Foreword

With colours inspired by a smith corona typewriter sitting in my cupboard. As I was putting together the initial KLE for it I noticed that the colours that I'd chosen also matched closely to a lot of red, black, and beige propaganda posters. Combining the two I decided that future dystopia was a great theme for the set. I will be running the set through massdrop and will have a poll up in a week or two.

Some have raised concerns over the similarity of this set to Wolf mark, I PMed the creator of the set and asked permission and he agreed, so away we go!

Profile

I decided on Signature Plastics' SA to keep with the retro vibe of my typewriter. Sculpted SA initially seemed like the way to go, however due to compatibility and ergonomics, R3 uniform also seemed tempting. To compromise I decided that Filco Profile SA, that is 333322, with number and function rows being r2 and the rest r3.

I like everything about this apart from SA. That's my only complaint, and it's a very personal thing. Reminds me of Honeywell, but it's a off white which is nicer.

gmk honeywell is based off of of a terminal board just like round 5. Utopia is based off of a different retro board, so I think this is cool. It may not be the most goundbreaking set, but I think its neat!

Honestly as much as it's Honeywell and my first thought was, "oh, Honeywell", the creamier white does make the set look rather nice.

And the GB gray isn't as dark as NN black as used in the Honeywell set. It's just different enough to have its own character, I think.

Besides, at the rate Round 6 is going, this could very well get produced before Honeywell...

Pretty stoked that it has a macro kit of all things, which would be really useful on a current project of mine. Personally I think it'd be fun to see a couple text-based novelty keys, like 'obey' or maybe 'submit' for the enter key, dunno. Just my 2 cents.

The colours are pretty much perfect, and I really like the legends as well. I’d prefer SA (343211), though. And actual, oldstyle arrows instead of triangles, but, well …

I’m not on massdrop yet, but if it comes with Alps mount, I could be in for TKL+Numpad+ISO Return Key+International+Space bar. Depending on the price tag maybe even more. It’s really the kind of key caps I’m looking for. Those colours, the profile, double shots. Great.

So, the big question: Alps? Please!

And shipment to Germany, but I think that won’t be a problem.

PS: Just noticed that 333322 makes it easier to apply alternative layouts, Neo is a bit tricky though.

I've read your reasoning and figure this is the half way point, but I've personally used the Filco doubleshot SA which is also 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 3 and I find everytime I try to shift between row 2 to row 3 I always hit the "edge" of the keycaps.

When using all row 3 there are no such problems and I think the compatibility between different sets will be a lot better.

Also it's just very rare to have all row 3 SA.

Again you shouldn't change your entire group buy base on my own preference but it's something to consider. :thumb:

Yeah, same here. I like the colorway a lot, but when it comes to SA, it's either 1-1-2-3-4-3 or 1-1-2-3-4-4 or I'm not putting it on my boards. I could probably be convinced to put this on one of my Pok3rs, but I prefer having the option of putting it on a full-size board too, and 2-2-3-3-3-3 just doesn't work for me there.

Looks like this is dead but if it does come back I'd like to point out there's a key missing on the number pad kit - if you use the 1u + key the gap above can be - or = but they're both row 2.

Personally I prefer = so - is in it's standard spot but on a standard 1800 - moves down...
