Few quick questions  ;D

The PCB in this Groupbuy is this one, right?
http://winkeyless.kr/product/b-mini-x2-pcb/

The Controller Parts, Diodes and Resistors are part of the shipment?
Or are already solderd to the PCB?

Kind regards

Can you add support for split space bad? (something like "2. 75 1. 25 2. 75)?

This is using the winkeyless.kr PCB, which doesn't support that.

Do we have a choice between North or South LED positions?

Would we have to solder diodes ourselves or can we order them presoldered?

Depends on your location, check the section I made for shipping.

It is that PCB. Parts are already soldered, you'll need to do the resistors yourselves as it depends on what color you want.

Can you add support for split space bad? (something like "2. 75 1. 25 2. 75)?

The PCB doesn't support that so no - see the colorful picture for layout options.

Do we have a choice between North or South LED positions?

I'll be picking South facing, so that the Cherry logo is the right way. If this is an issue for everyone in the GB then I'll change it.

Would we have to solder diodes ourselves or can we order them presoldered?

If you want to solder them, chose it on the form. If not, I'll be doing the soldering.

do u have any prototype of this keyboard?

No. But everything fits due to the simplicity of it. It would cost $270ish per kit if I ordered 1.

Here is a different layout/keyboard but the exact same idea. It will look like this but 75% layout.

Here is an example photo of what an assembled ANSI 1.50 Winkey kit looks like: (credit to jdcarpe)

It is a standard winkeyless PCB therefore you can program it how you want, see this setup guide here (http://blog.winkeyless.kr/183) for more information.

Shipping should be around $18 - how did you come to that price?

I really cant say, most likely I entered some wrong informations

can you please update the thread how many kits are sold? I think I would join (most likely) for the 135$ option.

How much is an backplate/top plate? And is money saving if soldering diodes myself possible?

I've added an option in the form to commit at $135. The top/bottom plates would be -$50 from each price point. My soldering is free; the option is just there in case someone want's to solder the diodes on themselves.

Essentially yes - it's more like 65/35 due to the complexity of the top plate.

You really should have a prototype made, just to make sure that the top plate fits.  It would be a waste of alot of people's money if these were cut and it turned out that something was a fraction of a millimeter off...

What would be able to go wrong? Many people have used the exact same service and process to do what I'm doing and it's worked out fine. I've spoke to a few people that generated the files through swillkb and then used BBS and it's gone flawlessly.

The whole reason this came about is due to a one off being very expensive - a few people said they'd be interested in doing a tiny group buy around it so I'm offering it to everybody.

I'll be running more skeleton group buys if this goes well, so feel free to join those. If you're sceptical now, then I will refund your money if it goes wrong for you.

That's kind of vague.  Perhaps pics of these completed projects?

For a person who has classified sales because "money," and backs in and out of group buys, you don't exactly inspire confidence in being able to issue refunds if something goes wrong.

I wish you luck in this, and I hope it goes off without a hitch.

Just want to point out something, I remembered something was odd about winkeyless pcb when I built mine so I took a look at the case drawing on his site.

As you can see the backspace and left shift have reversed orientation for stabilizers, right now your schematic has all the stabilizers facing south. You might run into clearance issue with that.

Also just a minor point but stepped cap support would be nice.

This is exactly why you build a prototype and do a fit check.

The stabilizers are pcb mount, so the wires should be under the plate.  The stabilizer holes he's chosen will not have any sort of issues.

Neither plate doesn't support plate mount stabilizers. This means that the wires are under the plate.

The PCB doesn't support stepped caps lock - it would be nice but its impossible.

I've contacted Hojin for clarification on the stepped caps lock support as his pictures conflict.

I've also posted an update in the 2nd post of this thread.

The holes are OK, but their orientations are not compatible with the chosen pcb. Glancing the pcb I see that the ANSI enter and spacebar are OK, all other stabilizer notches should be rotated 180 degrees around the stabilized switch.

