I need to find weird computer mice
« on: Tue, 12 March 2019, 20:33:07 »
I am seeing these articles online that provide the link to them, but most of them are currently unavailable.

Looking to find something that's really weird, like a brain mouse or a ghost mouse.
Edit: found one weird mice, 800 dpi and turns into a robot dinosaur on amazon.

Are you looking for novelty items or for different takes on the mouse, from an interaction perspective?

For the latter, I'd recommend looking at the mice in Bill Buxton's Collection. There are both classics and unusual mice in there.
Two other mice (not in there) that I have tried are the Perific (switch between mouse and handheld small trackball) and the PenClic (small mouse with a pen jutting out of it) — neither of them being particularly good. I bought an early generation Ullman/PenClic last week and it is just awful.
Check also out the Hela Glider Mouse and the FPSGun.

Ergonomic mice are some of the weirdest mice yet. They are better on the hands, but ultimately look really weird. I reckon searching them up, they are sold on massdrop and many other places. ;)

I saw one of these at an action site. I had never seen one before: A mouse with a built-in scanner.

Oh my, the TrackPoint Mouse G1 looks like a lovely intellectual torture device.  I would never have guessed that the first 'mouse' with XY scrolling was actually a trackpoint disguised as a mouse.  Wild.

I think Buxton mislabelled those mice. IBM marketed them as "ScrollPoint". (If you like me look out for them on auction sites, that's the correct search term)

Ah ok, so an actual mouse with extended scrolling capabilities.
