[IC] Campsite: GB Opens on January 20th!
« on: Tue, 14 July 2020, 15:35:03 »
Hey friends!
I've been working on a new project I'd like to share. Introducing the Campsite!

"Park your Van in a Campsite!"

Features:
  • Compatibility with all previously offered Minivan, Kumo, and Jetvan layouts.
  • Sandwich-style gasketed case with a sandblasted brass weight and 50A nitrile gaskets.
  • 4 degree typing angle.
  • Case alone should be approximately 2.8lbs, or 3 built OG Minivans.
  • Choice of a polycarbonate half plate for extreme flex, a PC full plate for medium-high flex, or a sandblasted brass full plate for firmness. Each plate material is available in either a split spacebar or a full spacebar layout.
  • Currently available colors: E-White, Blue Steel, Bushido Red, Space Grey and Jet Black.
  • Price: $299 + tax and shipping.
  • Ketch PCB available at sale.
  • Launching on January 20th, 2021 on Walletburner.co!!!

Please fill out the IC form to show your support and ask for changes: https://forms.gle/FEJpavFodY9toNxr8

If you want to support the project, put this banner in your signature!

Yep. I'm down. It would be cool if there could be a fun color like MHKB Fabulous Teal or something. Also wouldn't say no to a PC one. While I'm asking for stuff, how about R2 Esc. and R1 Delete as RAMA or similar quality metal artisans, like the titanium ones Evan sold a couple months back.

yeah space grey is getting a frosty reception right now, which is a shame because it's the most versatile (imo). sound off in the IC form with what colors you wanna see and i'll be monitoring the situation closely on whether it'll get replaced.

unfortunately that isn't up to me, that would be up to TKC at this point, though I've reached out to JSON and we'll see  ;)

lol u made me feel so old, that only about 3 years ago! i remember that, but at ~2.8lbs unbuilt, i think one-handed shots in crowds should be harder and i recommend setting your Campsite down before photo ops.

The backspace isn't an issue if you don't absolutely need to join GB's for endless set reruns with decreasing compatibility or color picker of the month celebration.

I'm definitely in and I would like to see the option to add a PCB to the case too.

I hope you will consider black as an additional colour.
It's neutral and I think it will go well together with the simple and elegant look of the case.

Filled in the form.

this buy includes no PCB, but there are multiple revisions of the TheVan PCBs that it should be compatible with. As far as I know, all of them support QMK, some VIA, and span some miniUSB and some USB-C  ports. I am in talks with TKC about offering PCBs at the time of sale to make things more convenient for people who don't already own a PCB for it.

Looks good! Very interested in this. My MiniVan came without a plate, and the wobble is horrible because of the hotswap sockets. This case would be an awesome upgrade!

Also, I put my GMK Camping on it, so I definitely can't skip a case called "Campsite"

thanks for the support! bad news tho, GMK Camping never had a 40% kit.... So that might be tough or you'll have to resort to incorrect legends to make it work. either way, thx!

Would be 100% in if it came with a PCB! Been trying to look for the PCBs you mentioned in the original post but can't seem to find any info on them. Even if TKC offered the PCB separately through their own site I would be in too.

I've been looking to pick up a 40% and this case seems perfect! Love the Blue Steel color. A black, pink, or purple one would be dope too. If a PCB was sold along with the case that would be very convenient but I can make do with finding a PCB elsewhere.

Damn you Dededecline
Yeah I was finally convincing myself that I could live without it and he chimed in with "BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO!" and well...

I'm 100 percent in if you can purchase a pcb with the board.
This. I want a minivan PCB with a big burning wallet printed across it.

Like others, I'm interested, but I'd need the PCB to be available alongside the case. Lovely looking design!

hey quick update: I received 2 prototypes last week and we are prepping to take photos soon :) expect more teasers before this runs after Cajal. at this point, it looks like I won't finish shipping Cajal until November at the earliest, so the buy looks like it'll be in early 2021..

Same. Adelie hurt a bit and I'm gonna need a bit to get ready for this.

Great... Its an awesome work. I know you are proud of the wallet burner logo. But I was wondering if it could be made an logo less! Plain minimal and simple.

Lmfao, wonder who that could be. Bit of a warning tho that plates from me will be a tad bit delayed since I'll be waiting for files like everyone else and will need to take who wants what layout.

I have recently seen the GB announcment in this thread.

Just wondering here what is the time frames and format of GB. Is it FCFS? is it limited? What is the timing of GB? And all this questions.

Thanks, walletburner!

Hey! I'm giving that a powerful think over the holidays, but I am leaning towards 100 raffled and 100 FCFS.

But I try to run my group-buys democratically, with input from participants. What do y'all think? How would you like the GB run?

100 raffle and 100 fcfs sounds good, but I am a bit afraid that the announcement of the raffle would attract those who weren’t following this board to get on the hype train, reducing my change of getting one. However, I will gladly participate in whatever method WB runs without any complains. :))  Merry Christmas guys! 🎄♥️

Personally I think that's fair enough. I've began to think that FCFS-only groupbuys are unviable at the moment due to flippers.
