⧰ BEHOLD ⧰
The Harkonnen’s Fortress Keycap

This is an Interest Check for Harkonnen's Fortress Premium Silver Keycap.
A homage to H.R.Giger's art concept for Jodorowsky adaptation of Frank Herbert's 'DUNE'.
This movie never came to happen. However,  their work became an inspiration for generations of artists.
We are one of them.

H.R. Giger said 'My planet was ruled by evil, a place where black magic was practised, aggressions were let loose, and intemperance and perversion were the order of the day.
Just the place for me, in fact. The castle itself, a symbol of intemperance, exploitation, aggression and brutality with a magical aura which has a negative effect on all the inhabitants, is egg-shaped and mostly buried in the ground.
Like an iceberg which shows only a tenth of its volume, Harkonnen hides its evil deep inside.
The main gate is only an entrance, never an exit, for it has barbs like sharks' teeth which prevent anyone from turning back.'

If this GB will be successful, then I have at least few nice ideas both inspired by Giger and Dune universum.

Cool beans.
I generally hate all keycaps. Keycaps are for poofs. Real men touchtype on stems. Non-functional artisans are awesome, I use them for the ESC key ... escape is for cowards anyways, real men go frontal assault.

I know nothing of Dune. Is there any lore behind the face coming off- the skull keycap? Or was it just a drawing he had laying around, an alternate take if you will?

The skull was simply behind the face and in one concept is supposed to be revealed from damages during the assault on the palace.
Jodorowski speaks more about how the Harkonnen's Palace would work in the 'Jodorowsky's Dune' documentary, which I highly recommend, to watch, even for non Dune fans, just to see how many later creations were influenced by concepts made for the movie.

I’ve been watching this one for a while, but I think seeing the bronze prototype really broke the seal. I’m so down for this.

I'm not usually a big fan of skulls, demons, grumpy monsters and the like (not a massive fan of Giger either, though have always respected him a lot). But this piece is a bit different, and a bit special. I think what makes it rise higher than the norm is that it's atmospheric and a little bit sinister without screaming in your face about it, like the average skull/demon/grumpy monster artisan. So, to me at least, it comes across as intriguing, not juvenile. I also really like the way you've blended of machine-like and organic elements (the Giger originals do this too of course, but I think your own touch is visible here) . I'm keeping my eye on this for sure. Świetna robota.  :thumb:
