Just found out my wife got me a semi-grail watch I have been after.  It should be delivered this week if all goes well.  This will be my Christmas, next year Anniversary, next year Birthday gift all in one!  She was trying to keep it secret but I need to sign for it.

Sorry, forgot to post that - Its a semi-vintage Panerai Luminor Marina Logo - 005 with two custom straps from Toshi and StarStella.  I owned a PAM many years ago, sold it and regretted it.  My best friend is also a watch collector so he helped hunt one down that is similar to the one I sold.

I have to ask though, if that's a semi-grail watch to you, what's your grail watch?

Grail watch is easy - I want a Rolex Sub 1680 Red from my birth year.  My true grail would be a 5513 COMEX Sub from my birth year but that would be triple or more the cost of the Red!

The Sub is the watch I fell in love with even before I knew what high end watches were, I was barely a teen when I saw a vintage one my friends dad was wearing.  Not sure what it was that drew me to it but I loved it and told myself I would own one.  I bought a Sub and sold it quickly after when money got tight.  I got a Sea Dweller as a wedding gift from my wife (she got the 2ct stone she wanted!) and still love it.  Many knock on Rolex and I can see their point but I still love them and I have owned most of the decent watches out there.

Rolex is what started me down the crazy journey of watch collecting over two decades ago.  I think they are vastly overpriced for what they are, especially these days but its more on sentimental value now.  It is our 10yr Anniversary next year so she got me this.  She rolls her eyes at my watches but I have to say that I have done as good or much better with those than I have with the stock market!

nope.  qfr is plate-mounted.  you need a PCB-mounted board.  there are not many available; a popular option is the pure (NOT pure pro)

If you pick the Pure, make sure you get one without leds, as you will still not be able to open up the switches without de-soldering the leds first.

RF 87UB 55.  Arrived today about 4:30 pm. Initial impression is ut oh!  I am afraid 55g feels too heavy. Tiring to type on.  I have a RF 87UW 45 and 45g too light. Is there no sweet spot? My Leo FC660c feels just right but I want TKL layout. If I swapped rubber cups from Leo to RF would the Realforce feel like Leo? Where does that leave me?  Has anyone done that?

I guess Realforce maybe a keyboard "cul de sac" for me.

I can't wait to try them out on my new Ducky Shine II Blue LED with White Keycaps. Going to see if they would look better with a white LED behind just the modifiers or if I should put an orange behind the orange, and leave blue behind the other...should be in on Monday, I hope...

This man speaks the truth. One thing to note is the fn key will need desoldering as it has a 3mm led. The caps lock led is off switch so it wont be a problem.

Wish Vortex would get it together and start making the Pure again, I hate the Pro :(
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

I would maybe give it a week or two of usage before you concede that it's too heavy. I too found them to be a little stiffer for my liking at first, but within a week I was able to adjust to the snappiness of the switches and gained a bit of finger strength for them. In regards to your question, I can't give you a definitive answer since the 660C and 87u 45g seem to feel very different based on a lot of feedback from users here despite both having 45g plate mounted switches.

Thanks for response. I'll give it a good try.  Usually I know immediately if it flows for me.  It's disappointing,  based on 660c I thought either the 45 or 55 87u would be great for me.  Neither one feels nearly as good as 660c.

No problem!  ;D I agree, I think the 660C is the king of the 45g topre boards in terms of feel, it feels very much like my 55g. It's just a crying shame that the keycaps on it are so subpar.  I hope you find one that works for you!

Give your fingers a week of dedicated typing on the 55g.  Your fingers will grow stronger and you'll get used to the attack the switch requires.  Trust me....I'm akimbro.
