CM Storm Trigger /w Reds?
« on: Mon, 18 June 2012, 14:26:44 »
Now, I could be mistaken here, and hopefully I am, but the only switches available on the trigger here in north america are browns. Tried them on the quickfire pro and did not like them at all. Looks like the build quality on the QF Pro and trigger will be about the same, but for $20 more I'll take the trigger in a heartbeat, assuming I can get one with reds. Blues would be fine too, and since the CM Storm site advertises the main 3 switches (availability depending on region blah blah blah) I was hoping someone around here would know how to get one.

Thanks gents!

Well that is a major help at least. I'd settle for blues if I had to. Too bad they couldn't actually get it right and include mic & headphone pass-through. Still the best I've seen as far as function is concerned.

I am awaiting the delivery of my Trigger with brown switches. I would have preferred reds for my first mech keyboard, but this gives me a good reason to get a Quickfire Rapid with reds down the road.

You won't regret getting the browns :)
They are the best first switch

I got a Das Keyboard with browns and I'm pretty happy with it.  I've tried both blue and brown and prefer brown better (both the noise level and how the key feels).  I'm planning to get a White Filco Ninja MX Red soon, I have a feeling I'll like red better than browns :P

As for your question.  I'd recommend getting CM Storm QuickFire rapid with MX Red, since it's made by Costar.  While CM Storm Trigger and CM Strom QuickFire Pro are made by iOne.

Costar manufactures Filco, WASD Keyboards, Das Keyboards, ThermalTake Mekka G1... etc
iOne manufactures Razer Blackwidow, iOne, Max Keyboards, QPad, XAmor... etc

In short Costar > iOne build quality.

I emailed them and this is what I got back:

Dear customer,
The eta we received, is that they may come in later in September, possibly October.

Shall I wait for the ones with red switches or go for the brown switch one.  I will use my keyboard for both gaming and typing.

First of all, Trigger is made by Costar.

Second of all, both Reds and Blues are on the way but will be about 1.5-2 months before they hit the channels.
