In case anyone was curious, he re-sent the google form for orders this AM. Apparently everyone was in the same boat as me and never got it the first time around.

wait, there was an order form? I signed up for the mailing list to know when orders started, but I all ever got was the update on March 3rd. If I didn't get an order form this morning, am I missing something?

Just got word that our batch is going into anodizing tomorrow! I SHOULD have everything back next week, then I can check them over, and then pack and ship.

IIRC he’s travelling until mid week and should pick up the boards when he gets back. After another QC check he’ll ship them out.

Hey guys! Still haven't heard back from the factory, I'm going to send them another email tomorrow to try and get a hold of them. I'm pretty frustrated with the delays with the anodizing place, so I may look at handling that on my own in the future in order to choose my own place.

I’m sorry again for the lengthy delay – I broke my back 2 weeks ago and its taken a toll on our productivity and response time. Your parts are at ano currently and I am meeting with him later today. If they are not done I will make sure I have a hard date for you.

I likely won’t be able to quote the new package until tomorrow.

There's been some major problems with the anodizer, and they're now refusing to refinish the boards. They've already been sandblasted so I'm working with the machine shop on finding an alternative anodizer, and we are considering the possibility of powder coating or something like duracoat if we are unable to do so.

Please let me know your thoughts and work with me through this.

Would cerakote be possible? (Blue Titanium!)

Powder coating sounds cool if we could get unique colors.

If not, a different color anode would be neat.

How long will this delay be?

I think powdercoating could be nice ive heard other coatings like cerakote are worse than anodization tho.

Edit: How will the tolerances be if the case gets powdercoated?

Edit 2: If powdercoating is avaiable can we choose new colors? If so would purple be avaliable?

Edit 3: If you find a new anodizer can I get mine in purple?

I don't believe I'll be offering custom colours or colour changes at this point in time.

As for tolerances, powder coating is ~0.1mm-0.2mm thick typically, which is reasonable.

I will be updating this thread as I receive more information and make decisions.

glad to have an update even if it's bad news. I would very much like to get the navy blue anodized board that I ordered even if it takes a little bit to identify a new anodizer. hopefully powder coating isn't the only option left.

Thanks for keeping the communication honest and open. I don't know much about the differences in finish between anodizing and powder coat, as I've never laid eyes or hands on a powder-coated keyboard. From what I've seen of duracoat it's a lot like cerakote, which has a very flat (no gloss) finish. Since mine is silver, i'd prefer a finish with a bit of sheen to it.

Hey everyone! Just got word back from the shop, we'll be anodizing the silver boards at a new shop, and will be receiving a lead time on powdercoating the coloured boards. Unfortunately we've received the same response everywhere, that the consistency I require for anodized aluminum is unrealistic with media blasting.

I am not comfortable with the mandatory switch from ano to powder coat, but I'm holding out to see pictures of the new finish. I'm considering trying to sell my spot, or swap my navy for a silver if there's still interest at that point.

I'm interested in what options are available. I think that in order to make any decision, I'd need to know a lot more information about price differences (if any), delivery times, and colors available. I really like the alternate options available, and it would be cool to get some unusual color matches, like the green from Jukebox or the grey from Muted. Thanks for hanging in there for delivery of the remaining units, 27. Any chance of delivery this summer, or are we looking at fall?

Hey everyone! Apologies for the silences, I'm out of town visiting family right now, I'll be back in Ottawa this coming Tuesday.

So a quick update, silver boards have been reanodized to the best quality we can get. Due to the nature of the media blasting and anodizing there may be some colour inconsistencies on the large bottom surface.

Another update, I received the remaining blue orders back anodized as originally required, unfortunately one of these boards are going to be powdercoated. If someone with a blue order who is flexible with their finish would like to contact me, we can organize the possibility of switching to black or red powdercoating if interested in a colour change..

I'll be bringing in the remaining anodized pieces that have a matching top or bottom that will be refinished to ensure that they are powdercoated and will match the finish as best as possible.

Thank you everyone for the patience while I work through this.

I'll try to have some powdercoating samples ready in the coming weeks.