Good news - yuktsi, the creator of the TGR customs, has taken time to create a new top plate design to accommodate for the PCB compatible stabilizers.  I will update the main post with updated screenshots and compatibility previews in a hour or so. I will still be getting a prototype made, just to be sure, and I would like to deeply thank yuktsi for the assistance.

A bit of a late reply from me. The updated plate design looks to be compatible with the pcb. My only complaint would be that the ISO enter area is a bit lazily drawn and the switch is not supported by the plate from the right side. Take a look at Gon tkl plate design for the 'optimal' shape, just add the switch top removal notches.

If you can help me make this addition to the file then that'd be great, otherwise you have to understand that my options are limited and it won't make a noticeable difference. Take the Orion V2 as an example, same as mine and no one complained. A prototype is currently in production - I will see if it makes a difference.

In celebration and slight thinking, I'm now offering the option for you to receive a completed keyboard. All you have to do is pay for the extra switches and stabilizers. I am very interested in this group buy and have a few questions.

What kind of cable is needed for this keyboard?
I can see some kind of plug, so I am assuming USB mini b to USB A. winkeyless.kr merely says "USB/PS2 Combo"

Does the plate allow solderless switch opening?
I think I can see the what appear to be the notches for it in the plate, am I right?

Does your stabilizer set for 6.25 support the standard ISO layout?

Also, would it be okay to you if I withdrew my money if I didn't receive the kit within 150 days after payment?
sprit still owes me a 75% kit worth more than 300 bucks which I will probably never receive and I can't retreive my money. I am glad paypal at least extended the time span to 180 days... I just have become extremely cautious since sprit...

It's Mini USB.

You can open the switch without desoldering.

Both sets support ISO layout.

Sure, but I'm going to deliver and give daily updates. I will personally send you the money if it isn't shipped within 180 days providing everything goes well.

This GB is getting harder and harder to resist joining into. Just a question, the SMD RGB leds already come with it soldered right?

No SMD RGB installed or included. I can add them to your order however.

Ahh gotcha, will definitely see if I can save enough to get in before it all ends. Thanks and goodluck with the GB!

Couple people dropped out which takes total down to 17. Gateron GB closed and I potentially have a keyboards worth of Gateron Brown switches. I will be looking into other sources of switches, so for now I've left some options up for now of what I personally have.

I'll have to speak to Hojin about this as a couple of people have asked and I want to be certain, but I will if it's fine with him.

Massdrop submitted their order for the Gateron switches this morning.

I've decided I'll be making batches depending on the options for each order, this way I can provide more accurate shipping. Kits that need no work will be in the first, diodes soldered in the 2nd and fully assembled boards in the 3rd batch. I'll give more information when I figure this out, but this way I'll be able to sort orders a bit.

I've sent an email to Hojin just to confirm stabilizer and SMD LED availability.

As far as I can tell they're $11 so that's the price, there will be no charge for me soldering.

This is something you'd have to do yourself as it would require changing the whole plate for everyone.

So due to R3 Zealio, I added the option for that. He said shipping is mid June therefore shipping will be delayed until I get them so I recommend only selecting this if you want a fully assembled board.

If you've already ordered some, I will be trying to find some as zealpc.net ran out of stock real quick.

Currently on 24 orders with 8 days till closure.

I added SMD LEDs to the form, if you haven't already communicated with me about having these in addition, then refill the form or just email me if you want then.

7 days left now.

Before I pay would I be able to check if I got everything I need?
(gateron brown, with soldered diodes, stabilizers, SMD LEDs, not assembled)

This is a really cool GB. Thank you!

Is the actuation point on the Gateron Blacks higher than Cherry? I'm using an RC930 with Topre clones (my first mechanical since IBM back in high school) and after using Macbook chicklet for so long I keep mistyping due to extra keys registering. A longer throw would really help me I think.

Also, are the LEDs for each key or for the case lighting?

Sorry about the noob questions.

They're at the same point, cherry blacks are heavier. LEDs are for the case.

Sorry about the noob questions.

