Reveived mine just an hour ago. So far I love the "stealth" look. The complaints about the smoothnes I do not share (but thats just my take, as the other said: its just feedback).

I thought it will come out a little heavier but I have to wait for the overall build.

For now I had put there a few things to check the colors :)

just about ten are left to be shipped now.

Including, surely, mine. Murphy's Law is fulfilling its yearly quota with me, that's certain. :(

My Testbuild is done (first custom build), amd it just feels amazing - rock solid, looks sexy a f with Tai Hao black on black and the feeling is just amazing. I jused cheap chinese silent reds and it is by far the best typing experience I had on a MX board. Kudos for making this possible to Plastikschnittstelle - I bow my head, SIR!

Kudos to PlastikSchnittstelle!
Mine arrived safely two days earlier and they look real nice!

A few words on the finishing:
They look nice to me, and definitely different from other common anodizing finish which is usually more shiny and slippery.
In my eyes, the finish of SKB looks super matt, very stealth like a freshly unboxed ThinkPad laptop kind of uniform matt black, but without the rubberized surface feel - it does feel like a black Chalkboard surface in terms of the friction - to me it looks great.

received mine. I am a bit disappointed in the smoothness of the surface. It looks fine, but feels much too rough/raw.
I did adress this with the manufacturer, he convinced me that this is the expected result. sheetmetal comes in different kind of alloys compared to aluminium blocks for milling. I guess that might be why it feels different.

Keeping my fingers crossed for the remaining orders all be completed without error.

And hope to see the builds here!

So I just flashed my personal Layout on this beauty, with the incredible help of the german community of computerbase. Feels just great. And yeah, the beadblasting IS rough - but wasn't that supposed to be, inherent in the industrial desigh? It is just as I expected. Tommorrow I will make the second build, and afterwards I will make sopme pictures. I must admit I feel a bit proud on my first custom.... Silly, I know, it is just a simple cheap 75, but it is MINE 75...

Mine arrived as well, really happy how it turned out  :thumb:

For people who receive their boards: don't feel overwhelmed by the screw package, on the first glance it looks worse than an average IKEA package but it's not that difficult. The parts are well sorted and many parts are just for additional options during assembly and not required for the board.

The finish is indeed quite rough which imo suits the design well. It's not unpleasent and my CNC-milled customs have quite different finishes as well. I think it's different than others but it's very pleasant to touch.

Looking forward to solder my board tomorrow  ;D

Finished mine today after I had to fix the pcb I bought quite some time ago. Really nice board, I'm glad I got it. Now I'm waiting for a macropad and then I got my real endgame with those two boards (skb60 wkd + macropad).
Thanks PlastikSchnittstelle for running this GB!

Help! Upon assembling the case, it became self-aware and started eating the switches and my previous keyboard  :eek:

Joking aside, I really want to thank you PlastikSchnittstelle for this awesome piece of sheet...metal. When I was finished assembling it (really pleasant and satisfying assembly experience btw, finally got to use my Wera Werkzeug-Set) I felt like the German word "bombenfest" (albeit having a negative connotation) was really fitting, just judging by its look and feel. I love the mechanism to change the angle, it also kinda served me as a "Wartungsklappe" because I noticed how the board was pushed down a little too much when inserting the switches, so I could just remove the rear screws, granting me access to the bottom side of the board.

This is how the end result looks like (sorry for the ****ty camera, doesn't do the case justice):

* XD75
* GMK Serika
* Zealios 67g

As this is my first GB, the only negative thing is that I'm now probably spoiled by how smooth it all went and will have similar high expectations going forward with other GBs.

So... do you have any more cases left? :) After seeing the end result, I'd love to build a staggered 75% board now.

Cheers

Some -unbuild- YAS pictures. Long spacers.

First thoughts;
- material surely is a lot rougher than I’d thought. I don’t mind, it makes the the keyboard very interesting imo.
- putting it together (although not soldered yet) was a fun process!
- it’s a lovely black!
- very light, not sure how much it would scratch but this could work as a travel board (just talking about weight, not size)

... Long spacers.

Where did you source the long spacers from? I intend on doing a deeper recessed setup also, prefer to have the bottoms of keycaps hidden for modesty (no peeking up the skirts), and also makes tall SA slightly more reasonable.

I vaguely remember some discussion about long spacers in the earlier pages of the various IC/GB threads, but didn't know PlastikSchnittstelle was including them as part of the hardware kit! That's awesome, must've been an update I missed along the way.

Edit: Damn, I missed a lot of stuff about the different sets of standoffs, matching screws, AND spacers! NICE.

Received mine today!

First impressions:

- Great packaging work, bubblewrap intensifies! Nothing was broken when I checked.
- A little lighter and thinner than I expected, but it was made thinner at some point for a good reason.
- The "sandy" surface gives me constant goosebumps and shivers when I brush it (think fingernails and chalkboard), hopefully I get used to it soon enough.
- I expected a short guide on assembly, as this is a little more than "screw the corners together with place in between". Any steps to take so I don't mangle it during assembly?
- A small imperfection near one of the screw holes on top, but hopefully that will be hidden under the screw (paint missing and aluminum is showing on a 1x1mm area).

I have the choice of using one of the following keycaps on this: GMK Carbon, GMK WoB (Originative), GMK Serika, SA Green Screen (or Amber Screen). Anyone happen to have photos with these so I can compare a little in advance?
Current:
    Ducky DK9008P [MX Blues] | WASD V2 TKL [MX Blues] | r63 (Satan 60% DIY) [Gateron Browns] | BananaSplit 60% [Gateron Greens] | UK78 [67g Zealios] | Infinity ErgoDox [MX Clears] | Pearl 40% [78g Zealios] | G81-3000
Coming up:
    DZ60/SKB60-WKL [100g MX Silent Blacks] | G81-3000 [Box Navies] Handwire
IC/GB:
    GMK Strogg | G81/80-3000 MX metal plate

i think that the small clear area around the screw holes are hook marks where the case was held when placed in the anodising bath

i think that the small clear area around the screw holes are hook marks where the case was held when placed in the anodising bath

I see, in that case (heh) I guess it has been calculated so the screws will cover those fine.

Just got mine yesterday (thank you so much!) and it's great. Question though, what is everyone using to clean the plates? Should I just use water and a gentle soap to get the oil from the cutting process (I assume that's where it came from) off of them? Any danger? Just wipe them down with a rag maybe?

Got mine today -Sydney Australia  - Looks wicked !!!!  Thank you so much!!

Just some feedback, If you ever make a version two could you make it thicker ? If its possible i would love to fee the weight to be super heavy. I know postage price might jump through the roof but would be ideal..

Another thing and sorry to  sound silly but does any one have instructions to put it together ? I have 3 bags of screws all different sizes can some one please give me some schematics or drawings?

Other than that ITS PERFECT!!! THANK YOU

logging in via phone now because this is really important. instructions were posted earlier here:
https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=95113.msg2796277#msg2796277
please read it and please repost the link as answer if the question comes up again.

if you go through the IC and the earlier pages of this GB you'll see that it was actually planned in 3mm instead of 2mm. you'll find detailed exlanation why it didn't work out.

don't clean wet, just dry towel if you think you need. the slight oily coat is normal, same with machine screws, additional protection against rust. though the board is not used outside or otherwise difficult climate conditions, rust wont be an issue anyway. but it might if you start using water  on the plate. well drying it properly and it will be ok of corse but you would have lessened the protective layer.
