Good News Everyone,
shipping costs have been slashed by over half!I am going to ship everything by sea mail. I am targeting to ship on April 18 and on May 2. I need the weekend to pack the boxes.
This is one of the world’s greatest ports. 9% of all international trade moves through Singapore. Sea mail is fast and safe from here.
Officially they say 4-17 weeks. Unofficially, it is only 3 weeks from Singapore to a major port city like Tokyo or Rotterdam. From there the speed varies. If you live in Slovakia a sea mail package will have to pass through Germany and the Czech Republic by barge and rail, so it’ll be much slower than if you live in New York.
Sea mail is reliable, but the timing varies based on the logic of international logistics. EG if you live in Latvia your package is going to sit in some London dock until there is a ship heading for Riga. They will not load your package on a daily flight to Riga. In contrast if you live in London your box will be processed very fast.
The China-Singapore sea mail route is just 3 weeks.
A lot of the timing has to do with how often a ship leaves port. So sea mail from Singapore will be much faster than surface mail from some remote inland town.
If you’re checking on the Singpost.com website, 1SG= 0.72 USD aka 1USD = 1.38 SGD.
All costs include international tracking but not insurance.1) All shipping now standardized: minimum 500g box. I will send all keycaps in boxes to prevent crushing.
2) A good quality 10kg box weighs 2.4kg, so you can only ship 2 large Model Fs in that box but will have plenty of room for freebies.
3) You can get a big box to hold 3 Model Fs that weighs only 1.1kg, but it is really flimsy. This option is only if you are buying stock keyboards from me. I am not sending my modded stuff in lousy boxes.
4) You can realistically ship 3.9kg in a 5kg box, 1.55kg in a 2kg box, 0.75kg in a 1kg box.
5) Note: It sometimes costs more to ship to Malaysia than to other countries. The post office says it’s because Malaysia doesn’t have the benefit of sea freight rates.
How to use the tracking number:
Many countries have random customs inspections which can cause 1-4 weeks in delays. If tracking shows it arrived in your country but no further info, usually that means stuck in customs. Asking me to pester customs for you is useless. They will release item when they feel like it. In hundreds of packages I sent, none has ever been lost at the customs stage. It is probably the safest stage because they won’t steal your stuff.
I have sent a $260 Topre to Bunnylake UK marked as a $20 gift via Speedpost Standard, and customs gave us no trouble. I have sent $500 worth of stuff in a huge box to Dorkvader USA marked as $20 gift via Speedpost Economy, also no issue. YMMV.
When I give you a tracking number for under 2kg, it should be used on the Singpost.com.sg website. Items over 2kg use Speedpost.com.sg website. Do not use Speedpost.com without the country code! Once the item is marked as having arrived in your country, you must use the same number on your domestic post website. Singpost/Speedpost cannot track anymore.