I had the same issue going from scissor keys to cherry reds. I found that the lower profile of keys (cherry profile) plus the lighter switch is what made me have so many extra key typing errors, it was just too easy to accidently press a key to the sides. Once I switched to a thick PBT OEM profile on the reds I was much more accurate since the key presses felt heavier. I do also have a keyboard with outemo blacks that I don't have accidental mistypes on because its heavier but the smaller profile of cherry keys feels lighter and more comfortable on this keyboard.

TL;DR the switch type matters for typing accuracy but the profile of the keys can also change the way it feels. Hope that helps!

on topic, stoked for more 75% keyboards!

Just over 23 hours left on this! Sitting at 32 kits at the minute.

Minor update - custom foam and boxes are being worked on. I want to get this right and with no shipping defects so just finalizing sizing and whatever.

Gateron switches that were ordered before the 17th are being processed by Massdrop's vendor. Next Massdrop update is on the 9th or earlier.

Some complications have arisen when I was trying to get my PayPal limits increased. This means that my account will not be able to have the limit increased until approximately the 20th of May. It isn't all bad news, as I'm still able to go up to the limit. Following this news, a couple of things will happen:

1) I will reopen the group buy until I am able to increase the limit.
2) Anybody that is interested in anodizing both plates will be able to pay, you should message me able this.
3) The estimated shipping dates will change - looking at mid June now.

I wish there was more I could do, but I can't. I apologise for this.

If there are any problems, please let me know as soon as possible so we can work something out.

That will be great! I'm the kind of paranoid person who will constantly worry that I filled out something wrong, and this will save you from constant "can I check my order" messages. May I request that the form has entries for what you haven't selected as well, for example "Stepped Capslock: No", just for added clarity?

May I quickly check that that the switches will be orientated with the Cherry/Gateron logo at the top (the logo is not upside down)? I discovered yesterday that a keycap that I am planning to have on the keyboard does not fit on upside-down switches.

First batch of Gateron switches are at customs. I've decided that Originative will be my second batch source, so shout out to them. WKL will provide stabilizers, SMDs and PCBs whilst Zeal will provide Zealio switches (kinda obvious).

Excellent, it would annoy me too. I think my YOTG only has them upside-down for the LEDs.

Spreadsheet updated. Couple of people have dropped out without even messaging me which is a shame. I'm trying to keep on top of the spreadsheet as much as possible, so let me know if something is wrong because it might be.

Regarding anodizing, I have to order with the company before they can assess anodizing costs, so this is down the line. I'm definitely getting stuff done so it's whether people that are interested want to wait a bit longer to see what happens on that side of stuff.

I'd be surprised if their free shipping covered Germany, where he apparently is. That said, you can just make your own ghetto tools from binder clips pretty easily, and they can be had for much less than $7.

I'm expecting them to ship next week.

FYI I will be away for a week on the 28th for my 2 year anniversary with my girlfriend but the PCBs will still be delivered as others are at home. I'll be having a days rest after I get back and then cranking out 3/4 PCBs a day.

The shortest spacer might be 8mm, 9 would be getting uncomfortable but 10 would be fine. It's possible to have the acrylic layer made - I'm going to be making the file this week before I go away.

Already designed a 75% CNC thing, although it's a fully custom keyboard so around the $400 mark depending on the amount of people.

$400 for an anodized skeleton kit? IDK anything about pricing but that SEEMS like a lot, like... octagon status haha

I also joined that pre-order, but had to pull out when I realised that it is missing one of the bare-necessary ISO keys (~/#), despite having the enter. I could understand if it was missing the |/\ key, since some layouts have ISO enter but a long left shift, but the lack of an extra R3 (even blank) is inexplicable.

Sorry for lack of updates because of my trip. I came home to everything from Zeal and Hojin of Winkeyless. The only thing missing is Gateron switches from sherryton due to a translation issue with his supplier.

I just have to buy a soldering iron and then get cracking. So first orders will start shipping once I find some decent boxes (which is more difficult than I bloody thought).

