The brown + blue goes so well together.

That's what kbdfans thought too.

Was on the fence about the brown mods, but I really enjoy the dark blue ones :thumb:

Great looking set either way

I know you haven't seen it. It's brandnew. It wasn't the intention of my post to let it look like that, sorry.

Looking at the comments on the site and reddit, it seems not much people like that colors.
But I do  :thumb:

Well they were way too fast. Still i think its quite silly from them to make a knock off. The set is in development and they release like 4 days after ic start a similar colorway. Coincidence? Hell no! Its lame.

Yes they are pitched darker and are actually different if we go into shades. Anyway i understand doing it after quite some time but this fast after i started ic thread here. I dont know.

Anyway let them do that they do. Lets keep the topic on subject.

Update.

- Novelties and Base set has been merged into one. I assume in this constelation this might cost around 150$. Keeping it separated would make base 130 but with novelties it would raise up to 200.
- simplified numpad alphas (removed secondary legends)
- removed some rdundant keys like delete and back space since icons make it simpler.
- Note: Row 4 caps lock keys are still text not icon. I think they should stay text because there are no icons in row 4.

Yes. As you can see they give options. There are two cherry enters one iso and ansi. There are two GMK Caps lock replacements stepped and flat. And there are 2 GMK 1u keys, one for escape and one for code key on C70. And there is one Cherry key for escape.

Not too much imo. Having options is better than having none.

Basically every modifier requires a new mold right?

GMK Keys 1u are available. I know there is 1u Cherry logo key available. However i think its new logo not vintage. I want vintage logo of cherry. For example the cherry logo on enter is vintage.

Overall most novelties do need new molds and that should not be that expensive if we consider them being novel. You can compare it to GMK Camping for example which has also a lot of novelties in its base set.

I hope you consider normal accent keys too. Especially the cherry key. I get you like it, but I don’t use a single cherry component in most of my boards, I have no interest I. Having a cherry logo on my board. But the color/accent look nice. I’d almost rather have something generic.

Unfortunately no. Brown mods will require second base set and that would split buyer base which might threaten both base sets.

GMK Carbon will probably drop end of this year. Tho this is asumption and its not guaranteed. I dont have any exact date yet.

This is hard. I get that you want tho i have no idea for generic enter. For example look at the modifiers, they are stitched and probably most easiest way is to offer a leather enter with stitched enter sign whih is meh i think. Leather patches need to have kind of logo.

Perhaps you might still consider that cherry logo because despite the caps are produced by GMK, its still Cherry profile which was developed by Cherry. Also GMK has very strong relationship with Cherry ;)

Thanks! I wish you also the very best for the GMK Fishbed ;)

Update.

Sorry for my back and forth but i did an overhaul of GMK Denim and its now extended as Yuri or Carbon in terms of kits.

Logo

Base kit

Ergodox and Planck kit

Leather patches

Stitched mods

Thinking about adding space keys for splitspacebar layouts, since we see more and more keyboards with splitspacebars.

Will probably add also specabar kit for additional spacebars.

Is this set still in the works? Or is it too similar to Eclipse to run for awhile?
I feel like the two sets together could make for some interesting combinations.
I hope this isn't abandoned though.

Please just skip ortho if you aren't going to take it seriously. Look at Oblivion or Laser if you want to know how to do it properly.

This will be used as another example of "See, ortho doesn't sell". Not like this it doesn't.

The kits presented in this thread are not up to date anyway. Once i get a safespot at Uniqey or Massdrop i will continue development and the kits will be updated similar to GMK Eclipse.

So i got some time for Denim again and here is the next Update.

Update
- All child kits has been removed. First run will be just the base kit.
- I need some things confirmed and i probably (if all things are alright) will announce a vendor for the first round of GMK Denim.

Base kit
- the base kit has been chopped down so only the necessary keys are included.

As i said i am still in prototyping phase. Tho i share with you some sketches. Keep in mind they are kind of stupid overboard i need to find some balance.

Stitched mods with words only.

Nice update. Clean and simple. Almost reminds me of the simplicity of the recent Eclipse... Any chance you will be able to offer this set as a separate kit. This was the design that got me all hyped up for this set as it is unique and special and would distinguish this set from all the thousands of the usual (getting boring for me) two toned sometimes three plain GMK sets going out in the wild with no detail designs in the mods. Still, I love the  zipper pull and little touches like that, but what I’d like to see more is the border stitching you have done for the Ergodox and your preliminaries.

That particular idea is quite hard to pull off at this moment. I need more interest in it - say real participants. Since the keycap market is pretty saturated right now, i want to go only for the base set. Once Denim exists and gathers enough interest for another round, then i might look into making such kit.

Looking lean, mean, and efficient. I like it!
Plus, I would anticipate this fine tuning to result in some very reasonable pricing.

Thats the goal. Tho i am on the fence to add Cherry Ansi Enter and GMK stepped caps lock as additional keys in order to give it some novelties. Thus that might make the set to cost little bit more.

Update

Base kit
- Changed all labels of leather patch keys (accent keys) to company logos.
- Added 3 leather patch keys Cherry logo (R1 1u), GMK logo (R1 1u) and GMK stepped caps lock.

The reason for this change is that leather patches on jeans do always display company logos and that way i want to accentuate "Denim" as theme of this keyset.

I'd love to see a Shuttle loom or something selvedge related for novelties. Maybe it's possible to do some that are non-infringing, but inspired by the Osaka 5.

The base kit is finalized and we are waiting for pricing from GMK. The GB will be held at Originative and this is my first collaboration with Sherryton  ^-^.

The pricing will be competitive and at the usual GB rates (keep in mind the amount of keys and the custom colors) until the lowest MOQ is reached.

A shuttle loom would require more detail to be distinctive recognizable as novelty and there are limits in terms of details if it comes to double shot process.

I agree with dropping the topstitch novelties. Perhaps if you were somehow able to add a couple chainstitch novelties they might look more compelling.

I think the topstitch novelties would be more compelling if you did them as chainstitch.

Hmm. Not sure but i will look into it if i come back to the stitched mods.

Btw. this is actually the latest stitched mod iteration. I think it is better to make only icon mods (recognizable for everyone) but stitched.

I like the stitches. Looks very unique, though I like a stitched border more than legends themselves.

Very cool - makes me wonder what the price tag will be considering it will be run at Originative, which usually has higher prices than other vendors for similarly sized kits, not to mention there are often no cuts or additions to kits very often with increasing number of orders (i.e. hitting a higher MoQ rate).

Looking forward to it, but hopefully not too soon, with all these GBs pending on running.
