I did it again - a 3rd Déck is on the way - The Hassium
http://www.mechkb.com/products/deck-hassium-mechanical-keyboard.html

Well I hope it's on the way. The eStore above only accept addresses in Australia... I'm trying to make oversea shipping arrangements.

Tomorrow I will receive my first mechanical keyboard.
After extensive reading and searching I purchased a KBC Poker II with PBT keycaps and cherry mx brown switches.
I really hope I will be liking my upgrade from a typical logitech rubberdome keyboard  :)

Welcome to Geekhack!

Do give it a little time for you to accustomise yourself to it - the mechanical feel is different to robber dome, and not everyone knows what to expect.

Next you will need to get some custom keycaps for it.

Then another keyboard with different switches.

Then ...
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Haha, I am right there with you.  First topre board (FC660C) is in the mail as well.  Should be here any day now.

I better not like it too much because I am collecting parts to build some MX boards, so it better not blow me away or this could get really expensive...   :p

It's a classic keyboard, you should love it! A bit too heavy for me personally, but I love having it around. It really does feel great to type on :)

I found out that the pens were actually posted only yesterday.  At least coming from Australia it should only be another day or two to arrive.

Plus a QFR MX green should be on its way very soon :)

story:

I was in Japan for 6 weeks recently, and I needed some literature to read on the flight back. I bought 5-6 books, including The Green Mile (You have reminded me to order more Stephen King, which I did), Memoirs of a Geisha, and Anne. This was no ordinary copy of Anne, it was the 100th anniversary edition, and it had a note in the front cover written to the person who gave the book to it's recipient (A woman named Kimi, according to the note). Now, I actually only read (most of, I didn't finish it) Anne, as I slept through most of the flight(s) home. I left that copy on the flight, never to be seen again. So, I bought another copy of the 100th anniversary edition to fill that void.

Stephen King's stories are too long-winded for my liking.  Dean Koontz somewhat more varied and faster paced stories.

Plus a QFR MX green should be on its way very soon :)

Enjoy!

Thanks - I hope so!  I like MX blues and blacks (with a preference for blacks), and Model M, so I'm hoping greens will be a blend of the two.

Preferring blacks? *shudders* lol

I'd say they do a good job blending the two. Been using my QFS for a few days now and it's definitely a good experience.

Blacks are nice, much nicer than reds.  I like a bit of resistance in the switches.

MX Blacks are very nice :)  They may take a bit of getting used to, but I like them a lot.  I did not initially.

I feel like blacks are the god switch that tends to grow on you later on.
When I first tried blacks, it was in a store on a Steelseries 6Gv2. I absolutely hated it, felt like I was pushing down on a pillow.
I was using blues at the time, then after typing on blues for months and months I started to find them too soft.
So I began looking for a heavier switch, with greens not being easily available back then. I just randomly bought Poker PCB + plate and lubed black switches.

Am absolutely loving them, but after a few months I'm already getting that feeling that I want something even heavier. But that might just be me wanting my click/tactile feedback back.

Definitely go for Greens then.

Got some switches on back order @7Bit, just waiting....
I have enough for my kpad atm, might just solder those in to get a true good feel seeing I don't think just having them in hand tells you enough.

Tried blacks for the second time; I hate them a little less, but I still dislike them quite a bit. But my fingers are perpetually tired from overuse, so light, clicky switches are needed.

All this talk of blacks, I still don't like blacks but I don't really like whites either, but I don't dislike them as much as blacks.

Why so much hate for blacks. I've used blues longer than any other switch....but they are too soft. I prefer heavier switches though....maybe it's because my fingers are like bratwurst.

On topic: My Tai Hao sets will be arriving tomorrow. On top of that I have some Audio Technica T400 headphones coming in from Massdrop.

Topre Japanese replacement key caps for RealForce 108KT1 (White)

Going to use these (obviously not all) on my HHKB Pro JP. First time ordering stuff from amazon so I'll be keenly interested in seeing how amazon deals with international customers as well.

I also wish I could somehow find people that can do PBT sublimations (ideally if specialising with Topre key caps but I personally do not think that it is a must as well). It seems like there are very few sets of people that can offer that sort of service as well as the fact that they are not local (hence key caps for instance have to then be sent somewhere else). Here is only hopes to somehow get PFU to realise there is a real need to customise their key cap sets for their HHKB. The lack or even part thereof lacking variations is absurdly shocking.

I also cannot wait to see hasu has more of TMK board in stock, I would be looking forward into customising my HHKB even more.

P.S.: I forgot to give credit where it is due... jdcarpe's thread on HHKB with Japanese key legends and OO2 as well.

It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

So much is in the mail... an IBM 1391401, few 830 point breadboards, soldering station + accessories (wick, solder, few different tips, flux, etc.),  perfboard, and tons of components. Worst is that the shipping said estimated delivery date today but it updated to be next Tuesday. :(

It's not in the mail anymore because it got delivered yesterday, but still the day before yesterday I ordered my Shine 3 with blue LEDs and brown switches. A real beauty and the brown switches totally fit me.
It looks so neat and well made and the feel ist great too, although I'll be searching for different keysets. Damn I love this one, this'll be a good start for my journey in the mechanical keyboard's world ;)

I just need to find out why I hear that metal-ish sound while typing, but other than that I am very pleased with this one.