EDIT: I have soldered several boards before, I just need to buy a new soldering iron.

Who knew kitkats were a critical component of mechanical keyboards?

Also, the FX-888D is a pretty good choice for keyboard soldering, although for non-keyboard uses it can have some problems working with larger thermal mass components.

Got an update/schedule for this week?
Title: Re: [GB] 75% Skeleton Keyboard Kit (Waiting for PCBs/switches)
Post by: HMS Roebuck on Tue, 19 July 2016, 13:42:40
Ordering parts tomorrow, I cancelled the remaining invoices. Plates should take a few days to be made and to arrive so sneak shots will be coming soon.

Parts were all ordered on 5/27 but we don't have an update saying you have them all almost 2 months later.  Did you not order them all as you stated?

Update 4 - 5/1/2016

Update 5 - 5/20/2016

All invoices were sent by the end of the 19th, therefore all must be paid for by the 26th. If anyone has any issues, please get in touch. I'll be ordering parts as soon as everyone has paid or on the 27th, depending on which comes first.

Ordering was delayed because of Paypal.  Ship date changed to mid June.  It is now mid July and we still don't have the parts let alone the keyboards actually shipped.

No update. PCBs are in production. I'm still alive. Everything seems well.
Do you have an ETA on the pcbs so we can get an idea of how long this delay will be?
I'm expecting them to ship next week.

FYI I will be away for a week on the 28th for my 2 year anniversary with my girlfriend but the PCBs will still be delivered as others are at home. I'll be having a days rest after I get back and then cranking out 3/4 PCBs a day.

You stated after every delay so far that you would begin on them after your vacation.  You state that you were leaving for a week on the 28th.  That would have mean starting the keyboards would have started on ~6th of July.  Let's assume you took an extra long vacation and stayed the next weekend until the 10th.  This would mean starting Monday the 11th you would start doing 3/4 a day as you stated you would.  As of yesterday you should have 24 boards done using your low number of 3 a day.

Sometime today you should have finished the 25th board and every one should be done.

Are they being shipped in the next few days or are there lies in your posts?  Where did you mess up?  When can we expect what we paid for or should we be reaching out to paypal for refunds?

I think I clearly posted I have all the parts apart from the switches due to an error out of my control.

To answer the some of your comment:

2 orders will go out in the next week as I'm waiting on boxes at the minute. I personally did not mess up, but this group buy was hurt when 15+ people dropped out. You can expect your orders shipped as soon as I've finished the soldering. If you reach out to PayPal for a refund then you have to understand that I stated that assembled orders will take longer, and that you agreed to that.

At this point I'd be happy to go back on my word and charge people for soldering but I'm not going to do that, you'll just have to wait.

  • Shipping was delayed due to a lot of underestimations on my part.
  • I don't have a soldering iron yet, and 22 want it done for free - including you.
2 orders will go out in the next week as I'm waiting on boxes at the minute.

I'm quickly realizing why 15+ people dropped out

Also I think this single line alone should be enough to disqualify you from ever running another group buy on this site.  You are threatening to change the offer just because you are being called out for your numerous mistakes.

I've updated the spreadsheet to represent the order in which parts will be shipped in.

I'll admit I could've thought things through better but mistakes are and have been made. It's been 2 months since I took payment, things could be a lot worse.

Do you want it unassembled or assembled? Your order is at the bottom because your kit is waiting for switches, wants assembly and requires SMDs.

By participating in a group buy, you inherently agree to put forth the money for the creation of a custom, made-to-order product that is not easily available elsewhere.

The majority of the money is not with the group buy leader, and the GB leader, in most cases, is not a vendor who is obligated to kiss your feet and provide Amazon-like customer service by bending over and letting you go to town with your self-entitlement in tow. You're not buying something that's in stock, and delays are very common. Not understanding that and making a beeline for Paypal is equivalent to burning all bridges. Nobody would want to do any business w/ you when you have a track record of jumping the gun and crying to Paypal. You're trying to take the money out of the pocket of the GB leader who is trying to provide a community service, and actively communicating with you in a cordial manner to resolve the current situation.

