Just placed an order for my very first mechanical keyboard!  Ordered a KBT Poker II w/ blues.  Can't wait to get it!  Anyone have recommendations for where I could get some keycaps?

- Allen Bradley 6172-CKB5
(Attachment Link)

(Attachment Link)

There's something about those old terminal keyboards - I learnt a lot of stuff using ones like that (the second one, anyway).

My IBM Model M is on its way :D

Welcome to the club!  Fantastic keyboard - sometimes I am surprised how popular they are decades after they were made.

QFR Black Internals.

My QFR with black is getting an update when one of my keycap sets arrives - then it goes back into service at work.  I am missing the blacks.

Spotted it trawling through keyboards the business equipments section. It takes a massive amount of time, but most of my good finds like that are found by not searching anything specific at all.
I wouldn't have paid attention to it if it hadn't been missing a keycap. I wouldn't have guessed it was MX with those weird 3/4 height caps.

I'm so excited for this to arrive in my mailbox :thumb::

It looks like I might have to do a little bit of cleaning and TLC. I've never owned the vintage older model M, and i've only owned a model M2 which is flakey and keeps breaking  on me even though I did the capacitor fix each time one of the lights went out. I just don't want to keep soldering and fixing the capacitors on my Model M2, and so yesterday I got lucky when I saw the 1986 version. It's time I retire my Model M2 keyboard.

I'm hoping it will run smooth with just the adapters I have, and I won't have to get Sorer's adapter, and get into that realm of language modification (Oh my gawd I'll freak out if I have to do that  :))). Fortunately, I had ordered an AT to PS/2 adapter that will then hook up to my PS/2 to USB adapter. Ughhh only time will tell.

Well, at least my BF got his Click Fire XT in green switch this evening (He was so happy he found a full green switch keyboard with the 10 keys). I'm actually using it as of this moment, and I think I like it. I can't really tell what the difference is between the blue since this is the first time I am using a switch (I know, total sin for this site!). I think it is just right, and i'm glad he did not get the blue because any lighter wouldn't work for me. I really have to feel the tactile sensations. Still, I personally feel like the green switch definitely comes close to the Model M keyboards minus the buckling sound and buckling feel.

I find it hilarious that this site is mostly about switches, and here I am still attached to the classic type keyboards. They may look dated to some people, but I think i'll always love it because I am already addicted to the buckling springs that my model M2 keyboard had provided me (may she rest in peace).

There are so many here who still like and use the Model M - I have two, for example.

Basically I got them because they looked interesting.  Too much late-night eBay browsing, leads to random impulse purchases.

Leopold 210TP

I plan to put my Dolch numpad set on it (once it starts raining Dolch, that is).

EDIT: Mock-up of what it'll look like..

Show Image

too bad we don't have the x1 R4 keys available for the Dolch, wish we had them, I'm gonna end up using the ploycarb caps for the above numberpad 4 keys :(

I ordered 4x blank DCS profile ABS keycaps from Signature Plastics. I used the colors from a previous Dolch replica GB:

From domoaligato's GB

The base colors are GE and GX

And he says that the legends/letters/fonts are WFK or white. But I think OG Dolch is a lighter grey and not WFK. But since you don't care about the legends, I don't think it matters too much right?

Edit: rowdy on that sniper flow.

Updated with a few things.

:D I just got my clg hoodie and pentalift shirt in last week or so.  Along with a bunch of anime t shirts from perplexitees.

Now I'm waiting for white on orange alphas from halverson and I might try making an asuka 2.0 themed 60% if I can find a board.
