Hi geekhackers, this is a group buy we've prepared for a quite long time but has been delayed a lot because of the infamous AL1 GB we run for Alsoran. We hope we can prove our abilities in this group buy that directly run by Triangle Lab. The manufacturer and suppliers, different from Alsoran's sources, are very reliable. Most importantly, we will do the QC by ourselves to make sure everything goes well.

Three of our creations are included in this GB:

Each one can be bought individually.

1. TR60 keyboard case with integrated plate

This looks pretty neat! How much does the case weigh and what's the typing angle? And any chance we could have different colors for the top and bottom?

Just want to say TriangleLab has been very helpful throughout the disaster that was AL1 and to reiterate that he wasn't manufacturing that board, just helping to run the GB

2: is it possible to get a board in the green-grey-ish color one of the protos is in? I really like that.

The case is 800g(1.76lbs) with default acrylic back plate. The angle is around 6 degree.

We're not providing the option for having different colors for top and bottom this time. Alsoran was providing 13 colors for top and bottom in the AL1 GB I ran. After seeing his failure on management, I'm very cautious about the options in the GB I run for myself.  We're providing very basic colors with less flexibility to make sure this GB goes smoothly.

Thank you Petch. I won't be able to run this GB without all your AL1 buyers' patience and support. There are still several AL1 orders not fully fulfilled or need after-sale services. I'm keeping my eyes on these orders in the meanwhile.

The shipping fee will be calculated according to the weight of package before shipping. The choice of delivery service matters a lot as well. For just two PCBs, I would estimate the shipping fee lower than $30 with DHL.

That case actually is black. The lighting makes the color is little confusing.

Thanks for reminding me. Actually, the standard version does support WKL layout(without 1u blockers). WKL (2u backspace, with 1u windows keys) and HHKB layout (1.5u backspace) are two of my favorite 60% layouts. The layout figure is updated.

Looks great! Seems like we can only choose one backplate option in the form though? Is it possible to get two? Interested in the acrylic and the brass options both if possible.
Also, in the diagram it looks like that hotswap wired pcb might have smd rgb leds, but I could be looking at diodes. I think you would have mentioNed if it were rgb, but wanted to ask just in case.

Feel free to PM me if you want to order more than one back plate.

The wired PCB support SINGLE color 3528 LEDs. The PCB will come with a set of these LEDs. I forgot to add the option for the color of LEDs. Will send emails later to those who order the wired PCB.

3. No, the plate doesn't support switch top removal. The wired PCB is hot-swappable tho.
4. Sure you can use other Bluetooth dongles or the built-in Bluetooth modules in your laptop. The dongle we provide works like the Logitech Unifying receiver.

Good question. Hotswappable means single layout. Bluetooth, especially long battery life Bluetooth, is a relatively new feature to keyboard PCBs. We added tons of layout options on the Bluetooth PCB to meet everyone's needs. As for the wired version, I decided to use the WKL layout becuase I like this layout a lot and there's no hot-swappable 60% WKL PCBs available on the market afaik.

You'll need to solder the 3528 SMD LEDs by yourself.

Yes, we had a lot of prototype PCBs for different layouts and they are all USB Type C!

There are AAA batteries behind the PCB.  Other 60% cases may be compatible if there's enough room for the batteries or you can modify the case like this (https://imgur.com/zmPZlkB).

Some questions:

  • Would it be possible to get an extra acrylic back plate, even if we order the brass?
  • What other cases, if any, will the PCB support?
  • Any typing test for sound?

It's too bad that the Fusion60 group buy hasn't started yet. I don't have the budget for both boards, and I would want to see the final price on the Fusion.

1. Yes. PM me for details.
2. The compatibility of the PCB is the same with most 60% PCBs like GH60, Santan, DZ60, Zeal60, and so on.
3. No. I don't have a good speaker for recording sound.

I believe Fusion60 will be a good kit as well. However, TR60 is quite different from Fusion60 imo. Hope you can make the right decision by yourself.

Hmm just a random question but I didn’t notice a hole for USB input on the case, it appears to be covered by the back plate? Is that correct, it could be on the other side and just not pictured, but I saw the area for it inside the case but no exterior hole.

Ok so I see it in the new pictures that you posted, I can the the hole through the PC back plate but it is definitely covered by that plate. Will the final version gave a hole in the back plate for the wired PCB?

My concern as well, will there be a special backplate for wired PCBs? Or will we have to create them ourselves (i.e. by dremel)?

ooh I have not spotted it, +1 for an answer,

The back plate in the photos doesn't have a cutout for USB port because there's no USB port on the prototype Bluetooth PCB. The back plates you receive will have cutouts for USB port.