And that's ****ed up.

No, it's ****ed up to get lied to.  He mentioned he did not mess up and then mentioned how he messed up.  He said he had everything when he didn't.  Multiple people are confused as to what he actually has.  He said he was waiting on switches, boxes, and a soldering iron but now mine is supposed to be shipped next week?  Probably another lie.  I gave my money to someone expecting honesty.  I will gladly burn any bridge necessary to watch this  lying sack of **** burn now

edit: This is kind of funny at this point.  I actually own a custom order business that makes things out of plastics.  If I was a month late I would be expected to return the money or be in small claims court.  It wouldn't matter how much I or my vendors had messed up.  I would definitely not be able to continue to have a business if I threatened a customer in any way like changing their order status because they wanted to know where I messed up and what the new expected delivery was.  Most people want to know if their order is going to come this year.

You started a ****ing claim without even contacting me personally ONCE. There was no effort from you at all to resolve your issue. I, unlike you, am NOT A VENDOR. THIS IS A GROUP BUY. I'm not sure how calling me a lying sack of **** is going to get you anywhere. Your order is going to be shipped unassembled because I offered this as courtesy for people being kind.

This is your first group buy, and I hope it's your last because I don't want you ****ing anyone else over.

I understand that it is painful for your expectations to not be met, but I feel your experience as a business owner is probably skewing your perspective a little here. xondat is not running a business that sells products (even custom ones) on a regular basis, and as such has no hard data to base shipping estimates on, only the estimations of the suppliers he worked with. I'm also assuming that he doesn't have the ability to see the future, but that's probably a safe bet.

If you take a look at past GBs ran here, you will find that most of them do have some degree of slip on shipping dates, because it isn't possible to make accurate estimations for irregular one-off productions like these.

Given that you were unhappy with the timeline and communication, you could have just contacted xondat directly and requested a refund. Your first reaction did not have to be the nuclear option of attacking him in a public forum and opening a PayPal dispute.

You should do some research on GBs man. A 1 month delay is NOTHING comparatively.

My order is now in dispute with paypal because it was not shipped in June as was promised with the original order

This should be your last as you have been lying and avoiding answering questions.  Also you are obviously not following through on your promises as to what would be purchased.  I would not have joined if the soldering was not included

I've been in other group buys for products.  I know that delays are common.  I wouldn't have a problem with the delays if the complete lack of information and multiple lies were not combined with the delay.  The lies and complete lack of when the product should be expected is unacceptable.

My first reaction was not the nuclear one.  Let's make that clear.  I posted on these forums first asking questions on where the mistakes were and what we could expect going forward.  All I got in return were lies and absolutely nothing telling anyone in the group buy what he has or when we can expect the product.  After I received that response I knew that I could no longer trust "xondat" and had only the nuclear option left.

If he simply would've answered the questions telling where the mistakes were and what I could expect going forward then 95% of this wouldn't have happened.

Got an update/schedule for this week?
Schedule is to send out 1 board to someone that can't wait. Other PCBs will be soldered afterwards.

So which switches are missing? In the first post you say that only the regular Gateron switches are missing, is this correct?
See the spreadsheet, the yellow gateron fields are missing. I've reached out to Sherry for an update.

That's literally all you've done, aside from the petitio principii that you've been throwing around.

You must have missed this where I posted clear questions and got nothing but lies in return saying he hadn't messed up right after explaining how he messed up by not having a soldering iron, boxes etc

I will check it once Im at an pc (android..)

IMO the groupbuy is running so far quiet well.
There may be some delays - but I can deal with them. The shipping date is in general always a guess unless your buying from an shop which HAS ANY stuff in stock.
I am looking forward getting the board oneday, no need to rush, but meanwhile Im testing my ergodox, get new keycaps, buy SIPs as well as LEDs..

eventough I hoped to use the spare time in the actual holidays to finish anything.. but will do this later ;)

just my 2ct

I've finished the design of the acrylic middle piece, but will need to get pricing and a prototype. I'll officially support it and have a separate form up soon.

