Well my IMSTO Hellboy has officially been in limbo for 10 days now!

Two different tracking sites list two different things... one says my package has left the country of origin (China) and the other says origin post is handling the package.

I'm just upset because I will be out of town for three weeks and if the package comes now, then I won't be around to sign for it and it might get shipped back to China  :'(

Are brown ALPS any good?

Some people love them.  I'll get to compare them to my tactile Green Alps.  I just like getting fun stuff like that, especially when it pertains to Alps.

I purchased an MX 8 switch tester from Maxkeyboard.com yesterday. I'm shopping for my first mechanical board and unfortunately my local store only has Cherry MX reds available to type on. Immediately after purchasing the tester I wondered to myself if I'd actually be able to narrow down the best switch for me just by trying one key at a time. Does anyone have any insight?

The keytester will give you a good idea of what each switch is going to feel like, although in my opinion, it won't feel the same as actually typing on a keyboard with those switches. (Hope that makes sense)

Yeah, your first sentence is my concern. I do feel slightly better trying each switch out (even if I don't get the true experience) before I spend a wad of money on a board. Thanks!

Yes.

Keyboard-holics Anonymous.

We meet in secret every blue moon in a forest clearing somewhere (the exact location varies depending on the tide and the position of the stars).

We're a bit more hardcore than AA and we have a secret mantra, "Click Clack Thock, Click Clack Thock" (I guess it's not so secret anymore... shhhh).

Instead of supporting others' decisions to cut down on keyboard spending, we "ooh and ahh" at our new purchases and provide emotional support to each other when our significant others, families, and friends disapprove of our spending habits.

Did your wife go ballistic last time?  If so, then unless she has resigned herself to your acquiring an endless series of different keyboards and keycaps, you had better prepare yourself for an incoming missile strike ;)

Or offer to buy something for her too - it gets more expensive that way, but does help to smooth things over a bit.

Nah, just two. I proxied one of the two I ordered from amazon.jp the other month. Wanted a white one to match my type-s at home :)

Got a white one from ek. It was shipped yesterday.

Doh, didn't know they were shipping, the website says out of stock. :facepalm:
Just got it today!

Edit: it still says pre orders okay. You get free shipping if you pre order ;)

My first mechanical keyboard was ordered Saturday night, a Ducky Shine 3 TKL white LED. Can't wait for it to come in, but now I have to play the waiting game. Lets hope it arrives before Christmas.
