Back in 2020, the Yuemi MK03C 'mechanical keyboard' was everywhere, at really cheap prices. This was a normal rubberdome membrane with a completely passive 'switch' on top of it that takes normal MX keycaps and, when pressed, pushes a pin out against the membrane. Chyrosran22 reviewed one here:


Consensus: remarkably good for the price (but still not very good).

Whatever happened to these? I'd have thought the technology would have been everywhere as it allows much simpler keyboard construction, but instead they seem to have vanished with nary a ripple.

I ask because I'm actually interested in getting hold of the 'switches' (what's a good name for these, given they have no actual switch mechanism in them?) because I want to retrofit an existing membrane keyboard, and they look both ideal and ridiculously cheap. If only anyone actually sold them any more...
