More
Q1: What about other layouts?
A1: We now have ANSI, ISO, HHKB layouts. Weíre sticking with standard layouts for now, as we canít add multiple layouts to the same PCB as the hotswap sockets canít overlap. Trying to cover all possible layouts would be impossible so itís standard for now. if there are enough people wanting other layouts, we may look into them.

Q2: What happened to the upside down esc and 1 keys?
A2: Itís due to the placement of the USB connector following the universal GH60 standard. The hotswap sockets canít fit otherwise!

Q3: Is it difficult to collect all the parts needed for a full keyboard and to put it together using this PCB?
A3: Any other 60% case you find that has standard mount holes, and any standard plate, will work with this PCB

Q4: Does it have underglow?
A4: No as the power draw for all the in-switch LEDís is quite high already. There are exposed pins to add underglow RGB strips, but this is experimental and up to the user.

Q4: Can I set the RGB?
A4: Yes! It comes with different styles as well as colour picker. QMK community is working toward a hosted software to do that as well but its still under development.

Q5: USB-C? or Mini
A5: Mini for now

Q6: Do i need diodes, resistors, etc?
A6: The board is fully complete and ready to go!

This is pretty nice!

Would love to see a HHKB + Winkeyless combo though.

Basically the HHKB layout, but with 1.5/1/1.5/7/1.5/1/1.5 bottom row layout, so there are no issues with the sockets and can be used in both manners. Would this be possible?

Thanks for the comments guys. We've already got 2 PCB's for ANSI and ISO, and if we wanted one to include split shift and split bspace, that would be 4. To add HHKB/WKL to the mix, that would be 8 different PCB's to cover all variants. We will look into different layouts further down the line if they become really popular, but for now standard is the best approach :)

Because of the hotswap sockets, it's pretty impossible to add other layouts to the same PCB (and we'll be selling these fully soldered/built)

Cheers!

Hi! Couple questions:

1. What kind of hot-swap sockets does this PCB have? Does it use "holtites"? Or does it use the Kailh hot-swap sockets (used by the K-Type, among others)?
2. Would it be possible to swap the stock PCB that comes with a Pok3r for this one? My goal is to have hot-swappability.

The project looks great, BTW! I wish you all the best.

Thanks!

I completely understand and agree that the layouts you chose is the best route to take for the time being, good luck with the sale :)

1. It has Kailh sockets :)
2. Highly likely it has the standard mounting holes as GH60 etc.

kailh hotswap sockets don't allow for layout choices, so this is the best you'll be able to get with that requirement

In the FAQ he says if enough people are interested in alternate layout on a new PCB he will look into it. People are just voicing that interest.

i was just explaining why it's not there

i probably wouldn't buy an HHKB layout PCB, but i'm not the biggest fan of hotswap (just personal taste, the kailh hotswap sockets are a good implementation)

Iíve watched the development of the board through David and Yiancar and it should do - Iím getting a prototype to test tomorrow direct from David so will confirm for sure then.

Additionally Iíll be streaming a live build of the HS60 with /u/Meliewx from the MKUK community a week on Saturday!!

Awesome! Thanks for the response.

Would it be possible to combine this PCB with GMK screw-in stabilizers and the plate from a Pok3r?

I think I would have to discard the Pok3rís stock Cherry plate-mount stabilizers. Right?

Or would I be better off buying a separate plate just for this build?

Thanks for the guidance.

Yes! All plates and cases for a standard 60% work with this PCB. We're also running a GB for Screw-ins at the moment if you need them.

NEWS - We now have an NA proxy! thekey.company will be handling all orders to North America. Therefore I will be refunding shipping (besides £2.50 to cover my shipping to TKC) in due course and then TKC will send a separate invoice prior to final shipment. This will lower the shipping costs considerably.

I would like to see an ISO only plate on your website. Universal plate might be really loose with kailh hotswap sockets for a 60% board. There is really no one selling ISO only plates any where.

Itís something Iíve mentioned to David as well. Iím doing a livestream build of a prototype HS60 a week today with Meliewx - we will be using a universal plate so will be able to confirm then :)

Thanks! I'm eagerly awaiting! Are you going to use Cherry screw-in stabilizers, just like the ones in the other MechBoards' group buy? I ordered those, too. :)

Sadly not as I'm waiting on the GB to get some more. We will be clipping and lubing some genuine cherry stabs tho and showing Mel how to do it :)
