My flash drive became corrupted and unusable a couple of months ago and tonight I confirmed it is non-recoverable.

Now I have to get another one. >:(

They aren't too expensive, I bought an 8gb one not too long ago for pretty cheap, like $10

I love it, just make sure to get rid of that junk u3 firmware thing ;)

You don't hear about Cruzer micros failing often.
I have a 256mb stick from around 2003.. still works like a charm after going through the washing machine about a dozen times.
Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better.

Get a Corsair... I had one for 3.5 years and the connector snapped off it. I sent it off to Corsair and they sent me out a new one for free (I had a 2GB one, but they didnt make that size any more, so they gave me a 8GB one)

I've got 2 4GB flash drives... a PNY and a Cruzer...  The PNY drive seems to be much more solidly built than the cruzer, and costed about $3 less to boot.
Can't get enough of them ALPS

I liked the retractable connector. I would lose the little caps that come with other ones.

Been using a Cruzer Contour 8 gig for a while, now replaced by a 16 gigger (I tend to lug around my collection of service docs, almost 6 gigs alone, and then some other stuff). The only computer where I can use it at full speed (only USB 1.1 here) seems to have flaky ports, but other than that they've been working fine. Yeah, a 16 gigger on USB 1.1. Fortunately I never need to move a lot of data at a time.
Hardware in signatures clutters Google search results. There should be a field in the profile for that (again).

This message was probably typed on a vintage G80-3000 with blues. Double-shots, baby. :D

Depends on which cruzers you have I have a bunch and the old ones were brick ****houses while the new ones don't seem nearly as well built but I haven't had one go bad on me yet. Bummer. But prices are coming down alot and capacity is going up. Maybe send it back and see if Sandisk will replace it.

That happened to my 256mb flash drive too! All that happened was the cover broke so it now looks like a little PCB. Don't think that thing's going through airplane security...

I don't think they would let you through airport security...

Anyways, I have an 8g Cruzer Micro, and it works like a charm once you remove the extra software.

That's OK with me. I've never gone on an airplane and have no plans to.

I've got a few 32GB ones that are MicroCenter-branded (no clue who actually makes them).  Pretty inexpensive considering the storage capacity.

I can't stand the flash drives with retractable USB connectors.  They always seem to want to retract into the drive whenever I attempt to plug the drive into a USB port.  I then need to try to hold a small lever or similar in place while simultaneously plugging the drive into the USB port.  Ugh.
