*SOLD*

Up for sale is my Realforce 103U white/grey variable weight board, with red ESC key installed (as well as grey one--not shown in pic below--but it's included), and leather and wood wrist wrest.  I made the wrist wrest myself from a custom cut and planned red oak board and 1/4" thick, 3" wide, hard leather (well, it's not really "hard", per se, but the point is that it's not thin leather over foam or something like that--it feels like a thick, wide leather belt).  The wrist wrest has 6 non-clip thin, small, round cork feet on it, but they are easily removable if you prefer another kind of non-slip material.  I really love these wide and solid wrist wrests!  I made one also for my HHKB Pro 2.  As can be seen, the height is just a bit below the height of the 103U.  Of course, this type of wrist wrest may not be for everyone, but I do not want to split up the board and rest.  It's a package.

The board is in excellent condition, and it was meticulously cleaned, key by key, with isopropyl alcohol when I bought (and ultimately switched to) my HHKB Pro 2.  All papers, box, and even the plastic bag, that it came with new, are included, and in like-new condition.

I am asking $160 plus $15 shipping via USPS priority mail, with delivery confirmation and insurance, to anywhere in the USA.  I will sell to overseas buyers, but you will need to pay the actual cost for whatever shipping methods and services you want, and I will not declare this item as a "gift" nor put a value on it other than the actual sale value.  The first person to POST "I'll take it" gets it.  Please post or PM with questions.

This is my first transaction on Geekhack, but I am a member of CandlepowerForums.com ("js" is my user name) and you can find cheers for me there (as well as on cpfmarketplace.com).  I stand by my stuff, ship promptly, communicate well, and you will find me to be quite reasonable to deal with.

Thanks for looking!

Does anyone know the main difference between variable and uniform. I would assume t hat people are more used to uniform. Then why is there such a thing with variable weight?

Variable weight has different springs under the different keys so that weaker fingers don't require as much force to press down keys. Uniform uses the same springs everywhere.

Variable weight makes more sense ergonomically. Your pinkies are not as strong as your index fingers so the keys beneath your pinkies should take less force to actuate. This should honestly probably be a standard thing, since most people use keyboards for typing, and uniform should be something that's gamer specific/other special purpose (applications where you don't really touch type but hunt and peck, like at a cash register).
Layout: Colemak
Fastest typing speed: 131 WPM on typeracer, 136 WPM on 10fastfingers.
Daily driver: Filco Tenkeyless MX Brown with ergonomically weighted, lubed springs.
Ergo keyboards: Truly Ergonomic, Kinesis Advantage, Ergodox

Honestly, I too prefer uniform 45g to variable.  But not by a lot.  I would totally take a variable Realforce over any other non-Topre keyboard, for example.  But I do prefer my HHKB Pro 2 key feel (all 45g) to the 103U (hence the reason I am selling it).

Anyway . . . final price drop: $160 + $15 shipping.  I will take this listing down in approximately 24 hours.

Thanks for looking and posting everyone!

I know someone will take it before this happens but if it could go for ~$160 shipped I'd probably take it.

$175 for a RF KB+Wrist Rest is a damn good deal.

Without a doubt, but when you work only ~8hrs a week at minimum wage, It's a decent investment too.

You'll buy a Topre eventually. This is a good deal especially if you like using wrist rest. Just checked EK and it's around $250 shipped. I'm typing on the same board right now. It's my main board at home.

Probably closest to MX brown. I think the heaviest keys are 45g.

Considering I was about to grab a brown filco, I'd be stupid to not get this.

Honestly, its a total steal for the board. They retain value well, and you may be able to sell it for closer to market value if you ever sell it, granted I would sell for the price you paid/a bit more, don't WalletHack anyone. :)

LOL!  Thanks for all the posts everyone!

oTurtlez, PM sent with my paypal info.  Once I receive funds, I will edit the thread title to indicate that it is sold.

To those who PM'd me, sorry, but I did indicate that sale would go to the first person to POST "I'll take it".  If you want to be the backup in case the sale to oTurtlez falls through, please POST that info here in the thread.
