Title: creating a serial optical mouse? any help?

i picked up an old PC at a garage sale for $1.00 it came with a serial mouse but the track ball doesn't work very well so id like to make it optical... i need help diagrams, eBay items, or just plain pictures... I DON'T CARE what you post i just want help making my life with this PC easier... :(

Is there a reason why you cant use one of the current model mice/trackballs? Is this a mouse OR a trackball OR both?

Any photos of the rodent?

You have 3 options then: Buy a converter, Build a converter, or Build a mouse from scratch.
