Any updates on when the Klippe might launch?
Next week, or the week after hopefully :)

1upkeyboards.com is the one that will decide the time and date. I will try to keep you all posted.
Looking forward to get this first batch sold.

Planning a EU group but now, but I have no date or information on that now.

Do you know what colors will be offered for the Simple/Klippe ?
I think grey, and purple at least. There might be some other colors, but I can't remember right now.

Okay, Grey would probably be my top choice anyways.

Sorry if it's been said already, but has there been a price decided on yet?
Yes the MSRP is 179 USD

And, last question.

Is there going to be a limit on how many people can join the GB like how the last one was?
1upkeyboards will have these ready in stock. There is limited stock of course.

Ah,  I really hope I'm able to get one in the color I want before they sell out.

As mentioned previously — LeandreN will be running a group buy for Europeans at a later date.

$179 for the Klippe is for the case only right? Are you still planning on running it as a kit as well?

Is the one in the pictures you've posted grey, or is it kind of a olive green color?
It would be awesome to see a light olive green as a color option.

That's what I thought. Must be that spacebar messing with my eyes  :p
A case color around the same as that spacebar would be absolutely amazing.

Think it means cliff.

And sorry to ask again, but any word on whether the $180 USD is the kit price or case price LeandreN? Cause iirc the original goal was $200 for a kit.

From what I know it was always just the case, and in the last updates it was also only the case : https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=88279.msg2478011#msg2478011

180$/200$ for a kit (case+PCB+plate) is more taobao/aliexpress area...

180 USD is the retail price for the case only.

I agree that it would be an insanely good price lol, but I was going off the estimate at the beginning of this thread that describes it as a High Quality 60% Kit for $200.

Keep in mind this a cerakote finish done by a third party. However, the FJELL in white is stunning and would love if LeandreN was able to propose it in the future round (I am not keeping my hopes up though).

the color and texture looks like it is done by MAO, quite similar to Able and Skog. So no worry, it is quite common and widely used. But really easy to have scratches and will look more obvious than tradition anodizing

MAO is a harder surface than anodizing. You may be thinking about powder coating. MAO for aluminum creates a thin corundum oxide layer. Natural corundum is also know as ruby or sapphire. The only thing that should scratch mao is diamond.

my fault, it is not scratch, it is like broken.

Diamond has the highest hardness, but fragile.

yes I know.

I showed the image to a guy working with an aluminum factory where many customized mechanical keyboards are produced, he told me it is MAO.

Then I do some Google and I found cerkote and MAO should mean the same thing. cerkote is the name of the result, while MAO is the name of the processing.

Whatever I'm not too care about the fact actually cause I didn't see it in real life, so I may be wrong.  :p

My favorite is the anodizing white FJELL. I saw some before, they are really damn beautiful.

This is 100% false. Cerakote is a thin film ceramic coating. It is sprayed on and then cured (baked) hard.

Micro-Arc Oxidation or Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation is a chemical process like anodizing. It involves submerging the metal in an electrolytic solution and blasted with high voltage which causes plasma to form and a crystalline ceramic oxide layer to form into the surface of the metal through subsuface Oxidation.

It yields a smoother finish than any anodizing and is ~5x harder than hard anodizing (dark grey like pots and pans). If you scratch or chip a PEO case you are trying really hard. PEO is one of the hardening techniques used to coat aluminum parts to make them viable to replace steel parts. It's REALLY durable.

I came back to respond but you beat me to it.

All that to say pretty please with sugar consider a white finish for R2 LeandreN!

Britain head for exit april 2019. Sounds about the right timeline to make it.  :D  :D
Most GB's are not run in europe, so that wont really matter. We also don't know to much about the brexit. If it happends, it will probably be even later.

Is everything going to be much more expensive after Brexit? Not just keyboards but food  etc.
At this point your guess is as good as any one else's. Regardless, I'm pretty sure LeanreN will have something going before 2019.

I've tried to read through the entire post, but wanted to check in case it was common knowledge.

Will the Fjell round 2 be a lottery as with round 1?  Or will it be to order / preorder?
I've been on the Mekanisk newsletter as soon as I realise done existed.

I'm a fan of your work Leandren hah.

They look so delicious. When will those simple cases be available on 1up? Any rough estimate?

A fullsize 104-key ANSI keyboard would be excellent. The few aluminium options for this board around the world are weird and unsatisfactory in different ways - unaesthetic form factor, weird ergonomics, unsatisfactory build quality. Just name your price.
