Title: Using Heatware with Geekhack
Post by: fartq on Sun, 05 August 2012, 22:19:38
1) Please enter "other.." on the drop-down and enter "geekhack" in the text box as the name of the forum when you leave feedback. If we can show them the volume of business we do on geekhack, they will add us to the drop-down list :)

2) I've added an entry for your heatware user-id to your forum profile. This will cause a link to display under your avatar (which looks like this: (http://geekhack.org/Themes/default/images/heat.png)) that links to your heatware evaluations page.

How do I obtain my heatware user-id?

Glad you asked! Your user-id is the number which follows the string "id=" in the arguments to the heatware php app. As an example, here is the url to my heatware evaluation page: http://www.heatware.com/eval.php?id=67134

Hence, my heatware user-id is 67134, and that is what I will enter into the new profile field.

Thanks folks!

iTrader (the previous feedback mechanism we used) will NOT be coming back.

That blows...on to heatwave now

tbh it should have been this way from the beginning; heatware is the de facto standard feedback mechanism for every other pc enthusiast site. there's simply no compelling reason for us to have a separate feedback mechanism, particularly with our extremely low loss rates (basically nil).

Can we expect some kind of better integration than a link in our sigs?

Post by: mkawa on Sun, 05 August 2012, 22:28:00
that's how everyone else does it. what kind of integration would you like? keep in mind that heatware does not provide a public API.

how about: adding it as a profile field, which displays under avatar if entered :D

When you hover over it, it makes a little underscore thingy.  Not worth fixing if it's a hassle, but my OCD wanted to let you know

Oh god I've purchased so much the last 3 months. Giving heat ratings will provide me with something to do at work tomorrow.

How about group buys? Each person is allowed to give you heat, and can/should do the same?
Title: Re: Using Heatware with Geekhack
Post by: mkawa on Tue, 07 August 2012, 01:26:22
sure, the only requirement in heatware's TOS is that a feedback corresponds to a transaction, so you can't give people heat just for the heck of it

Adding feebacks on heatware--->task added to calendar of next week.

I am going hiking this weekend (just before the short summer ends in Canada)

Dealt with 7 of 13 individuals in this thread.

Dealt with more out of this thread. Some of them are with 0 post in geekhack and plenty are females which surprised me a little bit.

My iTrader was around 35 before the compromise. I'll go back and post heatware feedback for those that I've had transactions with. Here is mine:

I've done the same, send positive feedback to those I've had transactions with that has heatware account. There are more that I need to give to but still doesn't have heatware account so I'll just wait on them. I think my iTrader here on geekhack was on 17-18, can't really remember.

Here's mine:

Has anyone else had a problem with the Heatware feedback they leave not showing up for the other person? I have left three people feedback and, while I can see it under my submitted tab, it does not show on their received. Support seems to be nonexistant, as I have already sent 3 emails without a single response.

And how did you get to know them? You obviously have to start trusting someone somewhere, and the point of heatWARE (not wave), is that it documents peoples feedback from trades.

My HEATWARE:

http://heatware.com/eval.php?id=67251

76-0-0 :D

Only wish I could post FS/FT threads in this section. Some day perhaps...

Either way, been using HEATWARE for a bit and love it...used very often on many sites. I think Head-Fi is the only forum I've seen that has no idea what it is (but they have their own rating system).
