Nice of you to offer this. Phantoms are kind of a ***** to build. The diodes are very tedious to place and solder, and the Teensy is very tricky to get done right. I've yet to mod my switches, i.e. lubing and stickering, but I'm sure that will be quite a chore, as well. Mounting the switches to the plate and soldering those to the PCB is a relaxing breeze compared to the rest.
Maybe.... Not sure if I could make it myself ><.and thats why this interest check was started
any possibility of you guys assembling GH60's once those are ready too? :))yep just talked it over with MiMic hopefulyy a IC check thread for that should be popping up soon.
Nice one, be sure to use SMD diodes and invest in a cable bender like litster used for the 7 unit space bars. Will you offer a cherry or costar stabiliser option?Did anyone ever do SMD diodes on a Phantom as I have not heard of anyone doing that. I will be using Cherry Stabilizers preferably and once I find a place that sells plate mount as I have only found PCB mount. yes I would like to see a nice custom case but i dont know if that actually going to happen this time around though I would think it wouuld for the Phantom v2 if that ever happens.
I loved assembling mine, but if you haven't got the stuff having it done for you is great.
This time round with the phantom it would be good to see the plate designed to be integrated with a case, like the Korean's do.
Maybe prof can get some DIY kits rolling like the KMACs where everything is included :D
Is it possible for me to get equipments only? I would really rather assemble them myself, but finding everything else other than the pcb might be a hassle. Thanks.I dont plan to run a GB for all of the parts separately as the sorting for the amount of people expected to be in the GB would be a very large amount and ive only hear horror stories from the last GB. Also everything should be readily available ill just be buying in larger quantities hopfully.
this was done last GB ans was reportedly hell so im really not so interested in doing that...Maybe prof can get some DIY kits rolling like the KMACs where everything is included :D
Hey prof, maybe you didnt see this, but some of the people are looking for smth like this :D
Maybe to address some concerns? :)) :))

+1 and I've only been doing one Kmac. I wouldn't do it for money. Just so bloody tedious.
Awesome you're doing this prof :)
I would probably be interested in this because soldering diodes is difficult right? That and I can be lazy, and after my full ergo clear mod to my FC700R that took probably 4 hours total I really appreciate the work involved in offering a service like this.
One of the large problems with sorting components for the previous group buys was that we got the diodes in bulk (loose one by one) rather than on tape. With tape it is pretty quick to just measure out the correct amount with a ruler and cut. Since diodes are very very cheap when bought in quantities my suggestion would be that they are included in the PCB group buy. Other than diodes only switches and a Teensy is needed. And a few resistors and LEDs, but since people are going to want different colors and with that different resistors, this would be a chore to include.thanks for the insite bpiphanyShow Image(http://i.ebayimg.com/t/100-SANKEN-AL01ZV1-Ultra-Fast-Recovery-Rectifier-Diode-TAPE-NEW-/00/s/MTIwMFgxNjAw/$%28KGrHqRHJFcE918FI6oIBPe2ZcQvmQ~~60_57.JPG)
Tempted to go for it myself but can't decide yet, but as others have said I am definitely down for making up the numbers in bulk purchasing! Slightly off topic, but do we need the Teensy 2 or the 2 with pins?yea ill gets teensys also if the Gb doesnt have them with the PCBs, sorry I didnt include that.
Cheers for running this service! (if there is enough interest)
oOo. So this would basically be the complete thing right? =Dyes
I haven't see any phantoms that are winkeyless layout. Would that be a possible option?Just don't put that switch in when you build it.
I see. I guess the only thing left is the casing itself. =)we are planning to have that as well.
Can I know how much to buy the service?working on it GB thread should be up soon.

If you get too bogged Prof, I'll help.been trying to talk to yo uabout that but you no respond on GTalk or IRC...
Would it be too difficult to get an aluminum casing similar to those korean customs?yes as there is nothing designed yet
I supposed that I have to still put in my order for the phantom pcb gb still even though I have expressed interest here?yes you would
I love soldering keyboards myself. but I would not have time to solder for other people because I am too much of a perfectionist. Glad to see theprofosist is doing this for so many people.
nope nothing cool like that :(I love soldering keyboards myself. but I would not have time to solder for other people because I am too much of a perfectionist. Glad to see theprofosist is doing this for so many people.
I hope TheProfosist knows someone with one of these... Other than forming all the diodes this is a really easy and quick job. It can be soldered with just about any tool. The pads are large and well spaced.
There are tools like this as well http://www.newark.com/duratool/tp-12/component-pre-forming-tool-tp12/dp/61T7848 Though I may have made placed diode pads a bit too close to eachother, I'm not absolutely sure these tools handles that...
