The blood of a unicorn...

Not many people can say that and mean it :))
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I'm really excited. I think I have all the requisite parts now, but I won't know for sure about the stabilizers until it arrives. And I really wish it would… it's coming from Australia and everything I've gotten from there has taken forever :(. Been about 13 days at this point.

IV. A couple local punk demo cassettes (keeping the scene alive!)

Actual cassettes?

First, a Model F XT convertor( so I can finally type letters with my F's :p)

Then the second teensy is undecided for now. Either a convertor for another vintage board or for handwiring a custom layout in the future.

Yeah they are pretty sweet, and really sturdy. The tip of the shoe is really strong and feels almost like a steel toe. Its made of canvas and has the boot tread at the bottom, i love to wear them for work. Haha you should bring the mohawk back :D i still like to put on my old studded vest and dance around to F.E.A.R ;)

Yeah alot of local bands are doing their demos on cassettes now for that type of sound you get from a cassette. I have a HUGE cassette tape collection from black flag spoken words to Old dirty bastard. Its fun breaking out the boombox and waking the neighbors :p

My Zenith KB17 with yellow Alps came in.  I'm a bit disappointed because its build quality does not live up to the Zenith ZKB-2R (the ZKB17's backing is not metal, and its key caps are not double shot).

I was quite surprised when I tried out the keys because the yellow Alps on the ZKB17 were scratchy.  At first, I thought it was because of dirty key caps, but it was because switch itself was dirty inside.  I few drops of rubbing alcohol on the switch, and the switches became heck of a lot smoother.  I probably need to lube them though.

My mohawk days are behind me, I'm afraid.  Not quite the image I'm trying to portray at work (solid, upright technology professional, etc.).

I used to have a lot of cassettes, and quite a few band promo tapes.  Lost a bunch to random car-prowling thieves, and the rest went in a yard sale when I sold my house in Portland.  I do have a NAD 6325 cassette deck/component, if you need something to hook up to a home system.  You can have it for free, and shipping costs.   :p

(Not that I'm dissing the boom-box! That's what we used to use for checking regular recording levels in the studio.)

It seems like it has been an eternity but my HHKB Type-S is finally in the US :thumb:

There were some issues with processing the payment on amazon.co.jp so I had to contact customer support which took some time. They also ended up shipping it after their estimated date. After that it has been smooth sailing - Tenso picked up the package, emailed me, got my information and payment, and sent it off to the EMS the next day. Hopefully I can expect this thing to arrive at my house in the next few business days.

Edit: 20 minutes after I posted this. It's HERE! :D
