It's a shame it was such an expensive set - $200 for a GMK set is really pushing the limits of wallethack

It's an antique iron-banded chest that's been passed down from my great grandparents :)

Thanks for the comments guys :) The GMK RA was definitely a bit pricey, but IMO it's one of the best GMK sets out there. Hyperfuse is probably my second favorite.

:( I'm torn between the 7x layout or the layout with a short right shift and Fn. I think I prefer this for 60% boards, though making the right winkey a Fn would work pretty well...

Anyone got a winkeyless Mini PCB+plate lying around?  :p

The 6.25u layout definitely allows you to have a convenient area for mapping Arrow keys on the modifier row. 7u makes it a little more cumbersome, at least if you want to use the modifier row for  the < v >  arrows.

You say being torn between 7u layout and the one with a short right shift and Fn? AFAIK, the standard HHKB mimic layout uses 7u for the bottom row and of course keeps the short right shift and fn, so... Couldn't you have both?

I should just clarify that what I mean is that the bottom row layout and the short shift layout aren't mutually inclusive. Haha

You're absolutely correct, technically. But from what I've seen of the 356 Mini layouts, it looks like two plate/PCB layouts were produced: a winkey layout with a short right shift and a winkeyless layout with a full-length right shift:

http://www.otd.kr/bbs/board.php?bo_table=album&sca=&sfl=wr_subject&stx=356+mini&x=0&y=0

I can't say for sure of course, I'm far from a Korean Custom historian  :))

Yeah, that's right.

Oh, the more you know!

Yeah, then I totally understand your predicament. I figured the PCB was more universal, my bad!

Use a different PCB and cut the plate. No reason to let standard layouts hold you back.