Super tired but here is a super quick but needed update.

I sent off the wrong file for the top plate so therefore the 25 plates I have do not support the 6.25u configuration. This means I have to order a new set of top plates, get them made and have them delivered. This obviously costs a lot so I'll probably have to sell some stuff and put up with that. In the mean time, I will be soldering and having as many PCBs done as possible in order to send as many out as I can once I get the new plates. They should take 3 days to be made and be here on the 4th day however I'm still a tad short so call it a week. Regarding the acrylic diffusers, I can't prototype yet as all funds are going towards the new plates. Sorry for another delay.

TLDR: Plates don't work, I'll order new ones and solder in the time we wait.

Old plate is gray, new one is red. You can see the holes for the switch underneath the gray layer. The cut is complex enough to mean I just have to completely redo the plates instead of sending them back and getting each of them recut.

Honestly I just want to anodise all 24 kits and include a acrylic layer like a GON keyboard.

But no, they'll be raw aluminium like the 7u plates.

What's happening with the 7u plates?
I'll probably sell them cheap to recoup some lost money.

New plates are ordered ETA 1 week. These diodes are a pain to solder. Once I have the new plates all orders that require no assembly will go out. Assembled orders will take longer as I do have a personal life too. Your order will ship quicker if you do not require any assembly. :p

I've begun assembly, mainly diodes, and got my board working. My soldering is pretty ****, and I'd much rather you do it as I don't really feel comfortable doing it. If you don't know anything about soldering and you really want me to do it, I will however it won't be factory perfect. My board is made to work, not to look nice or anything else and yours will be the same. I will need everyone to PM me that wants free soldering work done so we can discuss what I'm doing. For now, I will put a hold onto all work as I really don't feel great about it. Sorry all

I'll definitely make a guide - it's pretty straight forward when you get the hang of it, but the diodes are a pain as they don't have wires and they use pads instead.

So you will be able to ship all orders that require no soldering as soon as the new plates come in and are confirmed to be correct? Which should be end of this week / beginning of next week?

From what I gathered, I believe the switch diodes, SMD LED's for the underglow, and potentially the SMD resistors if they weren't on already. Unless of course, the PCB's already had resistors and SMD LED's soldered on by Hojin (for those that ordered).

If you opted for a full assembly, you're looking at soldering your switches in as well.

That said, I was under the impression that the diodes were supposed to be wired - guess not. SMD soldering is a PITA until you get the motions down.

Diodes, switches and SMDs (if you chose to have them) all require soldering.

I had an email noting that they essentially screwed up the confirmation, I asked for a shipping date and they said the 16th. This means orders that just need packing will go out on the 20th and perhaps a couple of assembled orders along with those.

Not sure how I'm going to go about it. With the current plates it's hard to incorporate it without paying more for new screws/pop nuts. I'll give it some more thought before I officially take orders for it.

What sort of price range should it be in?

Ideally, I'd personally like a design I can cut myself and get the appropriate mounting hardware as needed. I'm not sure how much it would cost for you to do, but I'd like to keep it around the $20 USD range. I'm not familiar with how these things should be priced, though, but the concept itself seems simple.

Okay so I've gone over the plates and in short I'm much happier with them.

This is the 2nd version of the top plate, and with the knowledge from the 1st one, I put that into use and implemented some changes that make it more solid and easier to build with. This in turn makes it visually nicer too. I've got an album here (https://imgur.com/a/KSCB5) that you can check out, but here are the main pictures/changes. I know they don't have mounting holes, I'll be drilling these myself (it allowed me to have a slightly different, better finish from the factory).

I'll work on getting orders that just need packing out within the next week, and I'll be soldering people that have asked me to. If you haven't contacted me yet, please do so we can work something out. Thanks everyone for your extended patience and understanding.

