Apologies in advance for the noobie questions.

1. What is the PayPal address supposed to be on the form?  Is that the email address associated with my PayPal account?

2. Does anybody have advice on how to get either stabilizer bars (I assume Matias is our best hope) or at least the appropriate wire to try to bend?  I have a V60MTS, so I'd need to get costar inserts and Cherry-style Alps thickness wires... I think?

Thanks!

On No. 2, if nothing else materializes, you might try a hobby shop.  There are some stiff wires that would probably make good stabilizer bars, that they sell for use in things like making handrails for model trains.

I think "piano wire" or "music wire" is the stuff you're looking for. Just need to find the right diameter, which is posted on the reddit wiki. I think it's just under 1mm.

Hey, you.

Yeah, you. The one who is reading this thread but hasn't joined the group buy yet. I need to ask you a question.

What are you waiting for?

Maybe you don't like custom keycaps? No, that can't be it. Maybe you already have BX teal blue Alps modifier keys in a curved profile with awesome custom legends? No, that's not it either. Maybe you can think of a better way to spend this kind of money? No, that's definitely not it. So what's holding you back? These BX teal blue Alps modifier keys in a curved profile with awesome custom legends are as nice as they come. There is literally no Alps board that couldn't benefit from this buy.

Maybe you're waiting for some big company to save the day. Maybe that will happen, or maybe not. You don't really have any say-so or control over that. But in this group buy you do have a voice. You do have control. You and I, and everyone in this buy has the power to shape the future landscape of the keyboard community. How many people do you think have said, "I like Alps switches but I don't want to buy a board that I can't get caps for," and end up getting Cherry MX switches instead? Don't you think a few glamour shots of decked-out Alps boards might sway their opinions? Then in turn, come time for the next Alps group buy, there are that many more Alps boards out in the wild.

It's time to break the vicious cycle!

So, for the stabs situation, would picking up some costar inserts and wire stabilizers from WASD be all that's needed to make these work with a V60MTS?  I currently have one (clicky) and another on preorder (quiet click).  Eagerly looking forward to getting some nicer caps on them.  :thumb:

Alright gonna reply to myself on this one.  I don't think this plan will work unless I can source some custom wires.  I tried fitting some 2x costar stabs from my other boards into the V60 plate mounts and they were just a tad bit too short.

Yeah, the alps wire is shorter and also a thinner gauge.  You will need to either bend your own in the smaller gauge, or wait and see if Matias gets a set done (there was talk of this happening).

I'm in. I don't have the infinity, so I could use a bunch of blank 1u keys and an ISO enter, but with Alps caps I'll take what I can get.

Yes, ISO-mods with the stabilizer style Matias is pushing for the enter-key would be awesome IMO (I hope his will be the standard in the future), hopefully this will be possible in future buys if alps-kits get more popular. I'm joining since I can use most of the caps even tho I'm ISO user and I feel it is important to support this buy since it enhances the likelihood of future buys happening. If nothing else, it's for a good cause. :D

I can't remember if I've thrown my hat anywhere into this GB. Can someone who can tell, let me know?

I think the last I read, it was set to end at the end of the month ... when I've got basically no money. If it's set to end mid-month, I can afford this set, maybe.

Okay, hopefully my bad memory doesn't screw with your numbers.

I'll just say it publicly so I'm more likely to remember: in for one @ 50# price-point.

Maybe getting this will force me to complete my handwired 60% board, hmm?

There is no base set to compliment this set. The colours should work for pretty much any set out there however.
PBT as far as we know is not a possibility with DCS ALPS caps.
The alps mechanism uses a significant portion of the stem as part of its mechanism. That is why ALPS caps have their stem go inside the switch stem instead of vice versa like on MX. MX adapters can only be made possible by adding an mx stem on top of the existing alps stem thus greatly increasing the height.

Looking forward to the outcome of this set and possibly most likely picking up a set. This hobby even tho just beginning for me can obviously be quite an expensive hobby. Or life.
