what pisses me off about this place.  Want to see people's designs make it to the molds of either factory because we need more key-sets for even more keyboards and in the end that can only be a good thing.

For a lot of people the prices are pretty high to just "trust" a designer. No matter how much I try to be accurate the final product is still likely different from my renders, especially since I've never held a custom keycap ever.

Thanks a bunch for keeping this thread alive!
I haven't heard much more in terms of suggestions which is a good sign that most people are quite satisfied with the kits.

Even though this buy will be pushed back by others that have been in the works earlier than this, I will try and get in contact with SP and organize things on that front.
Hint: That's pretty much a warning for last calls for requested kits.  ;)

This deserves to be alive and waiting for this baby, to finally get flushed out from SP's loins  8) .

It's one of those retro sets that brings a tear of remembrance to an aged key-cap collector because it represents a colour-way, that is no longer produced or sold anymore.

I agree so much with this, it has that genuine retro feel that's perfect for the SA profile.

Sculpted SA? I'm in, as usual.
Model M Industrial, SSK, Unicomp 104, Code TKL MX Green, FC660M MX Green + Clear + White + Grey, FC660C Topre 45g, MagicForce 68 USB and Bluetooth, Whitefox, some optical switch 65% Bluetooth split spacebar thing ... wait, I think I need an intervention. Too late, there’s a couple of new Model Fs on the way.
Too much SA is never enough.

After the GMK SNES set failed so hard, I REALLY hope the timing on this set will be perfect! Will definitely be joining in on this one. I just received the Lambda cap from Massdrop and I love the deeper clacks that the thick SA gives out. This set is gonna sound so sexy.  :thumb:

Okay guys,
Due to the recent fiasco with SP and their messed up pricing I am at an impasse. (see flatline IC thread)
I really want to make this set happen, but I am not comfortable giving SP any of my business.
As such I have decided that I will not run this set.

However, any of you can have permission to run this set on your own however you like.
You may add or take away kits, change profiles, sell through Massdrop, etc.
You may even use the mock-ups and renders shown here.
I did have to pay for the renders and mock-ups but you may use them all for free.
I only ask that you give credit of design/inspiration to me and credit for the artwork to thesiscamper.

I love all you guys and the support you have given me.
This is the best I'm willing to do.

What SP did is they gave "preferential" pricing to MD because of how much volume they move.
Now how we really found out about this is that the community-ran GBs were fairly on par with Massdrop's pricing, however we suddenly saw a 50% increase in GH group buys.
This 50% increase was allegedly for unaccounted production costs; which is ridiculous since a 50% hike cannot be attributed to production cost.

The reason why this is so infuriating is because the success of SP buys were from the combined efforts of GH and DT.
Massdrop moves a lot of volume; this is true.
However, it is the keyboard community who took the effort to design those sets and MD was merely chosen as a convenient method of distribution.
So at the end of the day, the keyboard community was thrown under the bus for our unrecognized efforts.

While i agree that there is an issue with how SP is doing this, i still would love to see this set happen. I don't think boycotting will be benetifital to anyone or the community, but will also open up talks on my own with them to try to get more information on the reasoning. If people would like me to head up getting this set run on Massdrop or PMK please let me know. If that were to happen I would also see to it that any and all royalties go to Frosty, fyi.
