Hey everyone, sorry about the unannounced break. I've been super busy lately and haven't had to stop by and check everything out. I will be able to start working on boards again within a few weeks. I'll be home full time then and will be able to work on them during the weekdays as well which will benefit everyone. I'm sorry I haven't been replying to any PMs. I will respond to them when I'm able to do work again. I got on just to post this. Cheers :thumb:

I'm pretty sure he "retired" from keyboards and sold most of his stuff, so I would assume he isn't going to be offering his services anymore.

He mentioned earlier he may still be offering services, but not sure.

Bummed. He had such a good collection and was fun to chat with.

Yeah, he seemed pretty cool but last I talked to him he said he was getting out of keyboards and was gonna focus on automotive stuff.  Maybe he'll be back though, ya never know!

I have been pondering the thought of bringing this back since my schedule is starting to ease up. I'm curious if there is still a need for keyboard services? While I was away from Geekhack and these services, I ended up falling into the audiophile community a bit. That's where I continued my soldering practices to work on re-capping old amps and energizers. Since then I had the keyboard spark reignited in me and have been tinkering on my own boards again.

Anyways if people are interested in keyboard services I'm interested in what I could do to provide better services. Would people prefer if I were to stock my own switches, springs, and lube to build boards or just allow everyone to supply their own? By stocking my own parts that also would reduce the initial shipping costs for people as it's less weight and volume to ship out to me. My goal would be the same as it was when I first started this keyboard services. I would like to keep the cost to a minimum and provide quality work so people don't have to spend an arm and a leg for their complete board.

Side Note:
As I have not been active on this thread for quite some time I'd like to just clear up the confusion of the previous posts if anyone were to be concerned with using my services, if I were to even start providing services again. I forget about this event so I went back into my messages to understand it further. The Cheat was purchased with my own funds with a verbal agreement that whenever I would have time I would fix it then sell to nguyenkimtam as the original seller of the Cheat would only ship to CONUS. This agreement was to be done as a favor and I was not going to make any money from it. As I used my own funds to acquire the board I was never in a hurry with it as I was with any customer board. That is when I left Geekhack and held onto the Cheat that I purchased for many months which ended up then being sold on the forums.

Whatever little help it may be, I can vouch for steez and his services. He helped me mod my first serious mech, and did a bang up job. I doubt I would still be in this hobby without the support and help provided from him so early on.

The situation with the cheat is nothing to worry about imho, and I hope people consider the services!

Stocking small parts in is a godsend imo. A switch modder I work with stocks springs, housings, gat tops, lube, etc. Paying him retail, or slightly more for the parts, has been much easier both in shipping cost and logistics. I'd recommend it if you're considering it.

Thank you very much for the kind words! If there can be enough interest generated I'll definitely stock up on some parts.

I have never done a split board but I have some experience with QMK itself. There is an abundance of supported PCBs and layouts on the QMK configurator. Are talking about just using the configurator or actually or is this a new board that is not available on the configurator?
