Batch 3 Reanodizing: Not good news on the reanodizing front. I had some raw cases anodized by the anodizer I was planning on using, but to keep it brief, they turned out terrible - pictures below. As mentioned, these were supplied raw, and the simple request of silver AKA clear was made. Dents, scratches, patchiness, etc. Regardless of the quality, they would only be able to anodize in preset colors & finishes, and none were close to the Blue Gray of this project.
Summing things up, I've reached out to five anodizers - three said they wouldn't be able to guarantee better, one ghosted, and the final one that actually anodized something couldn't put out close to an acceptable quality. On top of these, the manufacturer that I've used reliability for the past few years cannot get closer, and changing manufacturers is why we're here (and to me, a pointless misadventure both with time & money). I hate that it's this way, but I feel like I've exhausted all my options.
To move forward, first I will ship all the kits out so that owners can see the exact anodizing mismatch themselves. I'll then start conversations with everyone involved, and gather opinions on what the best solution is for everyone. I'd like to come out of this with everyone as satisfied as they can be given the circumstances. I believe this is the best solution, but ultimately I'll listen to everyone and do my best. If you want to reach out sooner and start talking, feel free to, however I'd like to get everything delivered so proper judgement can be made before taking any action.
I'll send the shipping form tonight and start collecting that information. Shipping will be with DHL, and I won't charge anyone affected by the anodizing mismatch. I'll start assembling units, sorting parts, generally just prepare to start shipping again throughout this month, with the aim of beginning shipping towards the end of the month. Please note I currently don't have my car therefore can't get to the office, but should have it by the end of this week. I have an employee helping out with fulfilment, so it will be completed much quicker than previous batches.
I'm deeply sorry it's come to this.
Batch 4: 60% of the shipment arrived today, I should have the other 40% tomorrow. Unfortunately these were shipped to my apartment, and not the office, so I have to transport them over. As stated above, I don't have my car right now, but should by the end of the week. Along with the remaining kits from Batch 3, I'll start preparing to ship these throughout this month, with the aim of beginning shipping towards the end of the month. I'll be sending the shipping form tonight.
Finally, apologies at how overdue this update is. I truly appreciate everyone's patience in the late stages of this.
