So, Google is opening up spots for ANY US resident to purchase Google Glass on April 15th (First come first serve basis). Any US GHers going to take the plunge?
April 15th at 6am PDT, we’re opening up some spots in the Glass Explorer Program. Any adult in the US* can become an Explorer by visiting our site and purchasing Glass for $1500 + tax – and it now comes with your favorite shade or frame, thanks to feedback from our current Explorers. The number of spots available is limited, so mark your calendar if you want to get in. You can find us on Tuesday at: http://google.com/glass/start/how-to-get-one

Imagine how many chromecasts you could buy with that!
-
Imagine how much money you could blend with that!
-
Still over $1k though, at this point seems like a marketing mistake.

Imagine how many custom keyboards you could buy with that!

Kill it! Kill it with fire!

I got an invitation a while ago, but I decided it's not time for me to be a gl******* yet. ;)

$15 hundred? Come on, invitation?

Two people I work with have been in the beta program for a while. I don't think I would take the plunge unless it was below $1000.

i was "gonna" buy one yesterday... but its pretty damn ugly in any version.

Isn't it easier to strap a video camera to your head?
-
Yeaaah no. Rather spend it on other things than this junk.

google need to go ahead and spend another 2 years at least on it because its nothing like it should be, theres so much potential in the concept but the current design is pretty disappointing. but thats just my professional opinion

Eh, personally I hope these don't catch on due to huge privacy concerns!

Yeah, I am gonna have to make myself some type of IR LED eyeglasses frame just to combat the Glass wearing public!

Privacy concerns *and* psychological effects of augmented reality. When people accused computer games of causing violence, it was mostly laughable, but this looks like a completely different beast, from what I've read so far.

Got to play with a pair today. It was okay I guess. The image quality was surprisingly mediocre and after about 10 minutes the device said that it was overheating (?!) and needed to cool down before it could resume function. The display wasn't vision-obstructive at all and it was comfortable to wear, and when it did work it was responsive and intuitive, so I could see it being a cool product in the final release. This was one of the first explorer editions so I'm sure that has something to do with the technical issues.

Pffff. Privacy is dead. I just keep my illegal activities off the internet.

You mean tracked by other people (with Google Glass)?
Besides, what's legal today doesn't have to be legal tomorrow. Retroactive laws aren't something that can't exist in the future.