As the price makes this attractive for newbies, would you consider adding an option for assembly for the Bluetooth pcb?

In the OP you mentioned that the Bluetooth PCB only works with the acrylic back plate. Why is that? Reception issues or something else?

Does the web configurator for the Bluetooth PCB have layer tap functionality (layer when held, key when tapped; LT() in QMK), or does it support something like TMK which does?

I have an all-metal KBDfans 5° case and metal plate with a Bluetooth PCB and it works fine up to ~3 m. Have you tested this PCB with the metal back panel and can confirm that it doesn't work?

2. Yes, layer toggling is supported
Can you share a link to the web configurator? I would like to see its full capabilities before I order.
Also, what firmware is it based on?

Got too caught up with work and missed this GB. Dang.

TR-60 could turnout to be a classic so, hopefully, there will be another GB.

Re conflict between hot-swappable and flexible layout, I think the best path forward is to ship unsoldered Kailh sockets for areas with multiple layout options. Soldering Kailh socket seems pretty easy according to this video

Given that there were no updates on the GH thread I dropped an email to TriangleLab and here is what he said.

Sorry for the lack of updates in a period. The main reason is that I was assigned to an frontier provinces for work during these days. The network is so bad here that I could not login any foreign websites smoothly, but you can always get in contact with me through emails.

The progress of TR60 production is basically smooth. Some of the work took more time than I expected tho. The final delivery time could be delayed a little.

Aluminum housings are being CNCed in the factory.

Two features have been added to the wired version PCB.

 1) ESC key surrounding RGB backlight. This is a popular feature originated from the Chinese keyboard community. With 4 WS2812 RGB LEDs around the ESC key, the backlight will be more even and brighter.

2) Optional middle USB port module/ daughterboard. In addition to the left side USB port option, middle USB port will also be possible with this module. The keyboard case design was slightly revised for supporting both USB port positions. Of course, Bluetooth PCB also has this feature.

The Bluetooth firmware developers just upgraded the firmware. I am working with them to test the new firmware and debug.

I am also curious about the LED choices. Also, it seems like the original estimated ship date is around the 25th of this month. Is there any chance of an update on how much further out before these are ready to ship? I want to make sure that I am paying attention to incoming emails at that time so I don't miss the shipping invoice.

Since I already started communicating with Victor, I decided to send him another email. Below is what he said about the wired and bluetooth PCB and estimated production finish. I will post the pictures later, when he sends them to me.

First, about the wired-PCB LED color option.Of course, it still available.I had bought some kind of color SMD LEDs. They are Red,Pink,Golden,Blue,White,Green and Yellow. For users who have purchased a wired version,I will send a statistical form. Btw,I will send the photos of those LED light on the PCB to you tonight.

Second, about the production schedule,in the past Mid-Autumn festival holiday,I went to the factory located in Shenzhen city.According to their internal production schedule, our TR-60 case still need about 10 working days, because of the Chinese National Day holiday——it about 6~7 days——so it will take about  17~20 days.

Third, about the wired PCB,the wired PCB production goes well, and because of the personal SMD LED color option, everyone need solder the LED by yourself.
about the blue-tooth PCB and website, it is the biggest challenge in this project, the firmware engineer re-build more than 1/4 code of the firmware. The website, we had an functional prototype, and now only have Chinese version and not translate to English, and the new GUI is not finish yet.I hope I could give you or some others interesting this website an testing URL and account in 10 days later.

Here is Victor's reply about the LEDs, so you can think about which colors to choose. Below is the imgur link with images.

LEDs are green, blue, pink(looks like purple), yellow, red and white, and according to the supplier said the pink is a little color deviation.
By the way, in the last email I said the color had golden and yellow, but supplier said the two kind of LEDs is very similar light in vision. So finally they are 6 color options.

Color----Green, Pink(Purple),Yellow(Golden), Blue, Red, White.

He usually needs a few days to answer so it might be a while. He sent me an email on Saturday and a second one on Monday but I haven't had the time to post it here yet. Below are the two emails and attached pictures.

The first batch of five cases had arrived my home and  I found I make a very silly mistake. When used the standard GH60 pcb which used the Mini-USB plug.Between the plastic sheath on the Mini-USB cable and the keyboard case had interference. This is my fault, and I think adjust the size of the back plate will solve this problem.I will send you the new design map snapshot today or tomorrow.

