Well it won't be in the mail till tomorrow but I just bought my 1st artisan cap! :D I really wanted a Toothy Fugu to start my collection & put a WTB ad on r/mechmarket. I got lucky & very cool user, u/GZprime helped me out & sold me an Onyx Toothy! Can't wait to get the little guy, he's gonna have a nice home on my Disco for now then eventually make his way over to the custom I want build if everything goes as planned.
(Attachment Link)
So stoked about getting one of these!  :thumb:

Check out the keycap making forum! Lots of cool ideas there! And that looks like the work of one particular member here!

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction  :thumb: I have been pouring over the archives looking to see what artisans are out there & getting ideas for my custom build. I believe you are correct that the Fugu is made by a fellow GH member. I'm pretty sure the Fugu/Toothy Fugu is a Nightcap made by eat_the_food but I could be wrong as I'm extremely new to the mech KB & artisan key cap scene. Definitely some awesome work done with this cap design, I fell in love with the Fugu/Toothy Fugu the 1st time I saw it  ;D

Not really in the mail, since that's exactly what I'd liek to avoid using. Waiting on a answer from Elitekeyboards since I'd like to get a HHKB when im in LA in a few weeks. I'd like to order it now and as a store pich-up, so I can be sure it won't be sold out when I'm there. Usually I should order first and then send them an e-mail, but I'd prefer not to pay 60$ shipping only to have it refunded again and unusable for a few weeks thanks to paypal.
Does anyone know how long it usually takes them to respond?

Well, this is it received - an access-is 8x6 usb. Programs easily from a 64-bit computer, has one layer, 3 programmable led's, cherry mx blacks, and lots of legend-able key caps. It's nice and small, in mint condition and fits within hand reach. It even came with one of those red ring keycap pullers!

Along with auto hot keys... oh what fun!

Yeah at only 16cm x 13cm it's a little larger than some numeric keypads. I really love that it isn't square, so can be rotated to how I prefer!

Hah, that actually isnt it, just a pic I found online. Mine doesnt have a case, only a scrap of it on the left side. Going to part it out and build something w/ those real cool sculpted Alps caps. I didn't use the real pic since it is from Taobao and not very good quality. Got both it and the SKCM Blue pcb for $37 + shipping lol.

I have a question.

People are all over the world.

Delivering physical objects requires sending them all over the world.

Businesses deliver all over the world for very reasonable rates.

Why is international post apparently more precious than blood these days?

https://ircalc.usps.com/

Tells me there's no way I can send someone in England a dozen Alps keyswitches for less than US$60, and quick calls to places like FedEx confirm that there's no less expensive well-known option.   Am I misreading or misinterpreting here, or has the price of international post gone up by a factor of 10 during the time regular postage has taken to go up by a factor of about 1.5?

If so, is there any rational reason why?

We're going to solve strong AI.  Then it's going to solve us.

I just sent a single keycap to Canada for less than $4 and it's slated to take less than a week.  Use something like First Class instead of Priority and you still get tracking, but you need to get it all in an envelope so keep that in mind.  Otherwise, I don't know why it's so expensive for you as I got a (still kinda expensive) price of $34 to ship a small flat rate box to England from the US.

The First Class tracking ends as the package leaves the US (maybe CONUS is supported, but definitely not EU).

In terms of keycaps I've always left my HHKB Type-S stock other than a white PBT space bar, but I decided to add some flair and actually use the red Esc and red PBT space bar I have.  Then I decided to buy the red (and light blue) CTRL set and red WASD set.  Not sure if I'm gonna end up using both of those since it might be a bit much, but guess I'll find out in a few days when they arrive.  I actually have a light blue PBT space bar too (matches the CTRL) so who knows, maybe I'll actually go with the blue look.

First keyboard-related thing I've bought in a rather long time so I'm a bit excited.

The wife was totally okay with it once she heard it, so it can't be as bad as the clicky's I've had before, so that was a plus!
It's a fantastic board, and the only thing I'm displeased with is the fact that I got the old comic sans logo instead of the new logo - which I was told it would be.
