Hi guys, some good news about this keyset.
I've got a reply from MD, they said they plan to put this keyset in their 2018 schedule.
but we still have to wait for further information before the real launch time has been decided. :))

Thanks so much for you guys' supports in voting for this keyset on poll:
https://www.massdrop.com/vote/-SA-Mechanist-Tell-me-what-you-like
Because of your supports, we have got nearly 3000 votes untill now!

That's great news! Any plans to see if Maxkeys can run this as well? They're getting their major molds fixed and are doing custom novelities as well. Could probably have this organized and shipped before Massdrop even gives you a set date for the SP GB.

Thank you for your advice, Maxkey is also very excellent, and I know they are trying to improve their molds and quality.
I think I may ask for a help when I have some other SA plan.

Great news! Really looking forward for it! Though I'm not sure if I'm still interested in keycaps next year.
Many of you seem to be very interested in Maxkey. Well, I own two sets of Maxkey SA myself, which imo is good, but cannot rival with SP SA. And I definitely will NOT buy if Mechanist turns out as Maxkey.
Anyway, now that it's on MD's schedule, all we need is patience.

Maxkey is good enough for daily use, but infact, at first I just planned to make this keyset in SA profile first. Don't worry!

Does look great. As much as I'd hate to have to wait for an official SP release I can get behind it over Maxkey until they truly fix the kerning.

Hi there :)

I was just wondering why would you rather have SP than Max Key

I noticed more people desire SP even after Max Key fixed some kerning issues. On top of that, SP has longer wait times.

I'm just curious :)

EDIT: I read the previous pages of this thread thoroughly and found out some reasons.

This is an instant buy for me as long as I can have a 1.75 Control key.  Based on all the sketches / renders, it won't be a problem.

Any estimate as to when this will be available?

@hoq

Any chance to add two keys, a 1u ALT and a 1,25u ALT, to the 40% kit?

Yes, definitely by SP SA.

We will review all the layouts before the GB starts. the 40% kit probably the same with other SA designs.

I wrote to MD a again, because of the person in charge was busy at CES,  he will consider if they have a slot to run this key set in 2018 schedule , and then give me a reply.

Please do 1.5u “super” keys to support non-windows users! Thanks.
(Our “super” keys are where your alt keys are and vice-versa)
Do this and I’m up for a set.

GMK doesn't work because they refuse to do centered alphas.

Refuse is a strong word. I guess that they simply "refuse" to do them for free.
I´m sure that they would do them if you ask for it and provide the money for the new glyphs, as is standard for novelties etc. It´s just 50 € or so per novelty.

Is that 150€ for what size of a key? I would imagine that you can get a discount if you buy 50.

I'm not aware of price differences between keysizes, maybe there is. Regarding discount, idk either, maybe.

Anyhow, when someone suggests to run a set in GMK, they don't mean that centered legends from SP should be copied over as well, it is implied that GMK's font is used instead.

Since it doesn’t look like you’ll be adding 1.5u “super” keys; command/option keys for OS X users would be nice as an addon set, 1u, 1.25u & 1.5u.
Alternatively stick a couple of 1.5u novelties in there (like MaxKeys lime did).
It’s a great looking set, and it would be a shame to miss out because it won’t fit on my HHKB layout boards.

Awesome, cheapest option is a couple of 1.5u novelties! Noticed nearly all the new gmk sets coming out now seem to have 1.5u super keys so maybe it’s a “thing” now.

Looks nice. I like blue - count me in.
Model M Industrial, SSK, Unicomp 104, Code TKL MX Green, FC660M MX Green + Clear + White + Grey, FC660C Topre 45g, MagicForce 68 USB and Bluetooth, Whitefox, some optical switch 65% Bluetooth split spacebar thing ... wait, I think I need an intervention. Too late, there’s a couple of new Model Fs on the way.
Too much SA is never enough.

Hi erveyone,
The IC restarts now, I haven't gived up this design, I want to make it happen.
I'm going to keep updating the drawings until the group buy starts one day!

Kits update:
1. Alphas

2. Frozen Alphas

3. TKL Adapter

Neat. I'd personally prefer the alphas over the frozen alphas -- I think there's enough sets out there that do the usual high-contrast stark light alpha/dark modifier combination.

I too like the alphas over the frozen alphas. I would say keep it with a cool color pallet. Do you know what will be the estimated cost of this set?

This is an instant buy for me as long as I can have a 1.75 Control key.  Based on all the sketches / renders, it won't be a problem.

Any estimate as to when this will be available?

I'm still fairly new to the hobby, but is there a reason as to why a 1.75U control key is important? And which one of the kits will contain a 1.75U control key?

A large proportion of individuals like to have R3 control instead of capslock due to the infrequent use of capslock. Although its not necessary to have correct legends to do this, it is still nice for individuals who want correct legends.
