Hello GeekHack
This is Patrick at NEO Keys (instagram: neokeys, GIVE AWAY will be done through instagram; Discord https://discord.gg/2MCKpQQ). I'm here to present you our first design Palette G67. The project started back in June and has gone through multiple stages of material test, design and samples and we're quite happy with what we have so far! And we'd love to hear some feedback and input from the community before release.

Case Features
-   Acrylic sandwich structure, with fully isolated, gasket mounted switch plate. Switch plate is supported by 6 silicone and 6 EVA gaskets and completely hidden from sides of the case.
-   Laser cut acrylic case plates
-   Switch plate options: Carbon Fiber, Brass
-   6.5 degree typing angle
-   18 pre-set case color schemes and more to come..
-   Fully customizable case color. 20 colors for each of 11 acrylic layers, total over 409,600,000,000,000 possible combinations. And more to come..
-   Countersink holes only. All mounting screws will be flush with case surface.

PCB Features
-   QMK programmable
-   Hotswap and soldered(ISO, 7U spacebar, split BS compatible)
-   Per-switch SMD RGB light
-   RGB blacklight
-   Center mounted USB-C port

About the group buy
-   What's included in the kit?
Kit comes with 11 layers of acrylic (7 layers of case body, 4 layers feet), PCB, switch plate, silicone and EVA gaskets (with spare), titanium coated M2 screws, brass posts, allen wrenches, USB-C cable, a microfabric cloth

-   How much?
Kit in pre-set color scheme with carbon fiber plate - $140
Full custom color scheme +$10
Brass plate +$10
Shipping is not included. Expected to be $50 for US and Europe. Board will be shipped from Shenzhen China.

-   How to place order?
Custom features are far too complicated to be handled through order forms, so we set up a website for this group buy, link will be posted in the groupbuy thread.
And here is a preview of color customization interface. Sorry for not having a real time rendering page. When GB starts each day I will run a few renders requested by customers and post on IG.

-   MinOQ and MaxOQ?
Groupbuy will be on when order quantity hits 100. Maximum orders will be capped at 200.
First 50 orders will be shipped with a free acrylic lube station in random color.

-   When?
Groupbuy will start within a week or two depending on IC result on Oct. 23 Friday (as my account was registered on Aug. 21 and only 2 months old account is allowed to post in GB) and open for orders for 1-2 weeks depending on order numbers.
Lead time should be somewhere around 60-90 days.

Here are some renders of preset colors schemes.

Some photos of sample boards in Void and Dawn+GMK Cyan color scheme

Here is a sample of Palette in Eternity color scheme, which has 3 layers of frosted clears and 4 layers frosted pink, with a brushed brass plate.

Eternity built up with brass plates, ink red's.

Some buyer's customized color scheme renders:

Here are photos of sample plates, just to give you an preview of the actual colors.
Clear, Frosted Clear, Frosted Black, Red, Purple, Orange, Dark Blue, Light Blue, Cyan, Green, Yellow

Flo Orange, Flo Pink, Flo Yello, Flo Green, Flo Blue, Frosted Orange, Frosted Pink, Frosted Yellow, Frosted Cyan

If you have any questions, suggestions or feedback regarding the product or design, please feel free to post or DM or mail me at support@neokeys.net

I have received some quetions from Discord and via emails, I'm sharing the answers here as well. So here you go Q&A
How does the gasket structure work?
Here are some photos to explain the gasket structure.
Plate locates between second and fifth layer, supported by 12 silicone and EVA gaskets which are taped to the plate itself. The plate is completely hidden from all 4 sides of the case, giving the user the freedom to customize case color scheme.

Dimensions of the case and typing angles?
Here are some drawings and numbers. Opening for USB-C cable is 12mm wide.

By using 3 or all 4 layers of feet, you can have 5.3 or 6.9 typing angle.

Weight?
Complete board with brass plate weight - 810g
Copmlete board with carbon fiber plate weight - 630g

All progress will be posted in this thread.

2020.9.16 IC thread started.
2020.9.16 Updated lead time.
2020.9.17 Updated solder PCB with ISO, 7U space and Splite BS support; Product specs updated; Estimated shipping cost updated; Discord server set up; Eternity sample pic posted.
2020.9.18 GB date confirmed. It's embarassing but I just realized that my account can't post in GB subforum until Oct 22. But good thing is that it'll give me enough time to finish soldered PCB design.
2020.9.24 Updated with some drawings and numbers to answer questions from discord.
2020.9.26 Updated weight of board. Added some beautiful renders of colors schemes from buyer's customization.
2020.9.29 Updated sample plate photos
2020.10.15 Updated kit content
2020.10.21 Groupbuy starting in 2 days. IC thread locked.

Very interested in this board.

I love the large range of colour schemes. I know you are allowing customization but I wouldn't be able to think of good colour combos.?
You don't have any other place to keep up with this right? like an disc, insta or email list?

Some additional questions

What lead time do you expect if this reaches 200 orders?
Where will these ship from?

I have seen quite a few layered board. The issue I have is the misalignment of layers either from the beginning or after a while. How will this board fare in terms of misalignment of the layers?
Also curious to see a few more pics of the bottom side of this board.

Honestly, the board looks quite good. However, I think it will be super light and 140 ish dollars would be a tad too much.

