"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

A HHKB type-S

Bought as I've used HHKB for the last couple of years on and off and I need to know first hand what the Type-s feels/sounds like. I just need to quite that niggle in the back of my mind as I love the HHKB. Could it be even better? we'll see.

Finally found a pair of Granite Win keys that are now in the mail :) My V60 Mini will finally be complete! Although missing a cable and a plasti-dipped case...
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

Finally, it looks like my Type-S is coming here.

After MUCH delay due to credit card issue / PFU's late shipping / Tenso not being able to find my order lol.

Still a great service though, I think a lot of it was just unlucky on my part. I would recommend it when they have promos going on :thumb:

IIRC something black, something green and something orange.  Possibly something yellow.

So cryptic  ;D

Most of the time I forget what I ordered.  Like those KWKs that arrived a couple of weeks ago.  Even holding the package in my hands I had absolutely no recollection of what it might be.

So I prefer to keep things vague, that way I won't alert myself too much, nor get my hopes too high, especially as things take 3 to 4 weeks to get out here, and everyone else has already received theirs by then and all the pictures have slid gracefully into GH history.

Realforce 10th Anniversary 55g uniform is on its way from Korea (I think its sitting in France right now, waiting to come into UK).

It will keep my HHKB Pro 2 and 88UB 45g company. Really excited to try the 55g switch!

I got my Realforce 55g today and the 55g switches are amazing. I haven't tried a 45g or variable Realforce before, but I have used the HHKB. I can see why people steal 55g switches off the Realforce boards for it. Just wish I could afford a donor board.

Anniversary edition looks nice.

I switched from 88UB 45g to HHKB, which i've been using since. I tried out the 88UB again a little while back (its on loan to my girlfriend) and I realised how nice and solid that board feels compared to the HHKB. Due to the layout of the HHKB, I now need ANSI instead of ISO so I can remap that backspace key (HHKB got that sooo right), and so I thought for my final board I will take the cool looking 10th anniversary edition for my prize. Hopefully that will be the end of this madness! ...Until I get the itch for a leopold 660C again xD

Besides that rant... glad you are liking the 55g switch, i'm hoping they will be a little more poppy for me (which is where the 45g became boring). 55g on a HHKB sounds like a nice idea, but sadly too much effort for me. I've tried to carry out a few mods on different things and usually end up failing or giving up :( lol

I have no skills whatsoever in that department so if I wanted to do something like that I'd probably just have to send my boards to Jersern and pay for the modding service. I always manage to do something terribly wrong in DIY projects.

Is 88UB the ISO version?

I'm also right with you on the backspace. I only used my HHKB for four days but I have remapped BS to \ for other boards now.

Yes my 88UB is ISO. I used to hate ANSI and could only use an ISO. HHKB has ruined me, now I love the big shift and small enter :D The arrow keys have been bugging me though. They are fine for the right hand, but its impossible to use them with the left hand which I find I need more than not.
