So I pulled the 910 out yesterday and took a look at the USB port and it does look like there should be enough room for a 1.2mm PCB to fit. The main issue is the cable as the USB tunnel for the 910 is on the smaller side. The cable pictured is just a simple sleeved cable but anything larger would probably have fitment issues with 1.2

Last picture are calipers opened to 0.45mm. It's on the same focus plane as the USB port to give you guys an idea of how much room you'd be working with.

Good call. I took a look at the pcb and I think right now the Unikorn 1.2 pcb just sits right on top of the brass weight/bottom case with very little gap in between. Anything thicker than 1.2mm 1.6 mm you will probably run into risk of hitting against the bottom case.

EDIT: Sorry I didn't realize it was actually 1.6mm. Thanks Lightning for pointing out.

IIRC the TGR-910 PCB is called TGR-Unicorn v1.2 (with a C) and is 1.6mm, the standard thickness, so otanishock probably meant anything thicker than 1.6mm would have issues.

Will not. USB-C doesn't fit the 910 USB tunnel.

Is there a timeline for this? Just wondering when a GB would open.

Targeting late next week. Need to do some CAD work on the plate. Looks like most people want a universal plate.

Will also be doing either a brass option on top of Polycarb and maybe FR4.

GB should be open for two weeks or so and production will take about two months at most. Cutting anodizing out of the process saves a ton of time.

YES! Crossing my fingers on the brass.

After looking at the new IC Form - does anyone know if the original 910 plate was considered uncoated or coated brass?

It will not, I'm pretty sure the compatibility for this is only for the 910 and EXENT.

Actually is this compatible with the EXENT?

I understand the originals were identical between the two boards, but this seems to be missing the key on the top right and has a gap on the bottom row on the right. (Based on the renders on page 1).

Is it possible to support both boards? The EXENT community is badly in need of replacement PCBs.

If it has any value, the original 910 PCB has a slot of a switch in the blocker but it's not used.

According to this https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=87213.msg2799758#msg2799758 post by quadcube, the original 910 and EXENT PCBs are the same “electrical and mechanical” design, but the same does not appear to be true of this replacement design.

If this could work as an Exent replacement as well, it would be an instant buy for me.

Are there details as to why it might (not) work?

At the moment, this has no compat for the key under the 910 blocker. Extent has a key there.

If you guys can confirm that the 910 PCB is the same (save for the corner blocker) I can ask the designer to add compat for it which is just another switch under where the 910 blocker is.

If you want to make it Exent-compatible, my instinct is that you have to rework the bottom row too. Right now you have blank space for the half u blocker to the left of the arrow cluster which Exent does not have.

This is probably right - from how I see it on the pic in the OP, the current state of the PCB accounts for a right-side 0.5u blocker, but not for an unblocked bottom row. So that'd have to change in addition to the top right corner key.

Dimension-wise, however, it does look like the EXENT PCB fits the 910, so the reverse might be applicable as well.

As an EXENT owner following this thread, that is definitely an issue that goes through my mind. For me personally that 0.5 U blocker is actually a bigger issue than the top right key. I think it would be easy to find something that visually replaces that corner, but finding/rigging something to visually replace the 0.5 U blocker a the bottom will take some work.

To me though all of that is just visual issues that I'm willing to work around. As long as the PCB fits in the case and plays nicely with most of the switch plate I'll be happy. And from what I can tell the TGR 910 PCB should meet those two criteria. I'll willing to buy one and see, at least.

I know this could be seen as a bit of a rude thread derail (apologies reconsiderit), but for the EXENT crowd, I feel I should mention that there is now a GB up for a re-run of EXENT PCBs by quadcube.

https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=102878.0

Should mean there is less of a need for sourcing odd spacers for us EXENT people, and less of a demand for adding complexity to a 910 specific board as is being discussed here.

(Again, sorry if this is out of line)

If its going to be reworked, I'll ask the designer to add the non-blocked bottom row compatibility. There's not a horrible much amount of complexity in there as there aren't any conflicting key positions between the two boards. If I've correctly looked things over, the PCB should be able to accommodate both the 910 bottom rows and all the extent bottom row options
