This is an IC for an aluminium ISO enter keycap.
Minor Updates about this interest check will be posted to the GeekHack thread and the Discord server. Major updates will be posted on reddit.com/r/MechMarket.
This Interest Check is for an Aluminium ISO Enter Keycap - this will be CNC machined with an anodised finished. The keycap is modelled from a GMK ISO Enter.
I have received a prototype (pictures below). Only issue is the stem is too loose.
This is my fault as I erred on the side of caution when designing since aluminium is not as forgiving as ABS on switch stems.
I have already sent off for a second prototype with dimensions that should work for this.
I have also increased the wall thickness to give the keycap some more heft.
The expected price for these is 40 to 50 USD, if interest is super high this could definitely be lower!
5) Gold / Rose Gold - will be made clearer with a prototype.
For the second prototype I will be ordering one of each colour to have accurate colour samples come GB time.
11 New prototypes in different colours, 1 is even a Brass keycap with a mirror polish finish!
The feedback for this has been very good and I am confident we will hit the MOQ of 100.
Pricing is looking to be in the region of
£35 GBP ($40 USD) for Aluminium with anodised finish
£50 GBP ($60 USD) for Brass with Mirror Polish
Pricing may change slightly as I am waiting on samples from two different factories. If the quality turns out to be far greater than this may raise the price by $5 USD. One of the other factories also offers PVD finishing which may be nice to explore.
Weight!
Aluminium is approx 7 grams, feels much more substantial than the original prototype which was only 4 grams.
Brass is approx 23 grams
Since I am confident that this will hit GB, I advise you to fill in the IC form if you are interested and you will receive an email when the GB goes live, which I Currently estimate to be late May early June.
Hope you are all staying safe and well,
Thanks for reading
