Hey folks update on the GB!

GB still set for Feb - exact dates/times and prices to be announced early in the new year - Upas is currently working on those with Mykeyboard.eu

Colours!! So after taking into consideration the feedback provided off the form there will be some changes. Space grey (see the image in this post) was incredibly popular. So I’ll be bringing that into the standard edition.

Standard Edition - brass pen rail, brass mod section. Choice of Space Grey or Black case (too and bottom)

Limited Edition - e-white or e-black and Copper for a more premium finish. The copper will be available coated to prevent patina or not. There will be 10 to 12 of these available.

Case styles! WinKeyLess was by far the highest voted for option - nearly 700 of you picked that. In second place was a straight 60 top and then finally just 4% wanted a HHKb; as such, to keep SKUs low we will be only offering WKL and 60 tops.

I’ll release all the stats on the form completions soon; and massive thanks to the 800 or so folks that completed it

Despite me launching my own store recently; contracts will still be honoured and MyKeyboard will run the EU/RoW orders for this board with Upas covering the US. I’ll manage the Limited Edition orders directly on Prototypist.net.

I think it’s an aesthetics thing. It doesn’t work with the forehead and pen rail IMO (and clearly a lot of people felt the same way)

Excuse my ignorance here, but what is the expected life time of a gasket? How long does it take before ageing makes it brittle? Also, if the gasket starts to break down, how easy is it to find a replacement?

The material used in this particular board has a shelf life of about 10 years and a usability of around 30 assuming its kept away from moisture, direct sunlight etc (manufacturers numbers). Given that it’s usually designed for harsh working environment compared to a desk/office environment it should be fine for many many years. The gasket files and plate files will be available after the GB concludes anyway in case people require replacements in the future.

I liked the HHKB renders. For me the extra space at the bottom is great to balance the top. It is still a great looking case, I just fell in love with the HHKB layout.

Just in discussion with Vendors as it adds another SKU - details confirming soon. Also working on timings to go live with the GB as well.

I usually prefer the aesthetics of HHKB layout, but this board looks great without any blockers. Definitely interested!