I had adjust the back-plate size and render some pictures. The back-plate is resize from 15 millimeters to 17 millimeters.
You can see an Mini-USB Female Plug in the render picture.I had sent it to the factory and they will fix the wrong back-plate size as sooner as possible.

https://imgur.com/a/7parZSS (https://imgur.com/a/7parZSS)

I apologize for the late update but I was very busy during the week. It seems that the production is coming to an end and I don't think the backplate problem will add much additional time.

I will write another email to Victor tomorrow (in cca 30h) regarding the ETA on shipping date, so if any of you have any other questions regarding the GB drop me a message on GH and I will include it in the email.

I am the one communicating with him through email. A while back, he said that he got relocated to a remote location, which has poor access to foreign websites, so he isn't able to post to Geekhack.
I will drop him another email during the weekend, hopefully the final one.

It would be good if anyone of you who ordered the wired PCBs, can confirm or deny, that you received a form to choose the LED colors, so we can know everything is going according to plan.
Victor said those should be sent out on 28th of October.

If you are worried you can send him an email, but he takes a few days to answer.

I have received the form and have filled it out. He sent one email stating:
Quote
Hi Everyone,

As mentioned in the GB post on GH, the wired PCB (TR60w) support SINGLE color 3528 LEDs. Each PCB comes with one set of LEDs in one color. As the production is almost done, it's time for you to choose the color of LEDs.

For each wired PCB you ordered, you need to specify the color of LEDs you want.

If you don't fill in this form in time, the LEDs will be white by default.

Here is the URL on the google doc, please fill in this form, and I could buy all the LEDs from the supplier.

By the way, because of the personalization options, the wired PCB's LED should soldering by yourself.

He didn't include the google doc form originally and had a follow up email to include it. Along with this photo

I have received the form and have filled it out. He sent one email stating:

He didn't include the google doc form originally and had a follow up email to include it. Along with this photo

Great, so I guess we really are getting close to the shipping date.
I will send one more email to Victor anyway just to check how it's going and report back here in the thread as per usual.

Is it me or the orientation of the hotswap sockets forces the switches to be installed upside down? If this is the case, the hotswap pcb won't be compatible with cherry profile keycaps. I didn't think about this when I jumped in on this GB.

...the hotswap pcb won't be compatible with cherry profile keycaps.

Isn't the capability issue only a problem when you have 3mm LEDs? You're talking about when the key cannot fully bottom out right?

I think the forms are closed now but you can probably send him an email about which color you want, don't know if he ordered the LEDs yet.
Worst case scenario, you will get white SMD LEDs, which you have to solder yourself anyway, so you can just buy the colors that you want.

Victor sent me the link to the online configurator for the Bluetooth PCB, but I don't think you can really access it unless you have some PCB connected.
You can check the Github page of the project however.

About the Bluetooth pcb web configuration. I add an ST’s stm32 USB IC on the board, and now the pcb could reprogramming the firmware through the USB-C. It is use google chrome browser new feature----Web USB interface.

I am still waiting for him to reply to my mail to get the estimated delivery date for the boards and will post the reply here when I get it.

Victor sent me an update today, so just leaving it here.

The Bluetooth PCB is USB + Bluetooth. The case‘s re-CNC and the re-color is almost finish, because of mistake of the backplate, and the case and the wired will finish first. Maybe this week or next week.

It looks like the cases are slowly getting ready for shipping so you should be expecting shipping invoices soon.

I would say the BT pcb being both usb and BT is an improvement.  Does that mean it will utilize a rechargeable battery now?

I don't think there will be any changes to the BT PCB apart from the added USB. The PCB will still use AAA batteries.

I’m very sorry for the delay of the group buy, and the case is almost finish and still waiting  some little things such paper package box, acrylic backplate and so on.

He didn‘t provide any proof though, so take it with a grain of salt.

So I got another mail from Victor with the status of keyboard and PCB production. It is attached in the picture below, so apart from the BT PCB everything is ready or on the way.

I also attached two pictures of the BT PCB, which appears to be in the 3rd test version, so hopefully it will be finished soon.

Victor did not give me any specific dates for which I asked, so I asked for them again. I hope that he will send me date estimates in the next few days. I actually don't know how much time it will take for the keyboards to be packaged and shipped but I don't believe we will receive any of them before Christmas.

