Title: TODAY'S WEATHER
Post by: microsoft windows on Fri, 01 November 2013, 09:33:41
So it's drizzling and windy out here, but a little warmer than normal. Not too bad for November I don't think.

What's the weather like where you are at? Do you like the current weather at your location?

We had storms last night, 'almost' tornadoes, it's much cooler today after the cold front passed.

What's up with this howling wind here in CT? It kept me up half the night last night (and on Halloween of all nights).

I need a weather forecast!!!

Uhh wait, I mean... it's warm and dry on Vulcan. As usual...

It's about 26 degrees Celsius here, blue sky, full on sun, slight breeze.

And tomorrow's supposed to have a max of 14 degrees.

Go figure.

Typical Melbourne weather.

Sometimes I really miss San Diego, like seeing the cam. I lived on Bankers Hill, my condo overlooked the SD bay. Pretty pimp.

Now near here, 73 degrees and a few wispy high clouds (live web cam bottom of page):

Heh heh. I know what you mean. They are both great weather spots, but just a couple degrees cooler and a little more water really allows the bay area to edge out SD. Plus the actual land area of bay area is far more interesting than flat-ish, desert SD. That being said, I love SD tremendously, priceless in so many ways. Downtown to Mission Hills, Coronado, Point Loma, Ocean Beach and the stretch of beach from La Jolla to Carlsbad are my stomping grounds.

Today's weather: it pretty much reached the forecast top of 43 degrees, with a low of 28 coming up overnight tonight.

Currently it is about 36 degrees outside, and 35 degrees where I am inside.

We have one air-conditioner in the lounge room.  I am not in the lounge room.

The next few days: 41 degrees Wednesday, 41 Thursday, 42 Friday.

There are all degrees C.  Convert it to another scale as you wish, I don't want to, it is too depressing.

The biggest problem is no cool change overnight.  There is supposed to be one Friday night, but we've got tonight, Thursday, Thursday night and all of Friday to suffer through yet.

Growing up in Adelaide everyone said Melbourne is always cold and wet.  So I move over here and there is a decade of drought and water restrictions, and now these silly temperatures.

That's hot.

This is cold and wet Melbourne, that's just come out of a 10 year drought, and had like 34 degrees today (still 33 degrees at 8pm) and got 39 tomorrow and again on Sunday.

At least growing up in Adelaide everyone used to say that Melbourne was cold and wet.

Maybe it was a lie.

Maybe all these years Melbourne really was hot and dry.

But no, my other half has lived here all her life, and she says it did used to be cold and wet.  Like maximum 30 degrees in the hottest summer, and raining all winter, which would suit me fine.

This is cold and wet Melbourne, that's just come out of a 10 year drought, and had like 34 degrees today (still 33 degrees at 8pm) and got 39 tomorrow and again on Sunday.

How I wish we had 38 or 39 for a few days just to lesson the heat a little.  If it dropped down to 33 or less I think I'll go into instant shock or maybe fool myself into thinking that HELL does freeze over for a short while  ;D .

Once you get use to the heat, very strange feeling when it starts to drop temp fast.

Nothing better than heat, especially here in Perth were it's the best place to live if you're cold blooded  ;D .  The older I get the more I love the heat, winter just slows everything down but summer is perfect for the whole environment.

Hahaha, 0C would be so warm in the winter!  :P  We had a few -40 days this past winter, as you may have heard.  :|  That's a bit beyond my comfort zone.

Also, holy ****.  40C would be so ungodly hot.  I would die.  Unless it's a dry heat, which I am not familiar with.  It was 84F here today (29C), which is about as hot as I can go before I want to die.

Just want those sweat-dripping down your face days to come back.  I miss them already, hate winter always have, always will.

Because it aint hot till you start sweating like a pig  :thumb: .

Always loved the dry heat more than anything, the way the giant furnace crosses the sky burning everything on the ground.  That's why I love my job in the summer because everything becomes clear and simple when you work in that environment.

I always find something more in the desert than any other place on earth.

I was years ago in San Francisco in April and i really like the weather - about 20°C all the time, maybe sometimes hotter, windy, it must be perfect there! I always envy people from California. Maybe the south is too hot. All these fires.

Best weather is 20°C / 68°F with sunshine, some clouds, no wind. Best weather is when you can choose between short on long trousers, and never have to sweat.

Nice thing here: i have winter, summer, spring and fall in all it's beauty and crappiness.

Skinny people sweat as well, just in case you didn't know that  :thumb: .  Out in the desert the fat literally melts off you so if you arrived 20 kgs over weight, in 6 months time you'll leave 40kgs lighter.

Today was one of those days where lunch time comes around and its still only 11 or so degrees.

Last night's shift the temp dropped to minus 2 here in the desert, bloody cold and you still have to empty transmissions, sumps and gears, without bumping your fingers/knuckles or hand.

Of course it's dead quiet at night with no living things flying around the huge lights hence it's not that terrible.

Can't wait for Summer to arrive, hate being cold despite wearing two jumpers and a thick jacket (need to get me some thermal underwear).

It is a bit odd, but I've gotten used to hearing about the heat during the Aussie winter, and the cold during the Aussie summer.

Yesterday was indeed cold and wet.  And windy.  Today is similar.

It was forecast to be 36°C degrees today.

Pretty much reached it.

Then the clouds came over and the rain and thunderstorm started.

And lightning.

Enough lightning to knock out some of the train lines (signal failure due to lightning strikes), and cause blackouts all around.

So no power from about 3pm until about 6pm.

The temperature dropped to about 24°C during the rain, then everything cleared, the sun appeared again, and temperatures rose again to about 36°C.

Humid all day.

Not a very pleasant day at all.

My other half was videoing the lightning, and suddenly shrieked and went inside.  Only this evening when we were watching the video did I see why ...

The trees in the following picture are 2 houses down, and the picture is completely untouched (screenshot from VLC video).

[attachimg=1]

So the lightning grounded between where I was standing and the trees.

Yikes!

WI is snowy right now!  Where I'm at (Eastern) got a bit of snow today (just a few inches, not too much), so driving was fun.  My commute is not long at all, but I did a lot of fish-tailing.  ^.^  IMO, the biggest downside of winter is hearing everyone complain about it (yeah yeah, kinda hypocritical :P ).

Here in Atlanta (aka Hotlanta), Georgia, it has been a sweltering 95F/35C (high) and getting down to 75F/25C at night, for a couple of weeks now.

Fortunately my neighborhood has a swimming pool. That makes for a very refreshing break.

Today's top was around 38.9°C (102.2F).

It is nearly 9pm and still 34.6°C outside (94.3F).

Your weather is truly bizarre. It is early-autumn there, right? And your latitude is about equivalent to mid-Colorado?

Closer to southern Colorado, but yes.  And the only thing south from us, apart from Tasmania, is Antarctica.

Currently 29.5C, heading for a top today of 33c.

Oh and 28.1C in this room right now.

And apparently last night was the hottest March night in Melbourne since records began in 1856, with an overnight low of 27.7°C recorded at 8.45am.

Oh, look at the post above.  This does not bode well.

It is bed time Sunday night near the end of January and still 34°C (93F) outside and 34°C (93F) inside too.

And fecking humid.

Tonight is supposed to drop right down to 28°C (82F), which will come as a great comfort and relief to practically no-one.