Sorry for the disappointing news but it's out of my control.

A family member's health went downhill overnight, and they're currently in hospital waiting for their liver to become healthy so they can find out what's wrong. I'm not able to get to the PO because of this (I need a lift there as I don't drive).

I really, really thought I could get the first couple out today but it's out of my control. I hope you can forgive the delays and problems, and I'll make sure they won't happen again as long as it's in my control.

The factory that laser cut the plates may be able to use their drilling equipment to do the holes so looking into that, it will be cleaner and so much easier in the current situation.

Thanks for replying, so sorry that I missed this. I only have notifications set up for when someone quotes my post.

I would be happy to give you the money so that you can buy some Costar stabs to then test out in my assembled order - if they work then you can just leave them in, if not then put in the Cherry stabs as were originally planned. I am even happy for you to keep hold of whichever set of stabs are not used, however send them along with the order if you have no use for them.

^Providing that you are okay with that idea of course.^

PM'd both with pictures, I'll also PM people that've asked for soldering to let them reassess... I'm too embarrassed to post them publicly :-[

I'll be sending 3 UK orders out to people soon that can give me feedback on the box/packaging. PM me if you want to be 1 of them. Otherwise unassembled orders will be going out once I have the feedback.

Everything is sorted apart from the diodes (which are a massive pain as they're tiny and I have to count 80 per order) so shipping should be pretty rapid next week. I want this GB wrapped up by the end of the month so I can focus on bigger things. Thanks for the support. :-*

My lift to the PO has been ill this past week, so I've not been able to go. I'm hoping to get a lot out this week, providing their health has recovered. If not then I'll figure something out, but as someone that can't drive it makes things logistically difficult.

Have you figured anything out, yet?

Nope. It's pretty hit and miss, but when I can I take as many as I can (each package takes a few minutes for the girl at the PO to process). For example, today I had half an hour.

Sending packages to Shados, Asbrodeus, and TheMissingPiece today. I am still awaiting confirmation from others, and have sent a follow up email. This (for now) concludes shipping for orders that just require packing. I'll be getting through the diodes and boards that need work doing soon.

Could someone please measure the length & width of the PCB to the millimeter?
Thinking about modding the plates  :)
Thanks in advance!

Very happy to finally receive my board in the mail!  Thanks xondat!

The packaging was good, though the box was heavily dented and not rigid enough.

The plates are sturdy, well cut, and the edges are smooth.  That said, I'm pretty disappointed with the finish as both the top and bottom plate have deep scratches and look like someone took keys to them.
Given the bubble wrap, it's hard to believe the damage happened during transit, though it's hard to say for sure.

Overall, it's still in good shape and I'm excited to get it assembled.

EDIT: Got the diode and switch soldering done, and it's working great.  Thanks again!

Hey dude, it's 320mm wide, and 110mm tall. The mini-USB port sticks 4mm out of the top.

Sorry for the lack of posts - I'm still waiting for a few people to confirm their addresses on PayPal, so I'll send another email out in a couple days.

I'll be taking koriolis and pooogles orders to the PO later tonight. Should be soldering on the weekend with a friend so the 4 people that really want soldered things should have their orders fulfilled soon.

On a side note, your PayPal buyer protection is running out (if this is something major to you). I'm saying this because I can "refresh" it for you by sending you another invoice and then refunding the original payment. This may provide you some comfort, I am not saying this to imply I won't ship your order, just so that you know that is an option to keep you feeling protected

Quick update on middle acrylic layer:

First my 2 cents on initial impressions:
I finally got my package after an extremely long hold at customs. My package was really banged up and opened with the end flap just tucked in. Very surprised i didnt lose anything. While the plate was bubble wrapped together nicely, there was no other cushioning in my package which allowed the plate and switches to tumble freely in the package. (Xonat: Please tape all your seams and use adequate packaging fill so the innards cannot roll around on your next shipments, especially international). There are also quite a few scratches on the plate which kinda sucks but im guessing this is mostly from handling after the manufacturing process. The plate is a little too thick (about 1.75mm) so that the switches dont actually snap in, but they do fit very snugly so not all bad.

