I was looking into mixing & matching the Cherry MX switches in my keyboard with other flavors in the MX series.  Right now I'm all Blue.  I'm wanting to change the spacebar to an MX Green & replace all the "lock" keys with MX Locks.  I like the feel of the Blues for typing, but I was considering replacing the switches of function keys, arrow keys, etc.  It would be AWESOME if Cherry Corp. sold a numpad with each of the ten MX switches, pretty sure they don't, so I was wondering if you had any recommendations as to which switches you would use for what key(s).

There's 10 types of MX switch?  Maybe if you count modded versions.  I'd use all the same switch type for everything since there's no advantage to mixing them, just disadvantages like errors resulting in different forces required or reset points being in different spots.

Yeah, unless it's a tester board, you're not going to enjoy trying to use a bunch of different switch types in one number pad. I've wondered if any Cherry MX switch  manufacturer would try to make a Realforce type Cherry board, though. Maybe something like greens for the heavy keys and blues for the lights. Or black/red for linear lovers.

Not to mention, wouldn't the firmware of the board need to be changed to handle the signal of the lock switches?

i'm pretty sure this is almost right.  the only exception i can think of is a function key.

Save yourself the trouble. Just get a G81.
