The Official KL-Hosted Philly/Mid-Atlantic Geekhacker meetup!
« on: Wed, 05 December 2012, 09:01:46 »
Who's in? And what dates are good for you guys? I am looking to do this on a Saturday in January.

If you are definitely in, state your interest here and also PM me so I can PM you my address.

We will meet at my crib at like 12/1ish. I live about 25 min. outside Philly. There are a bunch of good places nearby me (within walking distance) to go for food, so we can discuss that too (hope everybody's down for that).

I would prefer that everyone be at least 18 (and I will not allow you to drink if you are not 21). Sorry, but the law is the law!

I will also provide beers and food at my home. There will also be Foosball playing and geeking out on keyboards.

And, if you are coming from far away and need to crash that night, someone is welcome to my couch or to sleep on the carpeted floor (I have one sleeping bag and extra pillows). Or, there is also some inexpensive lodging nearby.

Oooooh. I live about 30-40 mins north of Philly, and this would be a much better option for me than the NY meet(s). Again, my attendance is dependent upon my pain level and mobility at the time, but consider me very interested.
My wife I a also push her button . But now she have her button push by a different men. So I buy a keyboard a mechanicale, she a reliable like a Fiat.

I'll be back in town from Dec 15th to Jan 15th, so I may be able to make it. KL, can you PM me an address/rough idea of the neighborhood so I know where I should be looking at getting to?

Any bus stations in your area? I would like to come up from Virginia, and I don't have a car.

I would be bringing a sample of my excellent keyboards ofcourse.

Other than Quarzac, I think we had a few other members from when I first joined the forum move out of the area or stop posting.

And @ boost:
I hope I can make it if it happens. My wife can wear her Eli jersey and you can see how my life gets threatened for her doing so every time we go  out in public.

Sounds like a good time, I'm interested!

I'll be in Philly after the new year, but unfortunately my Saturday availability depends on my second job.

Mark me down as a probable, for the 5th/6th,  12th/13th or 19th/20th.

I will be able to come if it's okay that I bring a friend. I'm driving them back before school starts, and they are helping to cover gas.

What time would we be having this? I need to work Monday, and it'll take me a few hours to drive home.

I had plans made for making this event this weekend (It's okay, I can make more plans). I don't know if I can do February, but I'll see.

It's okay. I also scheduled some time to visit friends this weekend, so it's a win for me anyway. I was going to look up what time of day this was going to be at, only to find it'd been moved. My fault for not finalizing plans sooner.

I can probably make February, especially if I can find someone to bring along (and help cover gas) Plus I'm almost certain to have my KMAC done by then.

What are we thinking about time of day/food/other essentials? I've never gone to a meetup ('cause they are always far away) but I imagine we spend some time looking at and discussing keyboards, chatting, etc. Then we go eat and then come back for more of the same, and then people start leaving and it's over.

Bytheway, I'll be bringing just about all my keyboards, and maybe some extra stuff, so if people want to try whites/ergo clears/greens/etc. they can.

I would imagine people bringing some of their keycap collection and maybe do some trades in person as well?

I had an idea to have workshops on customizing keyboards? Learning how to solder in person with proper etiquette is probably the best way to learn. Unfortunately I'm not qualified to teach but it could be useful. Maybe everyone can share their tips and tricks in how they mod their keyboards etc. But if everyone wants to just chill that's cool too ;D

I can bring my iron if anyone wants to practice. I have a large number of poorly sorted keycaps that I am okay bringing, and I'm always interested in trades.

Speaking of which I have a board that needs traces repaired, so I can do a demonstration on how to solder with a cheap, ugly, terrible (broken?) soldering iron.

I just got my Phantom working (62g clears) if anyone wants to try. I hope to have my KMAC (Greens) up by then as well. I'll be bringing many (all?) of my keyboards if I can.
---
If there is anyone who lives in VA and wants a ride, I'm happy to help. I might by able to pick up people in the NY area depending on room and time.
