IBM 5150 w/ 5170 keyboard

This is an interesting deal... the computer is a 5150 (PC), but the keyboard appears to be part of a 5170 (AT).

If someone buys this computer, wouldn't that result in a non-functioning keyboard?  Or did converters exist back in the early '80s?

At best, you'd be sending wrong scancodes along. At worst, one wouldn't understand the other.
Check my keyboard video reviews:

A 5150 will not understand the AT keyboard.

A 5150 will not understand the AT keyboard.

An IBM PC (5150) or XT (5160) Will understand most model Ms. Little known fact.
Same goes for the AT model F. Thanks to John Elliot: http://www.seasip.info/VintagePC/ibmat_kbc.html

model M info from the vintage computer forum.
Updaet: seems the AT keyboard will work on a 5150 - 5160 http://www.vcfed.org/forum/showthread.php?42091-IBM-AT-Keyboard-or-Model-F

KBXT is for attaching an XT keyboard to a 5170.   Not an AT to a 5150.

If you're talking about the converter mentioned in that thread, well, suppose it's not too surprising they exist.
