its partly the distrction, but also  the lack of auditoy frrdback to normal actions.

Good:

ANC itself in terms of suppression lives up to the hype.

Transparency mode is pretty cool.

ANC removes that hollow cavity sound you get when wearing earbuds. this is quite impressive. supposidly this is possible with 2 of the 6 microphones in the earbud measuring the canal of the ear.

Comfort is ok, at least within an hour of use, over an hour, ear pain, tried a bunch of tips, same.

Decent control over eq, it's app independent, and saves to earbud so that's nice.

Controls are intuitive for the most part.

Volume control is still crap. tap, wait, tap, wait, tap, too soon, pauses music.


Not as good:

Critical listening, the active noise canceling adds a sizzle noise to the sound.

So it's a choice between the hollow warbling noise without ANC (all earbuds have this), or the sizzle noise with ANC,



Overall good product, wouldn't call this stuff hifi, certainly kewl tech.

idk bout $35 good, maybe $15 good.

got me some airpods pro coup years back for endurance cycling.

i either use them in transparency mode so that i still CAN hear traffic WHILE listening music
or I use them as "colleague cancelling" earbuds and they are almost perfect for that

unfortunately, colleagues do dare to come over to you when wearing earbuds
so I recommend thick cans as an implicit "GTFO" signal.
when wearing my WH-1000XM3 can's, colleagues don't dare come near me

Most of the time I use Normal or Transparency on mine, since I know I will be interrupted while listening to music - also people just continue to talk when I signal to give me a sec while I push to pause on the buds (this drives me nuts).  I have tested the ANC on my Clarity 8's and it works well - feels weird when it turns on since all of a sudden outside noise it gone lol.

yess a noticeable hiss. studio monitors also make a slight "hiss", but this is far more pronounced.
having anc on and not listening to music is like listening to white noise
used to it now, but far from ideal

will say this,   everyone looks more like a robot with wireless earbuds on, and that's a good thing.

Sony is the company i've been sticking to since I blew a bunch of money in A school on bs headphones. XM5 earbuds and headphones are the truth. great for travel too

With nothing playing I have noticed a small amount of "white noise" but I have to be paying attention or listening out for it - when media/music is playing I don't notice it in the Monster 8.0's.
