New here :) Looking for a little help!
« on: Sun, 31 March 2013, 23:39:54 »
Hey guys, waited about 3 hours for that activation email! Was looking for a little advice after lurking around for quite some time.
I'm sure you get these questions often so bear with me :)

I currently own two leopolds, one with reds and the other with browns. I am currently in the market for a set of blues! My only problem is i cant really find the right board.

I was looking into the leopold 700r series but i have looked a bit and dont really know exactly how to get one.

What im looking for:
Full white keyboard
Tenkeyless
Blue switches

I was thinking about just getting a filco and putting white keys on it.

Just want a little higher quality then my leopolds this time around since i hear everything about the stabilizers etc.
Any help is apprreciated!
-Thanks

Welcome. If you want a white, high quality board with costar stabilisers then the Filco is a good choice. I'm not sure whether this has costar stabilisers and it's not in stock yet but you might want to check out the keycool : http://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=383 since it checks all your boxes.

Cooler Master may be releasing white keyboards in the near future.

Yeah, they don't stock it with blues on amazon. You can get it from qtan on ebay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Key-Cool-87-Mechanical-Gaming-keyboard-Cherry-MX-Blue-W-White-body-/300684703509?pt=PCA_Mice_Trackballs&hash=item4602347715) or wait for mechanicalkeyboards to stock it. Another alternative would be the HPE 87 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/HPE-87-Mechanical-Gaming-keyboard-Cherry-MX-Blue-switches-W-White-body-/300746631342?pt=PCA_Mice_Trackballs&hash=item4605e568ae) which is very similar to the Filco.

Can i buy a keycap set from WASD keyboards? Will it work fine with the filco? I saw a picture where you can take the little white stabilizer things out of the original keys and insert them into the new ones.

Yeah. That's true. The spacebars without the white inserts work with cherry stabs, and the white inserts allow them to work with costar stabs. Almost all spacebars will be the same design as WASD ones.

Try imsto in the vendor forums. He sells some of the highest quality PBT caps on the market - I have some and love them. I know he mainly sells 104 sets but I guess you'll have to deal with some spares.