Acrylic piece:
http://imgur.com/a/zOQD0 (http://imgur.com/a/zOQD0)
I cut this piece out before i got the plate and it doesnt fit perfectly. The holes line up but the hardware supplied with the kit will not work unless i make them hex shape holes but this may require making the acrylic boundary wider than the plates so that there is acrylic visible on all 4 sides from a top view. This may actually add a bit more dimension to the case and especially if you plan to use led's will add a nice effect. I also test sanded it a little and turned out pretty good. There are a few burrs on it still which will require a little more elbow grease but i think i can reduce that by doing 2 passes on the laser cutter rather than in one pass. It's a little short on the sides so ill need to modify the boundary a little. For the opening of the connector I think it will look and function better if i taper the opening with a rounded edge or flat angle. If you have an opinion please let me know. Hoping to get to the shop this week to test another piece but may not get to it til next week. Just a few minor tweaks to get it right so should be able to start the order process in 2 weeks. Due to limited color selections of 1/2" acrylic at my local supplier i will only be doing clear unless anyone can recommend a good supplier.

Have you tried using different mounting hardware on it? Like, is there a circular standoff that can be used in place of the hexagonal standoffs used? I'd personally prefer the spacer to be flush with the rest of the board. I don't have the board on me so I can't test it myself but maybe your local hardware store supplies something that could be used instead of the hex standoffs used.

Flat angle for the connector and maybe a mm or two wider than the plates for the spacer but I'd still buy if it were flush and round. Looks good!

Acrylic Layer Update:

Order Form: https://goo.gl/forms/toVUjnUvFDY8GtnR2 (https://goo.gl/forms/toVUjnUvFDY8GtnR2)

So i finally made it to the shop to cut the new revision. I cut the holes so that it will fit the existing hardware you got with your kit. This requires the middle piece to be widened a little bit so that it sticks out past the edge of the plates. I can't achieve a nice smooth cut due to the thickness of the piece. It starts to "burr" about 3/4 through the cut so this will require you to sand a bit more to work the edges out. As you can see in my pics i haven't completely worked them out yet and that was about 45 minutes of sanding to get to that point and i havent started to sand the inside yet so im not sure how it will look with the lighting as i have not soldered my board together. Pricing will be about $20 and i have to figure out shipping costs which is TBD. I will keep the form open until November 28th and look to send invoices out on November 30th. I will place the order for the new acrylic pieces on the 5th of December so any unpaid invoices will be cancelled at that point. You can PM me if you have any questions.

Just a quick update to let people still waiting that this will be wrapped up soon.
I'm learning to drive starting on the 6th for several hours a day, having a break over the weekend, and my test will be on the 14th so I won't have much downtime and I'll be pretty exhausted. My friend has been soldering diodes for the people waiting on that, and he should be done by the end of the week. I'm sorry life got in the way and this keeps getting dragged on. I want to have a blank slate going into next year, if this means refunding (if you want), then that can happen.

Just keeping the thread up to date - Phenix's board has been shipped to a friend that's going to build it and send it back by Friday (he should receive Wednesday), and I'll relabel and send it to him the same day.

Regarding the scratches, they're common as the plates are unfinished.

The spacers are these (http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/threaded-standoffs/0222402/?searchTerm=222402&relevancy-data=636F3D3126696E3D4931384E525353746F636B4E756D6265724D504E266C753D656E266D6D3D6D61746368616C6C26706D3D5E5C647B367D247C5E5C647B377D247C5E5C647B31307D2426706F3D313426736E3D592673743D52535F53544F434B5F4E554D4245522677633D4E4F4E45267573743D323232343032267374613D3032323234303226), you could probably step it down to 10mm if you wanted but I found 12mm to be the nicest.

The bottom AND top of the switch are pressed into the plate. The plate does not sit between two halves of the switch.