Interested in this if it's available with a soldered PCB and plate with the usual options (ISO, split backspace, 7u space, etc.)  :thumb: Great choice in default plate material too, I love CF  ;)

Isn't this just a slightly different, GB version of the Kayak (A play on the Canoe)? The same materials, almost the same design, and a gasket plate are the only things that differentiate it from the kayak.

this is pretty sweet!

a few questions:
1. can you estimate the shipping costs to germany?
2. the renders seem to have about 7 layers of acrylic, but you write that a kit will come with 11 layers?
3. ISO will definitely be available in a second round of gb a later time?

The GB vs. homemade distinction, case detailing, and mounting type seem like pretty fundamental differences to me. Might as well say that every aluminum 65% is also basically the same - and maybe you'd be right along the same standards, but why nitpick here?

This is very nice! Fast fulfillment too!

Couple of questions tho:

1. Where's the IC?
2. Can i buy 2 boards, if possible 3?
3. Where will this ship from? I'm in Asia, i would like to use DHL Express, would that be possible?
4. Is there a Discord Server?
5. What's the QC/QA process for this boards? Just curious.

I'm in, as long as there will be a solder version or if this works with other 65% PCBs like the KBD67 that I can solder.

this is pretty sweet!

a few questions:
1. can you estimate the shipping costs to germany?
2. the renders seem to have about 7 layers of acrylic, but you write that a kit will come with 11 layers?
3. ISO will definitely be available in a second round of gb a later time?
hey Norb, good quetions there.
1. I dont have a final packaging yet but if it's somewhere around 1.5-2.0kg, shipping cost should be $40
2. 7 layers for case body, 4 layers for the feet. I just can't seem to find a good camera angle to display them but they're there and you can customize their color.
3. As so many folks are asking for ISO I might push back the GB a little bit and make it available for the first round.

Is the top supposed to show the layered colors?
If you mean the tabs design yes. The board is called Palette, you get to mix and match the colors and appreciate your work  :D

Hi Ryan
1. Sorry I didnt actually make an IC form, feel free to post whatever you think here or email me at support@neokeys.net
2. Yes absolutely. When the order page is up you'll see it's actually quite simple to use.
3. They'll be shipped from Shenzhen China. Yes I can arrange shipping if you have any specific request. You can leave messages at check out page or email me after you placed your orders, make sure you send me order numbers as well.
4. Not yet but I'll set up one soon.
5. My team will check individual plates and PCB's before shipping.

It's embarassing but I just realized that I can't post in GB forum until Oct 22nd because of forum rules. So groupbuy will officially launch on Oct. 23rd Friday. Stay tuned.
Good thing is that I'll have plenty of time to design and manufacture soldered PCB with ISO, split BS and 7U support.
Meanwhile I'll keep posting updates on samples and perhaps type tests.

This is an amazing board, and kinda makes me glad I missed out on the nk65 drop yesterday. I was wondering, will the pcb accept 3 and 5 pin switches, and are the stabs plate or pcb mount? Other than those questions, I'm super excited for October now.

Yo this looks sick! Hopefully I'll manage to buy one on the 23th.
Just have a few questions about the board and compatability itself, might have miss understood something in the post;

1. Hotswap PCB will have ISO and/or ANSI layout? (From EU but doesnt care about layout, just nice to know which keycaps layout i should be looking for)
2. Does it only support split spacebar and 7U, or will it support 6.25U aswell?
3. The feet layers, will they be clear and see-through, or will they have the same colour theme as the pre-set ?
4. Whice site will theese be available on, and will this thread and/or mechgroupbuys.com be updated?
5.and shipping will start around late december/ January i asume ?

Sorry if any of theese questions were dumb and repetative, this will be my first GB/build and I'm excited :)

1 and 2. Hotswap will be ANSI only. But soldered pcb will be iso, split bs, 7u spacebar compatible. And I'm seriously considering ditching hotswap completely for soldered only.
3. Every single layer is customizable.
4. www.neokeys.net. it'll be online before launch

All future NEO Keys products will include one as well.

Just a question, why is there a max of 200 being made available? This thing is awesome and I would buy multiple if my wallet allowed for it

Interested in this one, looking to get one for my first board GB.

Questions:
1. Any updates on packaging ?
2. Is there a limit to how many boards a person can buy?
3. Will I be able to try out customize color schemes prior to gb?
4. Can you ship to the Philippines?

1. Packaging will be hard cardboard box with EVA foam. Cheap but effective.
2. No..
3. Join discord. I do render on request as long as I have time.
4. Yes of course.

FCFS for this groupbuy. I'm open to other method for future runs depending on how this one goes.

Can you laser cut a chamfer into the top layer of acrylic where the wrists go? Or all the way around? Slicing my wrists on sharp acrylic is the one thing that stops me from using boards in this style. That said, I may have to get this anyway due to its awesomeness. I'd totally pay extra if you could offer a chamferred top piece.

Laser cuts vertically..you can't do chamfer with laser. The front bezel is only 8mm, it'll never contact your wrist.
If you want a less sharp edges feel free to hit it with sandpaper. Acrylic is pretty easy to work on with simple hand tools.

one week, i hope i can grab one! as for the plates, the renders all show ansi-only plates, but since the pcb supports iso, will you offer iso plates too? or plates that support both ansi/iso?

do you have any plans to offer a TKL version at some point in the future?

Hotswap pcb will be paired with ANSI only plate, Soldered PCB with ansi/iso compatible plate, available in both brass and carbon fiber plates.
Can't guarantee anything at the moment but I'm open to all suggestions.

Love the look of the purple render you did for someone. What's the color layout for it? I'm guessing the top 4-5 layers purple, 3-4 green, and the rest black? I really want that color combo to go with the Mech-01 keycaps I have coming
