Updates

No real updates, but I don't want to go completely silent.
Samples are on it's way to Project Keyboard to have them tested.
I'm also well aware of the GMK issues lately, so I'll make sure to address this to GMK before production starts.

Probably not coming as a surprise, but due to COVID it won't be likely that this GB will start shipping in Q4.
Hopefully we can approve the samples soon and then I'll be able to give a better estimation of when shipping will start.

We've had our samples tested against the RAL cards by Nebulant (thank you). Based on the results we decided to approve the Cream (RAL 9001) and ask for a R2 of the Wine Red (RAL 3005).

tbh judging from the pics in july i would've guessed they were both a touchdown first try, kinda bummed another round of sampling will delay the set even further.
on the other hand, i can fully understand your aim for a perfect outcome of your vision

Not a knock on this GB just a general statement of how I approach these anymore, I'd rather everyone be happy with how it looks than wait 3 months less and get something subpar. Especially with this set since it's easy to just end up with red and white rather than the deeper red and cream colors that got me to buy a set.

a negative DELTA L* value means it's oversaturated
a positive DELTA L* value means it's undersaturated

I feel you! I'm in the same boat for other GBs. But like you said, I would rather wait and get the quality I expect than accept something subpar.

I’ll double check, but I think it’s safe to say it will be Q1 of 2021.

Yes they are legit. Project keyboard just does it that way.

Switchkeys does this too.  For them, "Pre-order" = a kit order placed after the GB is closed but before manufacturing is finished; "Extras" = a kit order once Switchkeys has received the keycaps.  In both cases kit prices are more than during GB, and quantities are limited.  Here's what they did for GMK Frost Witch:

GMK’s 2019 revenue was about 7.4 million USD, and I am guessing that people in this community are seriously underestimating the the portion of GMK’s revenue that stems from custom keycaps sets.

Any designer who has quoted a few kits and sets would probably be able to calculate roughly how much revenue they got from gmk keycap GBs specifically in a year by finding out all total sales for each set (dvorcol?) and then multiply by the different kits and get an estimate.
