[IC] SP SA Handarbeit+
« on: Thu, 18 March 2021, 08:30:44 »
Hello Guys!
Here I come back again with SA Handarbeit+ keyset which is one of the most interesting colorway set.

Inspried by Cherry G81-3000HBD OG Handarbeit keyboard.

Some guys have been asking Handarbeit set with SA profile after GMK Handarbeit+ R1 GB, and finally SA Handarbeit+ set was designed.

I'd like to introduce the SA Handarbeit+.

Although SA Handarbeit+ is the same as the colorway of GMK Handarbeit, you can add this to your Handarbeit collection because the profile is different.

Manufacturer : Signature Plastics
When : To be updated (Expect April 2021)
Where : Drop.com

KITS
All kits are being almost finalized, but will consider your suggestions before starting the GB.
Let me know your opinion!

Base : 1-1-2-3-4-3 Profile

Horizontal R3 : 3-3-3-3-3 Profile

Numpad : 1-1-2-3-4-3 Profile

Spacebar : R3 Spacebar and R3/R4 'B' for Alice kayout

RENDERS

Profile Comparison (Base kit vs Horizontal R3)

Enjoy!

... Could there come alternative deep dish homing too for the R3 kit? H, U, N and T in yellow?

Edit: Wasn't aware of the whole situation with Handarbeit, this is a bummer that it went as it seems it did... :(

I'm all for SA handarbeit existing (even though I don't like SA), but it seems odd to me that you would launch this a month before GMK R2 on a different vendor. What's the goal of launching them so close together?

Oh, so this is why you denied permission for SP DSS Hand Work to run, despite the fact that Handarbeit is not an original colorway?

Guess that explains rushing this and GMK R2 out, gotta reestablish your ownership.

Let's just take GMK kitting and render it in SA. rip other board compat that SA can accommodate by putting some effort in to the kits.

If this is true, what a seriously scummy move to do.  No one should support this type of behavior, it's inexcusable.

I guess if we're allowed to take ownership of colors used on old boards and slap down any projects that I don't have to approve of I hereby claim ownership of Beige and Dolch. I'll leave WoB to Drop and BoW to Dixie just because I'm feeling a bit generous.

Here's SP's reasoning for not wanting to run Dss hand work. This convinces me that Coco wasn't willing to provide SP with the facts that Handarbeit was based on an old board to keep the set under his control.

Appreciate the diligent community policing of these threads (no sarcasm, I realize it may come across that way). The IC rules have been updated to remove this Drop-specific rule, as the community as a whole has shifted since the rule was implemented.

I don't see mention of SP's reasoning for not running DSS Handarbeit in that thread, can anyone fill me in on the details? Handarbeit as about as close to public domain as you can get with unique keyset designs... how can any one person possibly claim ownership, aside from perhaps the original Cherry employee that put it together (who I doubt is our affable OP here)?

Yea so basically I designed a set using similar colors but all stock SP chips. The colors were similar to original handarbeit and I titled it hand work. It was set to be in the DSS profile which is a popular profile in the 40s community. I tried to contact coco several times to give a heads up that I was using the similar colors. I even went as far as contacting his original vendors to see if they could contact him/her. I had no luck with contacting so I went on and went with getting quotes from SP for the DSS hand work set. Once I submitted everything Melissa from SP got back to me and said they can’t run the set because the original Creator (coco) did not give permission and went out of their way to contact SP to say so. Essentially coco is gatekeeping colors and it seems like bringing this set to SP is a way to completely cut me out or is a cash grab. Either way it seems a little rude. It ultimately led me to completely change the colors and redesign how I was planning on running the set.

Given the story behind Handarbeit, it feels wrong running it in any other profile other than Cherry.

It also feels wrong starting an interest check for this when a new round of GMK Handarbeit is happening soon.

Damn... That's incredibly ****ty! This set is not coco's design... They even claimed to have "designed" the set a few years ago, after having seen the original. Just...what?

Senior Hoffman, not sure if you have any ties to Drop other then their ownership of this forum, but if you do, will you please inform them of this situation? It's incredibly bad look for them to be running this set given OP's false claims of ownership to the Handarbeit image. Most people around here know that Drop doesn't need more bad PR tied to them. Thanks

So it seems COCO got this Idea way before DSS Hand work was in the plan...

Seems COCO contacted SP and was in the planning with them to run SP Handarbeit BEFORE, DSS Hand work was in plan.

In my eyes, COCO did GMK Handarbeit so he has some credit to "own" the idea of running anything handarbeit-wise.

How different does it have to be to be free to run in your mind?

Remember Coco didn't invent handarbeit at all, just like 7bit didn't invent space cadet, just like oblotsky didn't invent space cadet, just like I didn't invent space cadet, just like hhkbp2 didn't invent space cadet

Fu.. the haters and bandwagoning.

I am buyin! :thumb:
From my understanding SP wasn’t contacted until I posted my interest check for hand work. So yea...I could be wrong but from my contacts it seems I presented dss hand work, then SP was contacted. The reasoning for hand work spawned out of the want for faster turnaround and a new profile. All of which I expressed in my initial interest check. And coincidentally is also mentioned here. I knew there would possibly be a gmk r2 because most popular sets get a r2 but no one knew of a SP variant

How could anyone support this set now that it is clear that someone is trying to take ownership over something that isn’t theirs. The fact that you blocked DSS hand work from running is so scummy I can’t imagine how anyone could support this set.

Thanks

Wow, I hardly comment on these kinds of things but this seems like a downright sh**** thing to do. And it's a shame SP would be willing to go along with this - even worse the issue here is it seems Drop has done a lot of things that are considered 'wrong', but hopefully they'd be willing to hear this out.

Not cool of OP!!