Hello Everyone :),
1、The people who had only buy the wired PCB will send first. In optimism, their PCBs will be sent after about 3~5 days.I bought UV light and UV glue. The WS2812-4020 LED on the PCB upper surface need UV glue to reinforce. After reinforcement, the PCB will start sending to them.Today(2018-12-19),The UV light has arrived, and the UV glue's seller said the glue will be shipped to me on Thursday afternoon,so maybe 2018-12-22 I will get the glue and start to reinforce the WS2812 .Now I was QC the wired PCB, flashing the first QMK firmware into them and test them if they had any error and pick it out.
2、In the last week ,I said BT PCB  is the third version, it is solder in the SMT factory, because some component is too small to solder by myself. I started to design the fourth version - for example, to adjust the position of the battery, the location of the FPC interface.
3、The case after my QC,the brass back-plate's size is a little wrong :(.You can see it in the photo,so I return them to factory about 5 days and maybe 2018-12-23 I will get the right size brass plate. And the Aluminum back-plate is all right.

I wrote another email to Victor, to find out how the shipping is progressing. Here is his reponse.

Sorry for my inactive in the geekhack. I was sink into the mail ocean, I have to through many many email to check everyone’s address, phone number and others details. It is a little terribly busy.
The shipp work is still processing. All the order which one without include Bluetooth PCB could ship before Chinese New Year holiday If every buyer pay the international shipping fee on time.
Most package I try to use DHL to ship them, and some package’s destination is nearly China such Singapore and Japan, I use the sf-express.com
The BT-PCB order I think should ship after Chinese New Year holiday.
After the third test version, the Bluetooth PCB had test 4th  and 5th two versions. The factory made an stupid mistake, you can see it in the attachment.
Now it is in the 5th  test version, I think it could work well, tomorrow I could get the it from the SMT factory. The factory engineer had sent me two photos. I also put them in the attachment.
I had upload the wired pcb’s document to the github, the URL is  https://github.com/fox-lab/qmk_firmware/tree/master/keyboards/tr60w

Chinese New Year is on 5th of February, I don't know how many days around this date are the actual holidays.

The attachment included a few photos of the BT PCB, where the factory added the wrong solder pads for battery holders. Not much to see here, so didn't include them in the post.

I'll probably be using that method, though I'm awaiting Victor's response (or changing of the shipping fee if I'm on the right page).

I'll update back if I successfully manage to pay for shipping via "method B".

Hi, I've just paid for my shipping via Method B, and this is roughly how it goes:

Taobao:
1. Click on the Taobao link that Victor emailed to you.
2. Add the item to cart by clicking "加入购物车". Make sure you're only buying "1" quantity.
[attach=1]
3. Click on "去购物车结算" to go to your shopping cart.
[attach=2]
4. Select the checkbox on the left of the item, and click on "结 算" to settle the order.
[attach=3]
5. Check the box "我会自行联系卖家寄送至海外收货地址" (I will contact seller for shipping to overseas address), and then click on "提交订单" to submit order to Trianglelab's Taobao storefront. Make sure to add the information Victor specifies in his email into the field next to "给卖家留言:" (comments to seller) .
[attach=4]
6. You should be redirected to an Alipay page. Do not confirm any order on the Alipay page yet, as Victor would need to change the amount payable to the correct price based on your shipping address. I sent him an email confirming that I just sent him an order via Taobao, and he responded with a picture showing my new shipping cost (130rmb).

Alipay
7. Go to the Alipay website (it was https://my.alipay.com/portal/i.htm for me).
8. Click on the "查看所有交易记录" button (view all transactions).
[attach=5]
9. You should see an item titled "TR60 Group Buy International Shipping Fee Special Links". Click on the button next to the date stating "付款" (payment). The other items in the drop down list are for refunding, viewing remarks, viewing detailed information, and deleting the transaction.
[attach=6]
10. Fill in credit card info, and then submit payment. I didn't take a picture of this page, but it should be a red button close to the bottom right.

I paid for my TR60 at 10 July 2018 where a lead time was 75 days (let say 3 months even due to some delays, bank holidays and so on) - so the stuff should be on my desk from Nov 2018.
PP's buyer protection expired at 6/7 of Jan 2019 due to some shady messages, lack of communication, I decided to create a case for a refund.
Victor answered to PP 4/5 days later and today I got the refund.

Received mine about 12 hours ago (am in Singapore so I'm not too surprised, but still), and just finished building/programming it.
I'm quite happy with how it looks and feels, but I might try putting some foam inside the case since the Outemu Ice Greys I'm using sound really hollow.

