Title: Keyboard of the month - May - Nominations
Post by: katushkin on Mon, 18 May 2015, 08:16:09
It's that time again. I've just got back from holiday so I'm sorry if it's a bit delayed. I'm also getting closer to where I can move into my house so I may be a bit less active on here over the next few months, but I will endeavour to get one of these threads up when they need to go up. Anyway.

Here is the nomination thread for the month of May. You should all know the rules by now, but if you don't, you can find the full list hidden at the bottom of this post.

Last month's winner was Snoopy with his awesome Kish.

Commiserations to Punksdead and Hwood.

So, nominations are open. Please post boards that have been posted to the forums in the month of May, preferably WITH A PICTURE, and WITH A LINK TO THE ORIGINAL POSTING to verify eligibility.

Previous threads can be found here:

And the rules can be found here:

More
1.   A nomination thread will go up for the last two weeks of every month. You can nominate anybody you like, (even yourself) and any person can have any number of nominations every month.

a.   These boards should be ones you are drawn to, ones that stand out for one reason or another. Keysets, modifications, whatever you fancy. I don’t want to have to post guidelines or restrictions on the boards, but I may change this depending on the types of submissions we get over the first few months. Please also say a little bit about each board you nominate, as to the reasons why you think it deserves to be up for KOTM.

b.   The board must have been posted to the forums since the start of the calendar month. It can have been posted before then, but you must provide a link to the images that were posted after the first day of the calendar month.

c.   Keyboards may be resubmitted in subsequent months, but they must have had a picture or progress posted within the calendar month that they are nominated for.

d.   NO THEMES RIGHT NOW. These may or may not follow in the coming months. This also may or may not tie in with the calendar that may or may not happen at the end of next year.

2.   However, after the initial two week period of nominations, a user will only have ONE board get through to the final public voting process. The final three nominees will be selected by myself from the most nominated and praised board in the nomination thread. E.G. If one board is posted and has the most +1s, quotes or references  by other users in said thread, that will be chosen as one of the final three. Essentially, there is a crowd unofficial voting before the public voting. The final three are not up to me, they are up to you.

3.   PLEASE post some good quality photos of the board you are nominating. I’m not looking for Macro lenses and DSLRs, but maybe more than one, top down, blurry shot would be nice. I realise if it isn’t your board there isn’t much you can do about it, but just pick a couple that aren’t terrible from an album or post.

4.   On the 1st of every month, a poll thread will go up. This will consist of three finalists. Again, a user will only have one of their boards get through to this stage during any particular month. You can of course be nominated on another month. There will be one vote per person, and the results will remain anonymous until the voting closes.

5.   After a period of one week, the voting will be closed and a winner will be announced. The winner will be posted both on that month's voting thread, and the following month's nominations thread. I’m not sure if there will be a prize every month, but if there is then I will sort it out and backdate it if I come up with one in a few months time.

6.   The winner of each monthly process will go through to the ANNUAL KEYBOARD OF THE YEAR process, and the winner of the will DEFINITELY win a prize which I will work out in a year’s time.

Nominations will close on or around the 31st of May.

Sigh.

I didn't dare join last month's competition after seeing Snoopy's Kishsaver. Now this month Metalliqaz comes along with his Zeta. Once again I will not upload photos of my Tipro. Maybe June will be kinder to me.

If Japanese mecha anime robots could ****, what would it look like? Now we know...   :p

This board looks literally pulled out of the butt of some 1970s Voltron or Macross robot...  :))

Quick question:

Once you've "lost" a round, can your board be put back up? Or are you labeled a loser forever and ever and eva-eva?

iirc it says in OP that boards qualify to be nominated in the month that that are originally posted or something along those lines, probably could if you did something to it since.

If the board has been changed, and has been posted within the month you are nominating it for, then you can nominate it again.

When I say changed, I don't mean like an artisan added, but some decent change like a keyset or case change. Otherwise people could just keep nominating their board over and over hoping to win eventually.

IBM 92G7461 M13 Trackpoint II

https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=33088.msg1746509#msg1746509

Transformed from a keyboard that was nearly parted out, to a complete restore.
It was a mess, so much in fact, I had to send it to Maxx from Phosphorglow to finish it up.
I am so glad I did!  I guess this would qualify for a May entry.

I believe this keyboard went through a run in a dishwasher.  A FULL cycle.

I think we should make a difference between project of the month and keyboard of the month.

Project of the month, the zeta wins hands down which it deserves.

Keyboard of the month is more subjective. EG people who don't like that black and magenta look will not be voting for the zeta.

Not this month. My Tipro is mostly finished so there will be minimal changes if at all. Won't be able to enter it a second time. So better wait until the competition is less stiff.

I'm still waiting the stars to align so I can do a Miami HHKB  with that Brocap and hopefully a compatible spacebar.  :)

If that happens. I can die in peace..

Oh yeah, +1

Has kurplop's Alumaplop ever been entered? If not it looks like it was finally finished this weekend and I think it deserves a nomination: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=67467.msg1756608#msg1756608

Some great boards this month.

Someone said they were going to nominate it for June.

Damn this month is stacked. I really don't know how to choose between metalliqaz, Rose, or kurplop :(. Good thing I don't have to choose :D

Some great boards this month.

The Captain nominated it while it was still in the build phase, but I have seen it this month and it looks great.

I'm going to have a lot of nominations to trawl through this month, dayum.

Yep. At this rate I'm just going to abstain from voting. The kish vs others was easy peasy for me. This one unpossible.
