my own mind and insomnia is bothering me, i'm gonna take my leave on geekhack now. it's been a fun while but honestly i feel no need to interact here anymore, especially since the recent news + ive lost interest in all my hobbies including keyboards.
Sometimes you can overdose on a hobby and you would need to take a break. It is not just you or just keyboards. I see it on other hobbyist forums now and then.

People that habitually make others repeat themselves. The poor girl at the front desk will ask a question perfectly clear, that I can hear from all the way in the back, and this lady that sits about 5 feet from her makes her repeat it probably 50% of the time and often will interrupt her repeating it to actually answer the question. This same woman will start talking to me from her desk in a different room and continues as she makes her way back to my desk, then has the nerve to get all huffy and puffy annoyed when I ask her to repeat the first bit. She often will start to leave the room while she's still talking, an implication that she doesn't care about any response. Funny how sometimes the people that have the most to say are the worst communicators

Ughhh tried to use my credit card 'protection' feature on an amazon order, they just transferred me in to amazon cs and I've been on hold for ~20 minutes......this is pointless.

Edit: After being on hold forever I was promised a partial refund then a few hours later was called back and given a full refund and informed they had pulled all stock of the item for review and thanked me for alerting them to the issue...

PS: I had already tried chat a few times over the course of a week with no resolution.

was really f-ing bothered this lunch... the replacement for our good (really good) cook at our caffeteria thought she'd have an easy job saving on dirty dishes by cooking the rice and the chicken in food warmers...  >:D

the rice was 'al dente' to say the least and the chickin was frickin' raw!

Haha...yeah there are unfortunately many remote places between all those cities where amenities are few and far between.

Work is definitely in the middle of nowhere.

And some places will deliver here if your order is big enough (something like >$100) and for a fee of course.

You must really work in the middle of nowhere, I went to college in a very small town and even there you could find a ton of food places to deliver.
I proxy anything including keyboards (キーボード / 鍵盤), from both Japan (日本) and China (中國). For more information, you may visit my dedicated webpage here: https://www.keyboards.es/proxying.html

Colleges tend to have lots of fast food or trendy eateries nearby since students are easier customers, even if a small-ish town.
Maybe they're waiting for gasmasks and latex to get sexy again.

There was some fast food, but past about 5 miles there is absolutely nothing other than fields and horses. They still deliver beyond that radius though.

I worked for a guy like that once. It was a hard decision whether to kill myself or him. Fortunately, I did neither.

Many times I finished sealing up a stack of packages by the door ready to be picked up by UPS, and then watched him come in, pick one up, rip it open, and start changing things left and right. It was like he couldn't really focus on something until the last possible second.
"The Trump campaign announced in a letter that Republican candidates and committees are now expected to pay “a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC” for using his “name, image, and likeness in fundraising solicitations.”
“Any split that is higher than 5%,” the letter states, “will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump's campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations.”"

That sucks!
There are a ton in my area. Usually they don't come out until the fall, but because this summer has had pretty cool nights they've been coming out early. Went on a bike ride last night and about a mile was filled with skunk smell. It was awful, because halfway through I must've come near where it sprayed. It was so strong...

But I guess one good thing I can say about my neighborhood is that, while jogging/bike-riding at night, instead of getting mugged as my biggest fear it's getting skunked.

Oh, dang. Haven't driven past one yet.
In high school there were tons of farms around us and we've gotten accustomed to cow fertilizer. To this day whenever I smell it on flowerbeds it gets me nostalgic.

Tp4 grew up in a rural ghetto...  That is to say, am familiar with animal Smells.

The Hog farms Tp4 drove past smells NOTHING like that..

I read that it's because their sewage is so concentrated that the soil simply can not digest it.

So it's pooled densely causing it to ferment.

Best description, it's significantly closer to Dead-Body, vs the regular farm smell.

I read that it's because their sewage is so concentrated that the soil simply can not digest it.

So it's pooled densely causing it to ferment.

Best description, it's significantly closer to Dead-Body, vs the regular farm smell.

Tp4, in his usual weird way, is correct.

There are "traditional" hog farms, and there are "hog confinement facilities."  They are two very different things.
On a traditional hog farm, you raise the hogs in a building, let them out into a pen during the day.  Keep them in pens when farrowing, but still let them out to feed, cool off, etc.   If you're a responsible farmer, and clean out the building regularly, install fresh hay, etc - there is very little smell.

In a hog confinement facility, hogs are penned up and never let out, crammed in to maximize space and profit.  Their excrement is pumped out of the building, usually into lagoons.  These are the places that you will very much smell when you drive by.

Sadly, the "traditional" way is becoming more rare, and confinement method is becoming the norm.
As a side note, the farmer usually owns his own hogs in the traditional way but doesn't often with hog confinement facilities.  In that case, he's usually a caretaker for hogs owned by a larger company or corporation - due to the high volume of hogs involved.

As someone who's lived on a farm that's been in my family for over a century, I've watch this trend play out over my entire life.

^ You mean they didn't mess up the spelling, spacing and syntax, managed to make the title match the content AND didn't have several different links to the same absurdly named site?  I'm clearly a low-value target as no-one puts the slightest bit of effort into scamming me :))

The most clever scam ever targeted at me actually happened through eBay. I was selling an Alienware laptop a few years ago and I had someone buy it. I received an email that spoofed eBay's domain and had the exact same layout as one of those "Your buyer has paid! Ship now!". Problematically, the address was for somewhere in the middle of Africa which I thought was weird and then when I checked PayPal I had never actually been paid. The buyer also messaged me on eBay that it was a gift for his nephew and to write "gift" on the customs form. Naturally at that point I reported the buyer to the FBI and cancelled the transaction.
I proxy anything including keyboards (キーボード / 鍵盤), from both Japan (日本) and China (中國). For more information, you may visit my dedicated webpage here: https://www.keyboards.es/proxying.html

The rowan trees are full of rowanberry and I have seen others trees with yellow leaves, with a carpet of fallen yellow leaves on the ground.
Neither should happen in the middle of July.

The first because it has been so warm, the second.. probably because it has been warm and dry.

Hmm.. Friday the 13th tomorrow.
that's a lucky number
Relatives of mine tend to die on the 13th..

Today, I found a dead bird on my porch. I buried it.

I need to get to Russia and report the rowan fruit status. The superstition says that the redder the fruit are, the colder the next winter will be.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.