Though, there was one glaring caveat when I was building my TR60 with a DZ60 PCB - the stab cutouts in the bottom of the 4mm thick plate only supports stabs with the wires south of the stab (there's a small channel the wire sits in), and the ANSI Enter key has the stab wire north of the stab, so I had to file out a bit of the bottom of the case to get the DZ60 to work. No biggie, but I had to spend a while troubleshooting it. If you ordered one of the PCBs that Trianglelabs was selling in this GB I wouldn't worry about it.

Otherwise I'm really enjoying the TR60.

Yes, if you are referring to the wired pcb. The command for the default layout is "fn + d" where fn is the key next to right shift. Here is a screenshot of the code where the default layout is in the qmk pull request. First set of values is base layer and second set is the result of holding fn and pressing any of the keys outlined on first layer.

Would you mind taking some pictures from all perspectives, so we can have a closer look of the finished product?
Do you have any other cases to which you can compare the TR60?

Thanks

Big thanks for taking the time to snap photos. Case looks terrific. The anodizing looks righteous.

I paid via Taobao last weekend and received my board Thursday the 24th, even though I made a silly mistake and had to cancel and reorder. He did say that the Taobao shipping would be the quickest option, so I'd just assume there are some extra steps in getting the money from his friend for the Paypal option. Board looks and feels great and the shipping he chose was very quick (I think it was only like 2 days from china to my doorstep)

Just got mine in today and quite pleased.  I did not have the issue with the stabs on the enter but it is a bit of a tight fit.  Really like how it came out though.  Nothing is perfect but I am happy with it and honestly for the price it is hard to beat. Glad I bought it.  Ill try and remember to post pictures after the build this weekend.  Lubed 80g Tealios.  Should be a solid board.

Hey all, wasn't a part of the group buy but I received one of the wired boards from a trade on the mech market.

Currently having this issue where for some reason the ` key, when plugged in, will be pressed and will continue to type out ``````````` until I hit another key. Then, the ` no longer works :(

I have no idea what to make of this issue, it happens with the standard firmware that came flashed on it. And remains after changing the keymapping around to match my HHKB ...

Below is my keymap, any help would be appreciated. I think I may have received a bad PCB.

i think you have a short in the pcb for that spot.  does it still happen if you take out the switch?
as a workaround can you disable that spot in your keymap so it ignores the input?

Yea I'm fairly certain it's a short as well with a little more digging. Removing the switch doesn't stop the issue. I'm going to look over the PCB but I'm not if it's something I can fix. I've already ordered a 1UP Hotswap HHKB PCB that has underglow presoldered on so I don't have to worry about it. Might actually put my Tokyo60 PCB in this case if the stabilizers are in the right direction. For the time being if I can't fix this.

Thanks for the tip!

Yup, I had the same issue. You can either swap those keys in the keymap you create, or (better), swap the keys in the c header file. I fixed it locally, but didn't have time then to see if it was possible to commit the change. Hopefully Triangle Lab can fix that and submit the pull request to the official qmk repo so that the simpler qmk configurator and qmk toolbox can be used for flashing.

Ohh, I didn't thought of swapping the keys in the header file (looking at it now, it seems that the macro was the cause of the issue). Thanks for the info!

Anybody an idea which stabs I need for the hkkb version?

You'll need PCB-mount stabs - spacebar is 7.0u, while ANSI left shift, ANSI/ISO enter, long right shift, and 2u backspace require 2.0u stabs each.

The LED on the ESC key, it is standard ws2812, QMK & TMK is support this smart LED.The Pin of the LED is Atmega32u4's Pin36 ---- PF7(ADC7/TDI)
You can re-program it,turn on or turn off it.

If this is the finish date, do you have any estimates when you will be shipping the boards to us?

Also wondering if there is any additional progress with the web configurator.

Anyone got a standard 60% chassis? I got the HHKB one and found out I don't like the layout between first ordering it and it delivering.

Never mind, I was able to get mine swapped out before shipping.

Also why is it using such a poor firmware? It doesn't even have Tap&Hold?

I tried but gave up. The firmware is too primitive when you're used to qmk/tmk.

Okay, so I got the keeb (HHKB layout) together with a wired PCB on r/mechmarket recently. Now I'm trying to comprehend how to fix a default layout to be something more similar to what I'm used to. The issue is that I can't find any way of using QMK together with the PCB.

Anybody know whether there are any QMK layouts for this PCB? Tried to search through official QMK GitHub repo with no success.

Yeahhh, already merged into my own fork, though I'm definitely low on day offs to get that sorted anytime soon. Considering I have about 0 understanding or the whole QMK thing and how that works :D Guess this is an excellent opportunity to get my hands dirty though.

Big thanks from me for sharing that fork! Have an excellent morning/day/evening!
