Getting some stuff for my gator board!  Pimpmykeyboard DSA dyesub set in light green (VCC) alphas wtih dark green (VAZ) modifiers.  Going on my white Pok3r.  Plan to replace the Cherry browns on it with Green Gaterons... THE GATOR BOARD! Get it?   Seriously though, this is happening.

Photos when the work it finished if you want.

Cool looking keyboards are cool and all, but sometimes you just need something fun to look at.  Might have to do a translucent red or orange backlit Esc key on this one.

Tai-Hao PBT caps, teensy's, diodes, LEDs all arrived.

Waiting on the mounting plates for these:
Quark
149590-0
My custom
149592-1
(Ordered from lasergist via swill's plate builder tool)

Some braided usb leads (Red, Black & Orange - 3m):
149594-2

And 3 lots of samples of compatible Cherry Red's direct from manufacturers in China (custom Spec'd to 46gf instead of the factories standard 60gf to 80gf)

Still looking for:
x1 - 2.75u R1, Blank in Black or Charcoal for Quark's Spacebar
x1 - 1.5u R3, Blank in Black for Quark's Enter
x2 - 1.25u R1, Blanks in Black or Red & Blue for Quark's Up Shift/Down Shift (may opt for the blue/red pill or portal in/out modifier set?)

I was looking at the WASD customs, but getting a lot of bad reviews to the quality of their ABS caps and shipping to UK on a single 1.5u blank is $14 if i order all 4 caps the price goes up to about $36  (taking the mickey there methinks for something that will turn up in a 5x3 jiffy bag?)

Just waiting to get to my 50 post min then i can tap up the classifieds!
So if anyone has something suitable to spare i'd happily spend a few pennies :D

I feel for you, i had to order Luthier's tools from Stew Mac in the  US because i couldn't source them in the UK (they put business name on the shipping address even after asking them not to) £80 of tools, cost me £96 import duty! Customs totally ripped me a new one!

Hopefully will get it before the weekend. But I'll probably install it only when I get the lube though. Still need to find the perfect dental bands.

Ordered a PBT spacebar for my FC660C on eBay from some Chinese seller. Anyone have experience with them? I figured it was cheap enough that I wouldn't be too hurt if it wasn't the most amazing spacebar ever.

seeing all your pickups makes me jealous, trying to find some keycaps for both of my daily drivers.

one subtle one for work, pbt preferred, cherry profile,  blacks or greys, was looking at the sky dolch but it is waaay to much, then saw the hyperfuse, quite like it but not a big fan of the white keycaps.

another one is for my home, still want pbt, cherry profile, don't have a color pref, but no whites or light colors. i get them dirty quite very fast.

any suggestions?

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

That's rather unfortunate, how many do you think you'll need? I'm not even sure where to source such things. Are they the same as the springs from an F XT/AT or better yet, a Model M?

Also, don't worry, with the deal I got on these two I feel a lot better already.

Yeah, the springs and hammers are the same in the blue switch f and xts as every other board, its just the barrels that are slightly different.

Just ordered Topre PBT spacebar from ebay

Will get it in about a month (ETA), hopefully sooner.

i don't suppose you have one from matt3o's massdrop buy to compare it to? i saw those spacebars on ebay before but they look more warped than matt3o's do.
also i'm interested in the fit (on the keyboard) and the texture!

mine's infested with corrosion, sad thing to see. similar to this, but multiply by 30.
after opening it up i pretty much gave up on it straight away, never even plugged it in :-X

Well, Orihalcon sells, amongst other things, replacement barrels and springs. I'm not sure how many he has, but seems like plenty.  AT and XT springs and fly plates are interchangeable, but the barrels are not.  My F122 has AT-style barrels.  Model M springs and fly plates aren't natively interchangeable with Model F siblings, AFAIK.  An interesting subject will be to see if a beamspring fly plate can activate a Model F sense pad.

To make you feel better, my 122 turned out in a really rough shape.  There's multiple broken springs that need replacements :p

mine's infested with corrosion, sad thing to see. similar to this, but multiply by 30.
after opening it up i pretty much gave up on it straight away, never even plugged it in :-X
That's the only thing the Model M has on Model F: the M barrel plate is immune to rust. :X

But not to splitting and cracking, unfortunately.
I have (part of) a Model M SSK that has a cracked barrel plate.  The crack runs through the flat portion and not through any of the barrels.  Can it be fixed with a bolt mod?

Just ordered my first mechanical keyboard and I am very anxious. I keep wondering if I made the right choice, considering I want to customize with my own keycaps, and I have no idea if it will look good with the keycaps I want. It's an "E-Element® Z-88 RGB LED Backlit Water-Proof Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with 81 Keys Anti-Ghost keys, Blue Switches, Black," as described by Amazon, and the keycaps I'm also waiting for are from Keypop, mainly the Triforce, Coffee and Chickobo ones (gamer-themed).

What are you planning to use the mx locks for? Locking Fn layers? I have a SKCL lock switch on my alps64 for the same purpose. Its a good idea.
