Hi! Here is my hand wiring. Im not quite satisfied with that the Teensy beeing loose. How do you fasten the Teensy in a rock solid way? I thought about glueing some metal sheet(?) to the top or bottom plate, and solder the USB-connector of the Teensy to that metal thing. But it isn't that easy, for the Teensy is not even flat to the ground, it floats around due to the wires ...

Would it be possible to solder the Teensy's usb connector at this spot (marked blue on the image) to the case? Or does it effect a circuit short?

Use good quality double stick tape. It wouldn't be my preference to solder the USB housing to a metal plate, I feel like you'd be using too much heat to get such large pieces together.

Double stick tape is a good idea. I've also used adhesive fabric tape (the black kind for making wire harnesses and stuff like that) a lot lately to bring order to things inside my hand wired keyboards. Also using usb adapters mounted to the case could be an alternative (see my 60% Alps build).

Why not using a short USB extension cable? You could attach the female side to the case however you like without needing to think about the teensy.

Yeh, something like this.

Just route the cable as you like, put the teensy wherever, and make the extension cable take the beatings from plugin/plugout.

... Or use a piece of cheap tri-strip board cut to size, and with holes that you drilled yourself. ;)
... Or use a socket but solder the Teensy to the wrong side: the socket's pins. Glue a mounting bracket to the socket. Insert the wires into the socket's holes.
However, neither option would give you access to the holes on the interior or the short end.

I like to use double sided tape to secure the Teensy to the PCB and then use a Dremel to carve out a piece of high-density foam to secure it in place on the other side.

Nice proposal, hasu! I will try that first, since it is easy and costs me no money (my neighbour can lend me a hot glue pistol)

;) Hotglue is good, but doesn't "stick" all that well unless it has some holes / rough bits to form around. For something more permanent you can try epoxy. If you want to stick it to a flat surface, then some "No More Nails" type of double sided mounting tape should work well.

I am leaning towards using double-sided foam tape in a build I'm working on.
